I was able to get some pictures outside yesterday - it was late, so lighting still isn't ideal, but the Michigan sun isn't known for being particularly cooperative.
The green & gold looks very good Brandon. Great job
Thanks Martin! I'm really happy with how the colors look. Now I just have to polish everything...
This is an awesome build and report, Brandon 👍

Nice truck! The logging trailer looks great too.
Great job buddy!
Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Had a lot of fun with this one.
Like it very much!
That looks amazing
I am not a truck fan at all but this one here looks great. In my opinion the perfect amount of weathering 👍
Feels like it was so long ago! Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed!
Love it Brandon.
Look very nice. Like a real.

No downtime around here. Time to start the next build by nerding out about the engine build.
I seem to remember some of the trucks had basic engines covering a variety of different kits , some newer issues had no engine at all hence the cottage industries set up providing photo etch and resin parts. Watching your build with interest.
Following a masterbuilder to learn how it should be build 😄
Master?! You're too kind haha 🙂 Glad to have some mates along for the ride though, been looking forward to this build for a while!
I love how much work you and many others mates put into these builds, I'm already happy when my oob builds look something similar as the boxart lol
I've noticed that on my Scania some of the plastic parts are really soft, is that normal on newer Italeri kits?
How soft are we talking? I haven't manhandle too many of the parts from this kit yet, so I can't be sure. The last Italeri kit I did was shot fairly recently (I think), and I didn't notice anything unusual about the material.
Normally when using alclad black primer for the alclad chrome it gives a shiny surface, now it looks like the paint get sucked into the plastic even after 3 layers it won't give a nice shine with the chrome.
I did the motor with normal black gloss paint and then alclad chrome it looks good(ish)
Same when I cut a part from the sprue and need to clean the part, I need to be very carefull cuz you go thru the plastic like a warm knife thru butter.. didn't have this with older kits

Nice kit, but make sure that the chassis is square. The hood closes onto the side fairings and on mine, it seems to pull the whole fairings forward, putting stress on the rear fender brackets.
Thanks for the heads up! I'm actually only using the frame and axles from this kit, but I'll pay extra attention when squaring up that chassis. Might get in touch with some of my machinist friends for that...
It's easy enough to do, with a set square, but some guys use Lego. Sounds stupid, but it gives us perfect right angles and can be adjusted to whatever you want. Just a thought brother.

I'm on for the ride!! You only have the engine and it's already masterfully done!!!
What brand/color of paint do you use for the chrome on top?
Thanks Chris, glad you like it! The valve cover is actually already metal plated in this kit, although I've painted the bottom half to better match the real thing; that's just a Testor's silver/chrome that I use a lot of.
All the painted detail to the interior looks great! All those buttons and dials 😄
That turned out great!
Fantastic job. Looks great!
Thanks guys, glad you like it! Always super satisfying to finish up a long project.
How did I miss this? Excellent all but the standout for me is the motor & that gorgeous paint
Wow! Awesome result. I'll attempt to get some of that level detail in the rigs I am building. Thanks for the inspiration.
