Great start Roland ! These seats are awesome ! Must have been are real pain in the rear to sit on these things for hours and hours.
Like the Lanc the Stirling is a real ugly beauty. I'm curious on this one !
30 March 2016, 19:48
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you Hanno! Indeed- at first I could hardly believe that these seats looked like those etched parts- but indeed! In 1:72 this cockpit looks quite lovely with these gratings🙂
30 March 2016, 19:51
Hanno Kleinecke
Indeed it does ! The kit seems to be quite good, panellines look very crisp.

Stephan Ryll
Roland,

I think you have to stop breathing when you work on those teenie parts -respect 👍
30 March 2016, 20:19
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you both! Oh yes, the Stirling surfaces look quite convincing to me; I am really pleased by the parts general appearance.
Thank you Stephan for mentioning "breathtaking work on teenie parts" 🙂
31 March 2016, 04:51
Martien Lourens
I have the other Stirling from Italery. Also the etchparts. I 'm not sure that I will succeed to made excellent seats like those you have made. Excellent work so far on this beautiful kit.

Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you mates for these kind and motivating comments! Martien, I am looking forward to your "bomber" Stirling!
31 March 2016, 19:11
Thomas Bischoff
I built the old Airfix Stirling years and years ago.
31 March 2016, 19:48
Łukasz Gliński
Interesting topic and a nice start - I'm gonna have a look from time to time 🙂
1 April 2016, 07:36
Stefan Schacht
nice start, i am in. Cheers Stefan
1 April 2016, 10:24
Christian Bruer
ah the start of another masterpiece! Well, I'll take a seat.
1 April 2016, 17:10
Roland Sachsenhofer
Your words are quite motivating, mates!
I am really eager to get this lovely kit build, Italeri did really very nice work!
3 April 2016, 18:47
Roland Sachsenhofer
The impressive fuselage has been closed- Italeri provides a lot of hatches which could be posed open!
The main struts of the undercarriage have to be attached inside the wheel bay, before the halfs of the wings can be glued together...... unusual, but there is no other way! 🙂
5 April 2016, 19:19
Stefan Fraundorfer
5 April 2016, 21:04
David Thor
The cockpit looks great, keep up the good work! 🙂
5 April 2016, 21:06
Roland Sachsenhofer
Hey, thank you both, mates, I am doing my best! 🙂
6 April 2016, 08:26
Christian Bruer
Nice and fragile parts on the landing gear. Looking forward to some more progres🙂
6 April 2016, 17:29
Roland Sachsenhofer
Oh yes, the landing gear is quite well casted, subtle and precise in detail and proportion.
I am looking forward building this very pleasing kit!
6 April 2016, 19:55
Roland Sachsenhofer
All the seams have been filled with Cyanacrylat- and the clear parts got their masks.... this is a work you should take plenty of time for, even with the great help of the Eduards masking set.
9 April 2016, 15:38
Soeren R.
Really nice start ! Count me in
9 April 2016, 15:45
Roland Sachsenhofer
That´s nice- of course! 🙂
Just glued the clear parts- the Stirling´s bow is taking shape.....
9 April 2016, 15:48
Roland Sachsenhofer
Some progress here- the Stirling is ready now for the paintwork on the upper half. Preshading has been done with black and white paint to get a greater contrast.
The kit is clever made but a little bit tricky- you have to think intentlyhow you are doing things and in which sequence.....
24 April 2016, 10:37
Christian Ristits
24 April 2016, 14:59
Clifford Keesler
Very nice start.
24 April 2016, 21:27
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you Clifford fo your words!
27 April 2016, 18:22
Dieter Bihlmaier
Roland, ich habe deine He-219 auf Hyperscale gesehen. Die ist echt Klasse geworden!
27 April 2016, 19:26
Roland Sachsenhofer
Many thanks Dieter and James!
28 April 2016, 15:28
Roland Sachsenhofer
Gunzes H72 "Dark Earth" has been applied; time to make the last corrections before the surfaces get finished!
30 April 2016, 11:24
Soeren R.
Really nice paint job! 🙂 Cant wait to see the finished kit.
30 April 2016, 13:45
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you Sören! I will do my best 🙂
30 April 2016, 17:20
Soeren R.
Ive no doubt in that😉 Can't wait to get back on my table to build agaon in 2 months... but till then I watch this build 😛
30 April 2016, 17:44
Roland Sachsenhofer
It will be a pleasure to see you at work again Soeren
30 April 2016, 18:32
Soeren R.
We will see, probably have lost all my beginner skilsl till then😉, but yeah I must admit that I miss modelling at the moment.
30 April 2016, 18:35
Roland Sachsenhofer
Ok Sören, I guess you have already lost your beginner skills- exactly at the time when you have started to build in that masterly fashion we had the pleasure to see here on "Scalemates" 🙂
30 April 2016, 19:47
Soeren R.
😢 Thx, but we will talk about that again as soon I will start building again and till then its only about your nice Stirling here😉
30 April 2016, 20:02
Roland Sachsenhofer
The upper-surfaces have been applied- I scratched with a metal needle careful into the fresh paint to simulate some abrasions and decent wear and tear. This will be enhanced by cautious sanding of the whole surfaces after having finished the paint shop.
1 May 2016, 17:30
Lex Jassies
What a beautiful brute of plane! Very nice work.
1 May 2016, 19:48
Łukasz Gliński
Nice scratching trick - something to remember
Watching your progress makes me wanna have one too😉
1 May 2016, 19:55
Christian Keller
2 May 2016, 05:09
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you all for your kind replays, mates!
The Stirling is under cover again- this time to get a coat of black on the belly.
I am using Gunzes "Gloss Black" to ease applying of the decals, even a quite dull finish of the black is intended.
3 May 2016, 08:02
Clifford Keesler
Looking very impressive Roland!, The Stirling is my second favorite British WWII bomber, beat out by the Lanc.
3 May 2016, 21:31
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you Clifford!
I fully agree- it was just time for Italeri to offer such up to date Stirlings
4 May 2016, 07:28
Roland Sachsenhofer
A first coat of gloss clear followed by applying decals has been done as a first step to finish the surfaces. All the intended "wear and tear" will be done after having sprayed a second step of Gunzes floss clear.
5 May 2016, 08:45
Christian Bruer
Excellent 👍
5 May 2016, 18:19
Roland Sachsenhofer
That´s a great compliment, thank you Christian!
5 May 2016, 19:26

