Chris will paint these lines. He's a fan of masking!

Danny Meer
I'm in!! 😄
30 December 2019, 10:11
Chris Greathouse
Hello gents!

Actually it's about half decals, half paint. Something unusual, there are raised lines on the truck indicating where to mask, it looks to be a lifesaver to the madness. I'll take a pic of the lines and the decal sheet when I dig in.
30 December 2019, 11:32
Danny Meer
So it's gonna be a big challenge this 1 🙂 Just take your time for it😉
30 December 2019, 11:34
Nathan Dempsey
Watching🙂
30 December 2019, 14:02
Paul Juliano
I'll watch anything with multiple spoilers.

Chaz Gordon
So you watch the game of thrones aftershow before the episode then?
30 December 2019, 15:00
Chris Greathouse
Hahaha Paul and Chaz 😛

Welcome everyone!

30 December 2019, 16:37
Chris Greathouse
#3 Here are the raised lines all over the truck to help mask (Green)... There's also quite a bit of mould lines (red) I'll have to pay close attention to make sure I don't sand off a mask line.
30 December 2019, 17:57
Danny Meer
When you pull this off you will be a Super Boss in masking 😄
30 December 2019, 18:40

or in cursing... lol
30 December 2019, 18:43
Danny Meer
whahaha. just take your time 🙂 decals look realy nice aswell...tricky..but nice
30 December 2019, 18:46
Chris Greathouse
In #3 What would be the best way to create the shaped masks? Laying down tape and cutting into the raised line and removing the excess tape? Or is there a better method.
30 December 2019, 20:03
Bill Newcomer
following
31 December 2019, 01:11
Donald Dickson II
Yes, that is how I would do it Chris. Use a toothpick to get the tape to go down into the panel lines. Just be very careful that you dont run out of the grooves and cut into the plastic. Slow and steady.

#5 Starting on the chrome for the engine and chassis parts.
4 January 2020, 20:16
Chris Greathouse
#6 A few hours after the black base, I sprayed the chrome, a few hours more and I sprayed clear... Now in the morning these'll be nice and ready for the parts bin while I get started on the chassis and engine proper.
5 January 2020, 01:46
Danny Meer
The chrome looks amazing again Chris, you becoming a master at it 😄
5 January 2020, 07:26
Chris Greathouse
#7 All the chassis and engine pieces are done. I have to do some small secondary colors and grab the chrome pieces from the other day, and I'm ready to build that phase.

This is so cool! For Christmas I visited my parents. This truck is one of four trucks displayed repetedly on my teenage bedroom tappistry. Fond youth memories. 🙂

You are the chrome master now, Chris!
7 January 2020, 03:26

#8 Shouldn't take long to build this up. 🙂
7 January 2020, 03:29
Chris Greathouse
#9/#10 I'm not sure if I did the turbo intake/exhaust right... The air collector is not level but hopefully it's level enough for the hood to lay down flat.... had a hell of a time getting that system in...
7 January 2020, 07:56
Paul Juliano
Chris, are you planning to get the aftermarket spoiler spoiler kit? Those spoilers look like they need spoilers.

Seriously, though, great work as always!

