Spanjaard this weekend unfortunately i have an appointment.... in another continent :D
21. February at 12:36:54
Peter Hardy All those lifts to work and you're unavailable? You could at least offer to mow the lawn while Poor Martin is slaving away keeping Mrs Oostrom happy.
22. February at 11:30:11
Spanjaard Precisely, but you can take a plane and do it yourself, while I am flying in the opposite direction. Actually that would be the best time for you to visit Europe :P
22. February at 15:38:35
J W I'm sure that if Peter had feelings he'd be hurt Spanjaard. But given where he's from he's probably gone a bit Mad Max.
22. February at 21:51:46
Spanjaard Mad Max.... he was just a school kid compared with Peter :P right Mr Hardy? ;)
22. February at 22:10:39
Lode Schildermans I am a fan of Mad Max
22. February at 23:07:08
Peter Hardy Too many plane rides for work Don Quixote! I'd rather walk than catch a plane. Jay Dub, I do have feelings, they are just well hidden... Boo hooooo.... Martin? They are all being nasty to meeeeee!
Actually, I reckon that some of the classic Mad Max Outlander vehicles would be great builds! Not the new movie, but the old Mel Gibson ones. You wanna get outa here? You talk to Me!
23. February at 03:22:37
Martin Oostrom Now children, play nice!
Phew, work was a ***** this week. And now we're of for a shirt weekend vacation :)

Martin Oostrom Made a horrible mistake. My son is on a scouting weekend and my daughter wanted some daddy time. I suggested to build a plane together and she could pick the colour. I meant scheme, she picked purple and turquoise :D
17. February at 15:30:21
Spanjaard Colorful choice..... Enjoy
17. February at 15:56:49
Paulo Almeida as long as you both are having fun colours and sanding are secondary. As Spanjaard says, enjoy! :)

17. February at 20:51:03
Lode Schildermans Who knows what the combination could reveal
17. February at 23:45:59
Maciej Bellos It's a perfect combination of colours. My daughter chose something obvious: PINK! Enjoy Martin!
18. February at 00:20:04
Martin Oostrom I love to exaggerate a bit ;)
I'm happy to "sacrifice" this kit for some quality time. Not sure I'd do the same with my Nelson :P
Maciej, your Hello Kitty Spit was in the back of my mind the whole time
18. February at 00:27:25
Maciej Bellos There is an old Shturmovik coming in pure pink :)

Martin Oostrom As man cave is taken over by the kids, I can't do any painting. So I started another project. As a kid I always wanted this kit. Now I've got it and... it's not up to today's standard. No surprise of course, but the cockpit consists of a pilot figure, nothing more. So I'll depict her as a derelict plane. Faded paint, dirty streaks and a mossy canopy. So, once more a build of firsts.
11. February at 15:23:22
Choppa Nutta I do like a good derelict !! :)
11. February at 16:10:24
Spanjaard really excellent idea. i am in
11. February at 19:17:38
Ekki Me too.
11. February at 22:01:44
Peter Hardy Not too much moss Spanjaard, not a lot of that in the Desert where they live, or die slowly.
11. February at 23:12:33
Martin Oostrom Oh oh. I should have known that Choppa would be drawn to something not too regular. Now I have to match his standard ;)
I realise the painting will have to make the difference. And I'm not the best painter when it comes to chipping, fading etc. Something new to learn
11. February at 23:13:33
Choppa Nutta haha thanks for the compliment Martin :)
as for the mossy canopy, I reckon that would be cool,
Reckon you'll do fine though Martin
especially as these saw service in Nam :)

04. February at 20:47:37
Patrick Hagelstein The P-51B should be nice, the P-51D is only good for getting cheap but good decals. ;)
04. February at 22:06:22
Lode Schildermans Well, Martin, your son is gifted with the same talents as his father. Nice build
06. February at 10:03:28
Peter Hardy I LOVE the Corsair! And a very good build as well. Wish I could do half as well at his age. Heck, I wish I could do half as well now!
06. February at 10:16:19

