Thanks for the offer Łukasz, but the only time I'll be touching this girl is when I need room in my display cabinet

Have you tried using Solvset? That stuff melts damn near anything.

No I haven't Don. To be honest, I'm not interested in another bottle of softener, while I already have three. I do appreciate the tip, thank you.

Even in the display cabinet, this thing keeps haunting me. Repairs needed and effected.

Wow, you're tough. Good job despite the supernatural circumstances! Some would have chosen the funeral in the garden.

Donald, my wife happened. She occasionally dusts the cabinet. She claims she never breaks anything, but miraculously pieces are wandering around the cabinet...
Ronald, just plain stubborn :D

What a perseverance with this 1 :D

Glad you were able to fight this one to a win. I had my own fight with their 1/48 version and their unbelievably thick decals, need to acquire some super strong softener!

It's a great looking finish despite the troubles it may have given you along the way, so well done for persevering

The F-86 (along with MiG-15) is high on my todo list as well at some point (in 1/48) and I have had a similar experience with an Italeri F-14 that I started several months ago that has sapped any and all enthusiasm to want to put it back on the bench and finish.
11. October, 18:30
Spanjaard
now, get something else on your bench, and start having fun
11. October, 18:50
Martin Oostrom
That is what this easy build was supposed to do!!!
Anyway, thank you gentlemen for your kind words. I also have a MiG-15 to build, but in 72nd.

Very nice F-86 Martin.

I have a pointer for you Bozzer: Don't use Vallejo liquid mask on Alclad silver base. It rips the silver from the plastic on removal.

It took some attempts Spanjaard, but with my support group I cannot fail!
29. November, 09:41
Bozzer
I'm not a big Vallejo fan. I have used on cab interiors etc, but that's about it. It's definitely not my go-to paint. I use a lot of enamel paint, for my vehicles. However, I do love some of the funky modern colours! I've still yet though, to find a very crisp white, and a yellow that goes on easy, without giving me trouble? Both these colours haunt me. There's definitely some sexy blues around, which I wish to seek out and try. I'm not the best for looking online, I like to hold the tin or bottle, so I can make a definite decision. That's not an easy task, during this COVID madness. I shall endeavour however, to seek out the best for my builds

I've just picked up some Alclad candy paint too. It's a tricky paint to use, but once clear coated, it looks the dog's danglies!

And we request even more colour, my mate. Nice to see you progressing on this build
9. June, 21:32
Martin Oostrom
Why build 2 models at the same time, when you can do three? After my moderate succes with Tamiya primer on the Porsche, I had an urge to see some colour. And there was this truck calling me softly...
So I got the primer out of the airbrush and put some yellow in it.
18. November, 19:44

Now that's a nice color :)

I DO know what I'm doing! Sort of, maybe :D
I use this magazine, which has all kinds of techniques, which I mix and match https://scalemates.com/press/issue.php?id=229
It is so much easier to learn when each step is detailed with pictures.
I must confess I'm pretty pleased with the result and even more with your compliments :)

Kirill Kuzin
Good luck with your project Martin. It is very good kit. But I'd recommend you to cut off side skirts, paint them separately and glue them in the end. This will avoid you of some troubles with "wedding"
17. November, 06:19
Martin Oostrom
Wedding. That's a new expression for me. Do you mean something like overspray?
I'll take a look when I get to that stage of the build. Thank you for the suggestion
17. November, 06:27
Kirill Kuzin
"Wedding" in automotive industry is the process of connection the body with the chassis ) Btw I used Studio27 detail-up set for my SV. It is quite difficult to work with all that tiny PE details but they look great on the model
17. November, 06:31

Yes Lode. After my wife, I also tested positive. Irony is, I only left the house for some solo cycling, visits to my parents and the necessary shopping, since March. It seems I have the mild version, I'd describe it as a flue+.

As i am someone who feels like they're missing out without an airbrush it's nice to hear someone else praise working without one!!

Looks good so far. Will follow as I have never built a ship!
20. August, 16:18
Martin Oostrom
Welcome Brian. If you want to be inspired by brush painting, give Augie a look. She is really great with a hairy stick.
The result with an airbrush can be much better, if you're halfway decent. Compared to this build anyway.

Holden are about to cease existing.
Holden was a company that built bodies for General Motors chassis that were imported into Australia.
Ford on the other hand sent everything over except for the wooden components for assembly in Australia.
Holden was able to capitalise on the fact that he was already building bodies for the General Motors chassis and he was able to affiliate with General Motors to form General Motors Holden.
Thus maintaining a relationship with earlier customers with a name already known in Australia.
I'm a Ford man myself.
I like Falcons.
They drive better than Holdens.
I like Holden Monaros but I owned three HQ GTS Monaros and I'd rather look at it than drive it.
I have. '70 XW Falcon sedan, XA Fairmont 2 door, XF Falcon sedan an two AU Falcon sedans and a Ford Courier with a broken gearbox, FN shitbox it is because it's a Mazda

Chaz Gordon
Wilky, I'd disagree, whatever the current trend, I see Ford & GM always having their own Identity, at least on the front. Even the Jelly Mould era in the late 80's & 90's produced significantly different offerings from the two in the same segment.

There is a general similarity across Ford (and former Ford) Brands as their identity was derived from a common design team, such as the current Aston Martin nose to new Ford European vehicles, and the common body structure design of Fords with Volvos, although these are beginning to separate as Volvo develop a new platform, and Ford continues with the Platforms designed for them when they owned the Volvo Development team.