Hahaha That is ridiculous... Thanks Paul

Question: While looking at the Alclad website for a gold color, the only thing I came across is this "ALC-122 MIRRORED GOLD FOR LEXAN" What is lexan? Can it be used on regular plastic kits? Is there another high shine gold to use instead?
7 January 2020, 18:56
Nathan Dempsey
Lexan is a flexible clear plastic used on RC car bodies. You usually paint them from the inside. I wouldn't use it on regular plastic, as it would probably appear flat and rubbery.
7 January 2020, 19:01
Chris Greathouse
Do you have any suggestions for a high shine gold? I'm wanting to use it as gold chrome, like I use the regular high shine chrome, except gold.
7 January 2020, 19:10
Nathan Dempsey
I'm not a master of the Alclads at all. I've used Bare Metal Foil gold on a space model I built for a friend and it looked awesome.
7 January 2020, 19:12
Munkyslut
Nathan is right Chris, Lexan is a clear high impact acrylic, perfect for R/C shells, helmet visors, race car glass, etc
A cheap alternative would be Tamiya R/C spray, I've had good results with that custom painting bike tanks & helmets
7 January 2020, 19:20
Chris Greathouse
Maybe I won't dechrome pieces on this egg van.. I'll just use the pre gold chromed pieces in the kit.
7 January 2020, 19:26
Paul Juliano
I believe I've used Chrome for Lexan on regular plastic without any issue, but you may be better off doing a clear enamel yellow over chrome. Just a bit of that enamel shot over the chrome gives you a beautiful candy gold effect, and you can intensify it as much as you'd like with additional coats of yellow. Eventually it starts looking more yellow than gold, though, so just go slow.

Polished Brass may be a good high-shine substitute for gold, too.
7 January 2020, 19:26
Chris Greathouse
I've been geeking out on planning the Egg Girl Vans I have have on Order, even while I'm full on geeking on the Boss. The chrome I'm wanting to replace is this. [img1]

7 January 2020, 20:08
Paul Juliano
If that's what you're looking to replicate, the clear enamel over chrome is the way to go. Funny thing, it's too cold to airbrush right now (till I can get my studio heated!) so I'm brush painting a figure to practice my skin tone... which one you ask?

So far, it's taking like ten thousand coats of light skin tone over the grey primer. Should have gone with white!
7 January 2020, 20:38
Danny Meer
Love that steampunk VW van 🙂
7 January 2020, 20:46
Chris Greathouse
LoL too funny, make sure to snap some pics 😄
7 January 2020, 20:48
Chris Greathouse

I put Alclad Aqua Gloss and Transparent Gold in my shopping cart, I guess the process (according to Alclad site) is

Black Gloss Base,
Chrome,
Aqua Clear Gloss, (can use Future)
Transparent Gold,
Top Clear Coat (can use Future)

Kind of a lengthy process for this.
7 January 2020, 23:11
Brandon H
Lookin great so far, man!
8 January 2020, 00:01
Tom ...
They have a plate gold but I find it's not very bright. Haven't tried the Transparent Gold. Adding that to my chart for sure!
8 January 2020, 00:33
Paul Juliano
I always found any clear coat dulled the chrome, but I haven't tried Aqua Gloss yet.
8 January 2020, 01:25
Chris Greathouse
Do you personally put the trans color directly onto the chrome?
8 January 2020, 02:09
Paul Juliano
That's what I do, yeah. I just found any clear really dulled the shine. I don't even top coat Alclad.
8 January 2020, 11:46
Chris Greathouse
Awesome, that'll save time.
8 January 2020, 13:47
Chris Greathouse
So I may be intimidated AF about the Boss body paint work... Thinking about it has me avoiding the workbench right now, I've never had a perfect mask... always get leaks 🙁
9 January 2020, 00:56
Chris Greathouse
#11 Questions in picture, also on that pinstripe... make sure you includes steps A thru Z.... I have no clue on pinstriping a line so narrowly between 2 colors.
9 January 2020, 22:35
Paul Juliano
I got a parallel blade tool for Xmas to cut long strips like that. Too bad I can't lend it to you.
10 January 2020, 02:53
Bill Newcomer
If I were going to attempt it... Lay down some BMF. Take an old stretched out exacto knife handle and force two blades into it. Voila, pinstripe masker
10 January 2020, 03:14
Chris Greathouse
So that really was made with a super tiny pinstripe of tape? 🙁 I might have to skip that. That's way too super thin to cut.
10 January 2020, 04:12
Rene Scheiblich
You could also use two strips of masking tape after painting red and blue to add the white stripe. But instead of the cutting problem you'd be facing an alignment problem. Might be extremely hard on the fender.
Quite a challenge you took up there 🙂
10 January 2020, 04:58
Danny Meer
I think you can do this way eassier....don't make that white pinstripe line 😉
In this video of the real truck you don't see a white line between the blue and red 😄
Youtube Video