Peter Hardy I have a weakness for Irish Whiskey, you may propose a toast to absent friends in Jameson's.
05. February at 09:47:13
Spanjaard That can be arranged :)
05. February at 10:02:19
Peter Hardy Spanjaard, I'd be bloody disappointed if it isn't! Martin, please leave the pic of your hobby bench on newsfeed. You have convinced me I am actually quite tidy, comparably. Also, what the heck is the transparent building with the swimming pool on the roof out of your window?
05. February at 10:21:21
Martin Oostrom Jameson it is for the Spirit of Moranbah!
That building is the shed in our back garden where we keep our bikes, gardening tools and so on.
We live in the old continent snd room is pretty scarce around here. Our garden is just over 60 square meters and can be considered as above average in size for the Netherlands.
Ditto for the house. Just under 6 meters wide and 10 in length with two floors and an attic is typical for over here. Not US or Aussie standard I guess.
05. February at 12:15:50
Martin Oostrom Uploaded a picture of our garden after a storm. Clearly shows the size (or lack there of).
And yes Peter, we will be redecorating in may.
05. February at 12:33:11
Spanjaard Nice garden :)
05. February at 16:17:00
Peter Hardy Yep, not too many games of backyard cricket going to happen there! The upside is it wouldn't take long to mow!! I won't show you a pic of my hobby room, you would only hate me. Spanjaard just PM'd me and said he would be at your place to help with the re-decorating

as he is very good with painting and laying tiles and carpet. Good friends like him are hard to find. I would reccomend that you put the stash under lock and key before he gets there though, and I'd search his car before he leaves too. Pretty dodgy characters those Spanjaards.
06. February at 10:08:47
Spanjaard Ha ha ha ! I will be happy to help of course, but my agenda is really busy in the coming months.... Years actually!
Your stash will be safe if I go anyway, I have no space for it in my place! :P

Spanjaard patience Martin... patience ;)
13. December 2017 at 01:09:28
Greg Baker CA and I have a love-hate relationship at the best of times... and I rescribe like spaghetti... but practice makes for more practice!
13. December 2017 at 03:25:04
Donald Dickson II OK...
First. I am guessing a Proxxon is the same as a Dremel. And I use mine to do heavy sanding all the time. Much quicker than using sanding sticks or the like. Just do the detailing with those. I also use it to buff well set metalizers. Handy tool indeed. :)

Havent tried future. Have always just polished out the canopy with sticks then micro mesh. And thinned glosscoat if needed. though I do need to grab some Future and give it a whirl.

PE in 72nd. Headache. LOL

Re scribing. ONLY if absolutely necessary. LOL I suck at it as well. You will NEVER see me sand down a raised panel kit and re scribe. I personally think those that do so have mental issues. ;)

And great job so far Martin!!!
13. December 2017 at 05:05:56
Patrick Hagelstein Proxxon and Dremel are quite alike. I believe that Proxxon is more targeted at the hobbyist market and Dremel is more targeted at the in house DIY market. Proxxon is somewhat finer in their tools.

And I join you on the club of being wonky on scribing. I hate to even think of it when glueing and sanding my stuff. But...practise makes the master they say...
13. December 2017 at 09:06:35

Wim van der Luijt Digital is the way for me too....I've been collecting pdf's for years and also have a monitor on my bench, I find it indispensable
21. January at 16:38:55
Alec K I particularly like the ability to zoom in on details, and to sort references by building stages/progress. It's a pain to constantly thumb through books and magazines to get to the page I am looking for.
21. January at 17:40:26
Steven Van Dyck I think you have to try to find both kinds of sources. For detail pictures online walkarounds are great, but consider information is never for free and mostly websites get their info from written documents or edited books. If you don't mind investing in that, publishers won't sell any new books. Therefore I always search at least one book about the subject I choose. The article I found in SMMI helped me choose the right colors for my G6 project and I suppose the info was given by somebody who has done his research, he even added the correct brake lines. To find info about that I had to search the net for months...
21. January at 22:51:30
Martin Oostrom I agree with you Steven. The hobby room contains more than a few books as well.... I think I could live without modelling (very depressed of course) but not without books
21. January at 23:02:27
Spanjaard I may be saying god bye to my magazines... but i will defend my books to the end :)
22. January at 00:19:14
Alec K Agree 100%. There would not be as many great publications if us modelers stopped purchasing them. I have definitely invested more in books than in models . I do however scan pertinent material from my printed sources when I start my projects, strictly for ease of access.
22. January at 01:03:28
Peter Hardy All valid points however, magazines are pricing themselves out of the market and those from the same publisher reprint articles in a second magazine in their stable a little too often for my likeing. I have settled with a subscription with Finescale and spend a lot of time with my best friend, Google Search. Amazing what that man knows!! I just picked up a copy of The New Breed - North Africa Colour and Markings on Ebay for $20A.
22. January at 01:16:34
Wim van der Luijt I should rephrase.....digital is the way for me (on my workbench) I also have quite a few hardcopies lining my bookshelves.
