Gobsmacking it is! The cast detail is incredibly crisp, especially for 1:72 scale. Really well done.

Roland Sachsenhofer
incredible! Plenty of details on the resin- and on your work you did in the cockpit! That will be another inspiring beauty I am sure!
I will follow with interest!

seems like a mighty nice kit... beautiful work to. How do you glue the fuselage halves? Have a few resin kits myself but I always hesitate to start these... Is it better to use cyano, or 2 component glue?
7 September 2016, 14:53
Bill Gilman
I've added some new photos, the fuselage is closed and now I'll start working on adding the tail. Cheers!

Hi Bart, I use superglue (CA adhesive) unless the fit is really bad, then I will go to 2-part 5 minute epoxy. This one fit pretty good, so superglue was all that was used.

It's almost impossible to use superglue and glue the entire fuselage together at once, so I tape it together first, then work on one area at a time, first removing the tape and then applying the superglue into the seam with a #11 scalpel blade (since the rest of the fuselage is still taped together, you can't spread the seam apart much, so a thin blade is perfect to get the glue in.) Then I move on to the next area, eventually working my way all around the fuselage. Hope I explained that OK! 🙂

Thx for the explanation, will give it a try soon...

Hi mates, I've added some more pictures of the Buccaneer S.1. I've advanced to the stage where she is primed and almost ready for her coat of white. The overall white scheme carried by the aircraft used for the carrier trials aboard HMS Ark Royal is quite distinctive, and will make a nice contrast with the rest of my FAA models, which are mostly all Extra Dark Sea Grey. The instruction booklet says to use Titanium White as the colour, but I'm wondering if it should perhaps be Anti-flash White. Maybe they're the same? Cheers, Bill

Lots of progress on the Brick - I think she looks pretty good in her coat of anti-flash white. It's certainly a scheme not often seen on a Buccaneer. Not much more left to do! Cheers, Bill

Tha's done a reet crackin' job on thy Bucc, our Bill (let's see Google try and translate THAT from Blackburn!). Seriously, as beautifully hand-built as the real thing (and they say the real thing was hand-built because some of the design tolerances were so tight/poor, they literally hammered bits into place at the factory!). Great stuff as always Bill!

Sed non possum amplius partes. EGO coniecto ut suus 'perfectus est! (Well, I can't find any more parts. I guess that means it's finished!) Another one for the display case - lots of photos added. I especially like the ones at the end of the album with the S.1 and S.2B together. Blackburn's finest! Cheers, Bill

Thanks guys, I have to change the jury struts though - they're too long and consequently the wings aren't angled in enough. The wing tips should be closer at the top. That's what I get for using the struts that came with the S.2 kit, and copying them for the S.1. As they are, they're 18mm long, and they should be 12-13mm.

Album info

This is the new Scale Resin kit from CMR Moulding & Casting. Having also built CMR's S.Mk.2 Buccaneer I can say that this is all new tooling, and not an adaptation of the older kit. This one is better detailed, but some parts suffer from some awkward attachment points to the pour block, which the older kit didn't have. Nothing that can't be dealt with however.