10 January 2020, 12:32
Danny Meer
Same in this video, you don't see a white line between the 2 colors 🙂
Youtube Video

10 January 2020, 12:33
Danny Meer
I think they left the white stripe out in later versions after death or you just can't see them on video..
In this older video you can see the white stripe in between....maybe use a white fineliner to make that pinstripe? either way this is 1 hell uva job to paint!
Youtube Video

10 January 2020, 12:40
Chaz Gordon
There is another way to achieve a masked pinstripe without being fiddly, It works best on strongly contrasting colours:

1: Paint the base colour as the colour of the Pinstripe you want
2: When FULLY cured, mask up Block colour Number 1 as normal. I recommend trying some automotive fineline vinyl tape as it has a consistent edge unlike paper based tapes, and is designed for this kind of thing (Tamiya also do something similar) You'll want to shop around and try a couple of different brands to get the right tape, you want one thin enough to be able to see a colour change through it.
3: When Number 1 is FULLY cured, Using the fineline tape, mask over colour number 1, and overlap the surrounding part of the base that will be the pinstripe.

No cutting involved, but with high quality fineline tape, you should be able to align the tape over the length in one go (attach one end, hold the other and bring down in a single motion, which is how vinyl pinstripes are applied to the real thing, not rolled out bit by bit.
10 January 2020, 12:58
Danny Meer
But Chaz we all know how patience Chris is with waiting for a paint to cure for more then a day 😄
j/k that should be the way doing it and hope Chris will nail this 1 with some patience 🙂
10 January 2020, 13:05
Chris Greathouse
Chaz, I think I get the idea thanks and Danny thanks for the truck videos 😄
10 January 2020, 14:39
Chaz Gordon
Forgot:
4: mask the remainder of the block colour 2 & paint colour 2
12 January 2020, 01:16
Chris Greathouse
#12 Interior of body painted.

Chaz, Can you reword that and dumb it down. Use red and blue and small concepts. You lose me in terminology. I can't visualize what you are saying.
12 January 2020, 05:12
Chaz Gordon
(lets assume a 1mm pinstripe for the purpose of the description)
paint the white
mask up for the blue
paint the blue
wait
wait
wait
mask over the blue +1mm of the white (wherever you want a pinstripe) - this is why you want seethrough tape
mask the rest of the red edges (that aren't getting pinstripes)
paint the red
12 January 2020, 21:02
Chris Greathouse
I feel kind of silly, but the dumbed down version I get 100%, Thank you!!!
12 January 2020, 22:03
Patrick Hagelstein
Don't feel silly. Only now did I get that too. 😄
13 January 2020, 00:38
Donald Dickson II
Yeah, I wasnt totally following the first directions either. LOL

#13 Dashing through the snow.... seriously 8" outside 😄
14 January 2020, 20:33
Chris Greathouse
#14 Built up the interior tub, looks good to me 🙂 I am all out of things to do... Masking, which I've been avoiding like crazy with nerves... is up next. tomorrow.
14 January 2020, 23:53
Tom ...
awesome job on the dash! I like it. We are getting a slight dusting down here. I hope you don't have to venture out. Got all your supplies?
15 January 2020, 00:16
Chris Greathouse
living 1300' feet up the base of Snoqualmie Pass (3000') and living in a valley that's windy AF. We've got something for every type of weather 😄 I even have stuff for my fish and snake 😄 Also, I know how to drive in the snow... it's the others you have to worry about 😛
15 January 2020, 00:25
Tom ...
BTW, I purchased some Alclad transparent yellow so am going to do some tests to see if I can get a brass/gold finish I like for my model T fire truck. The LSH didn't have alclad's polished brass so going to order it online.
15 January 2020, 00:27
Chris Greathouse
Any tests you do, snap some pics.
15 January 2020, 00:57
JD
Got a couple inches here in Spanaway too Chris. I used to drive over the pass all the time on my way to Wenatchee and Yakima when I was a truck driver...Nothing like the big rigs though.
15 January 2020, 01:35
Bill Newcomer
Chris, I have been through Snoqualmie Pass a few times. Not something I would want to do in the snow. (I used to live in Seatac then Tacoma, now Salem, OR)
15 January 2020, 01:36
JD
Ha! Bill, another Tacoma veteran!
15 January 2020, 01:37

