Just pick up Mr Hobby liquid mask!

I have try Micro Liquid mask but did not like it!

I want Humbrol but Model land did not have any!
23. January, 23:25
Łukasz Gliński
Having similar problems every now and then. My ideas are:
- to cut the mask ends very slightly with very sharp scalpel, so the paint doesn't peel off too much,
- to add some delicate wash after removing the masks, so the window frames get dark (and thicker paint is not so visible) - of course sealing it with varnish afterwards.
25. January, 10:08

Thanks, the texan in which i did have any pre-cut mask turn out to be a challenge with it small window on top of the canopy!

Hello
With book records, would it be possible to create a field for Artist/Illustrator?

At the moment, there is a field for Author and it is completed inconsistently. Some records only contain the writer(s) and other records have writer(s) and artist(s).

I would like to see artists credits and searchable but also improve the data quality for the author value.

Thanks

I'd like to see "Editor" added to books as well. As it is now I'm given the status of Author to a book that lacks an author. But I'm the editor of said book.

Lukasz, you should complain to LN decals that the red is translucent. They should have it supplied with a white background to avoid this, particularly because it has to be applied on a dark Blue background.

Slavo Hazucha
Welcome mates, I am very happy so many approve of the choice - I also think the F-23 would have created the best looking 5-th gen fighter, recent mock-ups of the FCAS & Tempest included! That´s why I´m attempting this, the 2 prototypes paint-jobs, and particularly the pristine (boring) condition just would not do the airframe full justice...

It allso allows me not to care about any failings of the kit in details + gives me the opportunity to add some artistic freedom :)

So here we are, one-pic update, but this is what I´ve been working on - a proper 5th gen pilot! Starting with the Hasegawa materials from the 80´s the helmet went through a series of light modifications, mostly using bits on the table and leftovers from older builds. It should not be any particular current helmet, It´s a free "what if" interpretation as the rest of the build. Was fun... :)

Konrad Limmer
Nice mods on the pilots helmet !

In my eyes this bird is one of the coolest looking designes for an air superiority fighter!

So I'm really excited what you're doing with this one ! Looking forward to every single update mate !

That paintbrush + goggles, wow! And very well done with the hourglass badge!
25. January, 12:20
Daniel
Cool idea! Also the badges are a nice+fitting detail

Best looking 5th gen? Dunno...in my book this design would be codenamed "F-23 Flounder" ;)
but tastes differ and it does look pretty UFO-esque, that's true :)
Looking forward to your further voyage into artistic freedom!

Thanks guys, and yes it is a deceptively large aircraft! :)

Doesn't look like much progress has been made, but I've been plodding away at blending the upper cockpit faring into the fuselage and sorting out all the assorted joins and re-scribing etc. I also got the engines blended into the wings quite nicely now, as well as the clear nose section which had a bit of a step where it mated to the fuselage. I guess the true test will be when I shoot a coat of primer on it and see if all the effort has paid off.

Also, the wings are now permanently attached, and although only very minor... I've not filled in the joins at the wing roots yet. Will leave it until the glue properly cures, and lastly, the ordinance (bombs and dual rocket launchers) and wing tip tanks have also been assembled and cleaned up as well.
18. January, 02:27
James C
I gave the airframe a coat of Stynylrez grey surface primer yesterday, and am now ready now to begin painting... starting with some pre-shading. I also got all the landing gear components, weaponry and assorted attachments painted and ready for weathering as well.
23. January, 19:12

Came together nicely, barely see any filler! Great base for the final paintjob
24. January, 14:54
James C
Thanks Jos, Roland, WhiteGlint and Slavo :)

I went over all the surfaces with a fine 3000 grit sanding sponge to smooth everything over again, and then got the underside surfaces painted. So today I hope to make a start on the camouflage.

The replacement white metal landing gear struts that I had intended to use were a waste of money and add nothing to the kit detail wise, other than to cause more head-aches. The biggest problem with them is that the axle that attaches to the back side of the main wheels is very short and the recesses where they insert into the wheels is very shallow. Even using CA, I don't have any confidence that the wheels will support the weight of the completed model without snapping off the metal struts. By sticking with the kit parts I'll definitely get a stronger bond.

Thank you David.
Today I worked on the clear nose part and noticed that the complete interior is visible through the large side windows. Because if that I installed some gizmos on the inside such as wiper motors and air conditioning boxes behind the inlets gills. The orange tube and some white cables coming soon.
Then I realized based on excellent pictures of JMSDF machines that the interior is mostly wrong :( , to put in mildly. So I will close the ramp and the door.
23. January, 17:16

Is it too late to correct the interior to allow for open ramp and doors? Or am I not understanding correctly?