Bill Gilman
Beautiful craftsmanship, Roland! I missed this until now, but I am glad I found it! 👍 👍 👍
6 May 2016, 16:34
Clifford Keesler
Awesome job Roland, I love it.
6 May 2016, 23:20
Roland Sachsenhofer
Hey mates, all your kind comments really make me glad- thank you!
Because of many period pictures show the Stirlings opulent arrangement of wheel struts looking quite worn and with a lot of abrasions of paint I scratched with a sharp needle some of the black paint of-to reveal the Aluminum painted first.
7 May 2016, 13:04
Es-haq Khosravi
Greaaaat job!
7 May 2016, 13:07
Roland Sachsenhofer
Es-haq, thank you!
7 May 2016, 13:09
Roland Sachsenhofer
Some picture of the -still unfinshed- wheel struts and the tires. It will need some last work with the try-brush to get this area finished 🙂
The other surfaces should have found their final appearance- this build is in the home-strait.....
8 May 2016, 16:56
Roland Sachsenhofer
This short-story has been written in a rather short time- finished at last!
Here you get some pictures of this very nice Italeri kit. Not always logical in it´s parts layout it has been a real fun to build anyway.
Thanks for your comments and interest!
14 May 2016, 12:42
Bill Gilman

14 May 2016, 19:17
Soeren R.
Wonderful finish and amazing result!
You ve build a masterpiece here - again 🙂

Can I ask how and where did you make those pictures?
Im currently looking for a good setup for my pictures in the future.
14 May 2016, 20:39
Erik Leijdens
Fantastic result Roland! 👍
14 May 2016, 20:54
Hanno Kleinecke
Hey Roland, you made a beautiful model of this wonderfully odd looking bird !
14 May 2016, 21:00
Roland Sachsenhofer
Wow, that´s motivating! Thank you very much for these kind words!
Soeren, I am using my Nikon with very long shutter speed and aperture as closed as possible to get a wide depth of field- and it´s mounted on a tripod, of course 🙂 You can see two pictures of my improvised "studio".
15 May 2016, 05:36
Dave Flitton
It's GORGEOUS!!!!!
17 May 2016, 20:45

Great job Roland, she's a real beauty.👍👍👍
21 May 2016, 09:35
Christian Bruer
Excellent work Roland 👍 Glad you share some photos of you work bench. Much space and good light as well as a lot of space to spare all the stuff you need 👍
21 May 2016, 10:55
Bernhard Schrock
Großartiges Ergebnis Roland! Respekt auch in Anbetracht der Modellgrösse! Alles in einem Stück lackiert?
21 May 2016, 12:22
Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you again for all these very kind and motivating words!
Christian, may it´s not tidy and "shipshape" -but spacious! 🙂
Bernhard, danke Dir! 🙂
21 May 2016, 15:00
Bernhard Schrock
In einem Stück = Tragflächen dran. 🙂
21 May 2016, 15:11
Roland Sachsenhofer
Ah!
22 May 2016, 11:43
Bernhard Schrock
22 May 2016, 12:06
Roland Sachsenhofer
22 May 2016, 12:45
gorby
Absolutely stunning Stirling Roland. That's also a very impressive work room - yet again I have 'work-space envy'.
27 November 2016, 10:21
Christian Keller

Hi mates, thank you very much for these very kind and motivating comments to Stirling and work space!
Indeed, Italeris Stirling kit is a modellers delight! 🙂

i fully agree with robygould, i am envious of your work-space. and of course, the model is simply fantastic.

Amazing job Roland, well done.
29 November 2016, 21:56