How did I miss this? I'm in!!!
15 January 2020, 02:31
Nathan Dempsey
That dash is looking nice Chris! Its 72°F here at 9:44 PM & I wouldn't know what a pass (or snow)was if it hit me in the face 🙂
15 January 2020, 02:45
Chaz Gordon
Chris, I never guessed you lived in Twin Peaks
15 January 2020, 12:46
Chaz Gordon
now i'm expecting a build list of all the vehicles from the show
15 January 2020, 12:48
Chaz Gordon
what's your technique on the wood grain?
15 January 2020, 12:50
Chris Greathouse
Yay Twin Peaks! Although Twede's Cafe (still open today) is a grease pit, they have pretty good fries and shakes 😄

Anyways, I mix Vallejo 70.828 "Wood Grain" (dark) with 70.834 "Natural Wood Grain" (light) depending on the color I want. Then I paint sloppy and thinly so it's not an even coverage and the brightness of the primer partially shows through.
15 January 2020, 13:18
Chris Greathouse
#15 Got one side of the blue masked off on the hood, tomorrow I'll mask the other side blue. Then I'll mask out the open areas with yellow tape and give it a go.
16 January 2020, 00:36
Chris Greathouse
Then do the same with the red.... then do it all over again on the body...
16 January 2020, 00:39
Bozzer
Chris, just a tip. Make sure you flatten the tape down good. I use a blunt, plastic tool, but you could quite easily use a thick piece of sprue, flattened at on side, and rounded smooth. Go over all the tape, just before you shoot paint. Try to avoid too much, so you don't have lines. I always shoot horizontal, on lines like that. Do it in light coats until you get the desired colour.
16 January 2020, 02:16
Chris Greathouse
Fu*king tape 😛 Took hours, but looks clean as heck... I think I'll mask for the blue on the body before I spray.
16 January 2020, 03:23
Peter Hardy
Cotton bud / Q tip rubbed down the edge does it for me!
16 January 2020, 07:45
Chris Greathouse
I'll make sure to flatten the edges before I spray.
16 January 2020, 15:57
Clifford Keesler
Hey Chris, is that the orginal kit or the Round 2 re-release?
16 January 2020, 16:00
Chris Greathouse
This is the 2016 rebox (AMT930/06). Does Round2=AMT? Same company or something?
16 January 2020, 16:43
Danny Meer
Great job on the dash Chris and hope you get the masking/striping right 👍
16 January 2020, 16:52
Clifford Keesler
Yes Round 2 bought the molds for AMT kits. They still carry the AMT label but are dist. by Round 2 models.
16 January 2020, 20:47
Donald Dickson II
There should be inserts in the box with round 2 stuff on them. They also bought the Lindberg molds.
16 January 2020, 21:06
Chris Greathouse
#17 Oh my god... So much masking... This is just for the dark blue, and a lengthy day to do just one side of masking... Next is the other side and finishing with yellow tape to mask out the other colors. Then finally spraying.... long project.
17 January 2020, 04:21
JD
I enjoy watching you suffer for your craft Chris...Rock on!
17 January 2020, 04:39
Chris Greathouse
Sadistic bugger! 😛 lol
17 January 2020, 04:48
Bozzer
Best of luck buddy \m/
17 January 2020, 05:06
Tom ...
Yikes, that's a lot of work. Keep on truck'n!!
17 January 2020, 06:10
Chris Greathouse
3 days of masking, and this is just for the blue...
19 January 2020, 03:21
Chris Greathouse
I hope I did the masking right... a lot of time on it.
19 January 2020, 04:10
Peter Hardy
Strike me pink Chris! You should invest heavily in Tamiya tape mate! Bet you have sore fingers now!
19 January 2020, 05:39
Tom ...
Good luck. That's some work alright!
19 January 2020, 05:41
Chris Greathouse
Did I do all that masking right? or is there a simpler way to mask? I have blue lines to paint every which way. And I should mask over the white and wear the red should be right?.
20 January 2020, 09:23
Danny Meer
Pfff man...when I see what is needed to mask this truck, dunno if I will buy/build this 1 lol
Thought that most of the lines where decals, but now I see that most is painted...
would give me nightmares 😛 Really hope you nail this Chris!
20 January 2020, 16:28
Bozzer
Danny, I have this kit and Chris has been an inspiration to all of us. Grab the bull by the horns and go for it! This is what we do buddy.😉
20 January 2020, 16:38
Danny Meer
True but I would be so scared to F it up 😛 Not an easy kit this 1
20 January 2020, 16:45
Bozzer
LOL bro, I've never had an easy kit yet! Remember, the hardest part is building the buggers. With paint, you can sand, strip, re-do. It's only time and more paint. We all want perfect, but it comes at a price. Preparation and dedication. Bro, we have the best hobby in the world, with the best, helpful, community there is. If you wanna be scared of anything, look at politics 😉 Never say never buddy, because normal people like us, put men on the moon 🙂
20 January 2020, 16:54
Danny Meer
lol. true. And I'm very happy with the ppl here, very helpfull and great tipsthat helps me alot and makes me a better builder and still have loads to learn 😄
20 January 2020, 17:32
Chris Greathouse
But Danny, it is mostly decals (#4) 😛

