Got to be honest Chrisswe, I gave up on pre-shading. I post shade with oils instead, and lighten and darken as I am laying down the base layer.

Hi Ingmar! Thanks for your support and constructive criticism. I had much help from you on Schleswig-Holstein and this time I was more confident
throughout the project.
I completely agree on the smokestack. There was little improvement from the PE and I forgot I can do somethings myself anyway.
I did a heavier weathering on the hull than before and while I'm not dissatisfied with the result in itself there is a disconnect with the much lighter weathering on the superstructure.

My point was not about too much weathering, but more that on the hull it could be more precise / concise in its execution. I try to precisely paint the streaking or weathering where I want it to be.
For example if you look at this album (picture No1): Kriegsfischkutter KFK | Album by stugiii (1:350) you can find multiple distinct streaks at each opening in the hull.
Or here PHM-1 Pegasus | Album by stugiii (1:350) you can see multiple small fine distinct lines of streaking in multiple colors.
I'm not saying, that my weathering is perfect or that it is the only 'correct' way of doing it. To the contrary, I always feel like I still have a long way to go myself. I really only wanted to provide some thoughts on what could be done different to maybe improve further with the next project.

Thanks Doubtingmango, hope you find the courage. From my limited experience i find ships more forgiving than aircraft, rather big mistakes are often barely noticeable on the completed ship.

I'm planning to build the Trumpeter Enterprise with the Pontos upgrade set. I haven't decided if I should buy the blue stained wooden deck variant or the teak tone deck variant. I understand it is easier to weather the deck if I use the teak variant and add the blue stain myself. I haven't worked with wooden decks before and don't know if this is worth the effort or if
I should do it the easier way with the pre stained deck?

Following as I have also recently started work on this kit. You've already come a long way in just a few weeks time! The instructions have the superstructure upsides in some sort of linoleum color, did you deviate from that for any particular reason?

I found a report by a modeller that seems very knowledgeable that says its wrong with linoleum brown, should be dark grey. Also I have been following "dry dock in scale" on YouTube that also paints the floor dark grey. I had more work to find out how to paint the small lower decks and the "decks" by the secondary guns but finally found a picture from 1939 that shows they are dark grey except the decks by the middle 3 guns which are the same colour as the hull.
