This plane is so damn cool real steam punk.. Parts of He 177, Ju 388 and Ju 352!!and B-24 (Mainwheels) were used. The Main wings were taken from the project EF116 by Junkers. And it flew many times and would have been not that bad with the right engines.
14 January 2019, 16:18
Donald Dickson II
They came up with so many wild looking planes. Wild for the time period I mean.
14 January 2019, 16:22
Guy Rump
Following with interest Daniel 🙂

Hi Guys, thank you and take your seats 👍
The fit and detail is really not bad for such an old Short run kit.. Huma made some very interesting projects and Planes.
What a pity they aren't any more..
The Resin Jumos looks fine too 👍
16 January 2019, 18:23
Spanjaard

Thank you all for your attendance Guys 👍
Small Update done... WIngs and Fuselage halfs glued.
The fit is really not bad for such an rather old kit of a small Manufacturer. I would say it is one of their best Offerings.

David Januska

David Januska
Well I've checked Huma models portfolio and every piece is a pearl. I even don't know half of these interesting planes. Did they still produce a kits and export them to other countries?
20 January 2019, 08:40
Glenn
Oh NO! You put da wings on backwards!!!! No, just kidding i must build mine one day!
20 January 2019, 08:55
Daniel Klink
@David First no the MAnufacturer Huma does not exist anymore since 5-7 years or so.
But until 2 years ago they were still many pieces on the Market especially here: vdmedien24.de/navi.php?qs=Huma
you can still find some of them. The quality of their range is quite variable... the last kits they made like the Ju 287, Ju 288 or the Kalkert and Achgelis are very good. The earlier offerings like the Me 209 and 309 etc are typical short run stuff from the eighties so 30 years ago.
Myself have one the P1101 (one of the better quality kits) for trading;)

@Glenn
yap that looks really weird, but it flew and it was a promising construction .

20 January 2019, 09:25
David Januska
Thank you Daniel for your information. For me Ju 288 seemed very atractive. I've got two Ju 88, Ju 188 so that one will perfectly fit to my collection. I also found some positive reviews for this kit yeasterday in the night. I've got serious interest for this kit. I'll try the link you have provided for me.

Yap the real Transformers.. As the Allies first saw it, the nickname "Hitlers Frankenstein Monster" was immediately given. 🙂

The forward swept wing was way ahead of it's time. The materials available when these aircraft were made could not handle the forces on the leading edge. At certain AOA, they will fail. With the advent of more advance alloys like titanium and unobtanium and of course carbon fiber, we can now take advantage of the FSW's better rate of turn even in extreme Gs. X-29 always comes to my mind. Butan made a few protoypes. But the old german x-planes is just genius and ahead of everyone. I'm just glad we won and stole their scientists!!! It's looking great. Can't wait for paint.

31 January 2019, 14:17

31 January 2019, 14:52
Daniel Klink
Welcome Alec ! Honestly was a little worried, where you were😉 Thank you 👍
@DAvid yes but it was modified and the nacelles were a bit longer.
31 January 2019, 17:26
Alec K
Sorry Dan, hope my tardiness shall not get me expelled from the party... 😄
31 January 2019, 17:53
Daniel Klink
Of course not Alec.. !
ThanksJames 👍
But i made a mistake withe the turboengine..
In fact it should be flat alu despite the black hull which i painted correctly. But the shortness of materials led to reduce the consumption of raw materials to the minimum, even for such a Hi Tech Development. But it should be produced in large numbers ( and it was (nearly 6000units of the different versions) and so they used mainly simple sheet coated with a aluminium varnish.
I orientated on the A Version of the engine, but the Ju 287 had the B-1 version of the Jumo 004 mounted.

6 June 2019, 12:44

My condolances for your loss.....and speaking as a double divorcee: it's tough but it will get better, focus on the fun things, there are plenty left
6 June 2019, 14:02
Daniel Klink
Whoa, thank you all so much guys for your kind words and your condolence..
The Divorce is a bad thing the twosome future planning is obsolete but you can deal with it and got it in your own hands.
But at the same time my father suddenly died at age 87 from a brain circulation that led into coma.
It was his wish, that when he is only kept alive by machines and there is no hope, to shut them off.
So we (my family) did so one week later after rehearsal with the doctor. It was the hardest thing and decision i have experienced by now. But it was my fathers wish and decision and that is to accept without any doubts.

Said that i am still struggling with it - but life must go on. So many kits still to do
So sorry for my abscence mates.. I missed this too..
6 June 2019, 14:26
Holger Kranich

Dear Daniel, really sorry about those bad news. I can imagine how it was to make such decision. But remember there are bad times but also good times. And time is a great healer. Wishing you good times to come and let the scale modelling and other hobbies will help you to get through these hard times. And looking forward for your new kits shared with us.

My condolences for your lost. Quite a hard decision indeed, but it seems the right choice. It is strange how sometimes life throws consecutive sad things to you.... but then next will be a lot more possive.
And the bench can be sometimes a good therapy😉

25 April 2020, 15:00
Greg Baker
What was with the white spots anyway?
26 April 2020, 05:31
Wim van der Luijt
I guess it's for aerodynamic testing....that's also why the camera is mounted on the spine....the white spots are tape to hold tufts of wool to visualize airflow......like on this wing

Album info

My interpretation shows the V1 in AUgust 1944 at Leipzig Brandis just before its Maiden Flight..with the thermical and aerodynamic test setup.

The white spots on darker areas were fitted with some kind of string or thread on the upper wings