Round2 is a bunch of sadists with this kit! Here let's give you masking hell, then when you're visibly shaken, lets dump on lots of stringy decals.
20 January 2020, 18:55
Danny Meer
😄
20 January 2020, 19:41
Chris Greathouse
#20.... Well ladies and gents... Time to paint up or shut up... The compressor is filling and I'm mixing blue.... Here we go.
20 January 2020, 20:00
JD
Relax...ease into the pain...good luck!
20 January 2020, 20:03
Bill Newcomer
Good luck!
21 January 2020, 05:26
Danny Meer
and and and? 😄 so curious about the result 😛
21 January 2020, 06:00
Tom ...
They are currently talking him down from a ledge...
21 January 2020, 06:56
Danny Meer
Whahaha, Chris is now talking to a psychiatrist 😄
21 January 2020, 07:14
Chris Greathouse
I'm letting it sit overnight, then I only need to unmask the lower section in order to mask for the red. So everything else stays while I mask and paint red, then let it sit for a day. then unmasking... I'm as nervous as you all are.....
21 January 2020, 07:37
JD
Breathe... it's like you are giving birth...to a work of art..(chuckle)
21 January 2020, 08:19
Chris Greathouse
#21 Well unmasked the spoilers, I think I did ok. How do you fix fuzzy lines like on the bottom large spoiler... Please give me a working solution, I want to learn, not just be told to strip and repeat. Thanks! 😄
21 January 2020, 19:21
JD
How about masking over the blue to re-establish the line, then touch up with white?
21 January 2020, 20:12
Chris Greathouse
#22 How about the blobs?
21 January 2020, 20:41
Danny Meer
You mean those 2 blue spots on fender? I would sand it very lightly, not to much with 3k sponge..don't have to remove it completly just enough that the red paint covers it. cuz it's where the red paint comes right? That's my 2 cents on how I would do😉
21 January 2020, 21:15
Chris Greathouse
Thanks danny and JD I think that'll fix up the spots 😄

#23 How'd it turn out guys? I think ok 🙂
21 January 2020, 21:23
Danny Meer
Looking good so far Chris, just touchup those few spots and when the red is on it will surely pop 👍
21 January 2020, 22:03
Tom ...
Not bad at all at all. it's funny how paint will find even the tiniest gap in the masking. I'm always gobsmacked when it happens. Looking good, Chris!
21 January 2020, 22:19
JD
Looks good considering the level of difficulty, I doubt I could do any better. The tape may be sub-par (too much bleedthrough) I tend to agree with Pete about upgrading to Tamiya, they're the model masters and their tape is designed specially for models to go around curves and irregular surfaces. Also sometimes it's better to remove the tape before the paint has fully dried so it doesn't remove some of your paint job too, although I'm sure that's open for debate. I also learned that one should carefully handle and store ones tape, avoiding banging it down on the desk, or laying it down on it's side, because if you foul the edges of the roll, it can cause bleedthrough, dust, lint etc.
22 January 2020, 00:47
Chris Greathouse
But I am using 2mm curvy vinyl Tamiya tape, and 6mm Tamiya masking tape. Then I use delicate frog tape to cover larger flat areas. The bleed through is in the 2mm/6mm areas.

I border the area with the 2mm, then I overlap the 2mm with the 6mm, then overlap the 6mm with the large tape to fill out the larger less shapely area.
22 January 2020, 02:35
JD
Hmm, that's very interesting...a real head scratcher! Maybe do a test on a scrap piece to eliminate the tape as the issue. And another thing about tape...it does seem to have a shelf life like super glue, and can get old, brittle, gummy. I dunno buddy, I'm out of ideas...
22 January 2020, 02:53
Chris Greathouse
I sanded the blue blobs with my 3000 sponge and tomorrow, I'll be making a bunch of little mask areas to airbrush the spots white and get off the blue. I am going to buy most of the Tamiya tapes/sizes as they do work really well.
22 January 2020, 03:01
JD
One final thought, though I haven't tried it myself, I hear that if you spray on clear over the mask, it will seal the tape prior to painting, and prevent any bleeding. (Ok, I'll shutup now...)
22 January 2020, 03:33
Bob Hall
Or just hit it with a shot of the same color, in this case hit with white then do the Blue.
22 January 2020, 03:42
JD
Yeah, that makes more sense...
22 January 2020, 03:50
Bozzer
I have used the clear method, prior to painting. Tbh, I had mixed results, but it did have an effect. I don't use Tamiya tape anymore. I just use a decent normal masking tape. The cheap dollar ones have mixed results. As always, test on something, before committing to the model. Masking itself, is an art form.Looking good though, Chris.
22 January 2020, 05:21
Bill Newcomer
Chris, Have you ever used Parafilm? It have never bled under on me. Perfectly straight lines over open surfaces are a challenge though. Also it never lifts any paint that is under it.
22 January 2020, 06:11
Chris Greathouse
Thanks guys for all the tips and discussion. And Bill, I have heard of parafilm, I may have to give it a go.
22 January 2020, 08:15
Bill Newcomer
If I ever get to paint my red and white Freightliner cab. I will have a great example for you.
24 January 2020, 03:48
Chris Greathouse
#25 HOLY SH!T, nailed it! I did unfortunately rip off BIG scabs of paint 🙁 which I'll try and fix. Any advice to fixing?
25 January 2020, 03:51
Chris Greathouse
Chaz I owe it to you for those directions, it came out good 😄
25 January 2020, 03:53
Paul Juliano
Great execution. That's very clean work!
25 January 2020, 03:55

BOOM! I woke up, flicked onto here and find this! Holy cow, that's amazing! This makes my willy hard! Fantastic outcome Chris!!! Now time for coffee 🙂

Thanks guys, I'm feeling damn skippy. It took 2-3 days to mask each color and protect the rest... Like I said above some scabs of paint came off... BUT I'm still happy with what I got. Any advice of fixing the spots where the paint pulled, a hand brush?
25 January 2020, 04:10
Bozzer
If you brush, use thinned paint and do it in several light coats. I didn't, on one of my models and the outcome was more of a bump, than a repair. It still bugs the shit out of me today! I would be tempted to clear coat everything, then try to remask and airbrush the repair, although I'd wait to see what the other guys say first?

Wow, much cleaner on this pass! Your technique is definitely improving...8)

Chris Greathouse
NOOOOOOO MOOOOOOAR MAAAASKING.... I beg you *twitch, twitch* 😛 I was thinking super thinned paint and several coats hand brushed... I looked, and a few will be hidden by decals, so +1 👍 😄
25 January 2020, 06:45
Bozzer
Super thin, I agree! You did an awesome job Chris, so pat on the back to you! I hope mine turns out as good. You sir, are an inspiration to us all. On a side note, my new compressor is damn amazing! Hitting paint all this weekend 🙂 🙂 🙂

@Bozz
A site called fiverr.com is a "Freelance Services Marketplace‎" with services starting at $5, you can ask for help/assistance doing something, almost damn near anything. pay the service fee and agree to contract terms of service. I paid an artist $5 and gave him a picture of me, within a week, bam I'm yellow 🙂

Search the site for "Simpsons character". It should pull up several services for you. 🙂

Also if the site isn't available in your area, if you have paypal and email, then I can do it for you and email the results and you paypal me.

Dude! Looks great! Not much clean up left there. Given the complexity of the masking, thats a bang up job!
25 January 2020, 17:45
Chris Greathouse
Thanks guys! It was a hell of a job, I'm going to do some little touch-ups where I can. Then this afternoon, I'll spray gloss and get ready for the decal attack!

Lol.... thumb, not avatar... opps... Oh well, now you have info for both 👍 😄
25 January 2020, 18:10
Chris Greathouse
And Bozz, I'm glad you like your compressor. 😄 Is it one with a tank attached?

Thanks Slutymunk!! ;P I'm doing a lot better than I thought at this point . 😄

All the emoji's are on the f.a.q. page linked at the top of the site. They are about halfway down the page.

If any of you haven't read the f.a.q., I recommend it, at least a heavy skim of it. A lot of helpful info about the mechanics of the site.

#MissingNo, I touched up the truck and sprayed it with gloss for the decals. Then I put them in front of a little heater to dry. Decals, maybe in a few hours... If laziness and Netflix doesn't win out 😛

Man, I'm sad! I just screenshotted that list. Thing is though, they help in context to what we are saying. Text can easily be read wrong, so a thumbs up or smiley face, can make the difference. Thanks lads, you are an education 👍

Awesome dude! Thoughts on it, I would've done a light painting of flat black in the front grill area and made the tires look more real. Still my friend that's a nice build! Looks fantastic! Keep up the good work!
1 February 2020, 01:43
Chaz Gordon
That looks awesome Chris, nice work
7 February 2020, 23:04
Chris Greathouse
Thanks guys!

Tim, I always forget to black out the grill. Oh well.... How do you you make tires look good? unless you mean weathering. I don't know how to do that.
7 February 2020, 23:54
Tim Heimer
For what it's worth I sand the tires 1st mildly sand with 100 grit on the tread, then 220 on tread and on side wall, then either use the colors dirty black, rubber or a combination of both to get desired effect.
8 February 2020, 02:32
Tim Heimer
Also you can use a scuff pad. I went to take tire pics for you but can't find the card for my camera! Hopefully tomorrow.
8 February 2020, 05:12
Munkyslut
I use a scotchbrite pad
