Copper State Models was known for resin kits, now located in Lettland under new ownership. This kit was the first plastic kit. Really pitty, the Premium Edition is no more available (may be ebay or some seller still have it in stock). I will show the differences during the build or visit my review on Modellboard.

Daniel KlinkBecause he is shameless. Even in small exhibitions i have to sit with my constructions right next to him and his perfect squadrons.. But otherwise he is one really nice and funny guy and thats the more important thing for me, and that 90% of the visitors just walks by or looking through my works on the table 🙂
But more impressive for me than the quaity of each of Bughunters works is the output of them in numbers and in nearly no time.

bughunterA warm welcome to the new visitors!
These parts have been stored in a half-finished state for far too long and are really worth to convert it to a biplane! One reason for the delay was a Memorial Group Build. I was awarded for my result (the yellow/blue Fokker D.VII) with a free selection of two sets of the actual Pheon decal program - thanks to the sponsor Pheon! One of my selections was the Dolphin/Snipe set, because the decals on my Snipe kit from HiTech are much to old. As side effect this offers the possibility to not do the C4131 (decal of the premium kit edition) as planned but paint the nose are other parts blue and built the colorful C3799 by Capt Irving 👍
Sometimes it really helps to wait a bit😉

Slavo HazuchaI see you are working in an accelerated mode too! 🙂 Missed this before, but at least I now had something nice to set my eyes upon on a Sunday evening... I really like the seat - probably not even in the top 10 challenging affairs in this build, but it's just so nice... (maybe my time in the garden today helps me see things this way... 😄). And the blue is just gorgeous - it may have one DNA-string in common with Peter's Aussie truck, but it surely does look absolutely "royal" on a plane too!

bughunterWelcome! Slavo, most of the work was done 2018, but stopped due to a group build. After being annoyed by decals, I turned to this shelf queen. The blue one is the only colorful Dolphin I know, the others uses Battleship Grey noses or PC10. Gunze H5 matches nearly the blue ring of cockades, if painted dark in many layers.
Wim, see pics 28-30, then you will know why it is so hard to make them fit. That is often the problem with aftermarket parts, also engines. They are in scale, but do not fit to the thick plastic cowlings etc. The kit parts are undersized to make them fit.

bughunterThank you my friends, but I have build better models. There was not enough gloss here and there, so I got a lot of silvering, also some bubbles. I tried to recover with Daco Strong - better, but not perfect.
From a distance it will be ok😉

bughunterThx Wim! Bernhard, you made my day! I just created fake cogwheels of a looking-ok-diameter, and Bernhard counts the teeth😉 But you are right, it was somehow a pump. The book describes the Constantinesco interruptor as hydraulic. This allows faster rate of fire than mechanical systems, due to lack of inertia. Each pipe controls one of the Vickers MGs.

bughunterI masked the wheels first and removed the MRP PC10 with a cotton swab and alcohol (C2H5OH), not to wet. This works also for Gunze. The Alclad grey primer resists. Fortunately no alcohol got under the masking film! So the "rubber" paint with a Gunze grey is still ok.

bughunterThe manual of the Pheon decals recommends to create the struts using boxwood. You don't have to tell me things like that twice!

bughunterOne step forward, two backwards. The frame between the upper wings breaks 😭 The struts needs to be shortened further and repainted - but now it is a biplane!
The project is now on hold until a parcel arrives from Greece.

bughunterNearly ... I have the stash full of turnbuckles, but this bird don't use them. Again a british biplane with "RAF wires". These are aerodynamically profiled rods with threads at the ends. The best representation I created for the Bristol Crocodile, but this is huge effort. So I want to try something new while using the kit PE holders.

@Daniel Elegant? Due to the stagger wings I find it a bit on the ugly side 😉
@Bernhard Wooden struts is nothing new on my biplanes - very often used, if the original uses alse wood. See for example Sopwith Schneider Monaco Racer 1914 | Album by bughunter (1:48) But I used until now pear (in german Birne) and have used boxwood (in german Buchsbaum) only for my airscrews. I don't have much boxwood, it is not cheap, hard to get and now the "Buchsbaumzünzler" (varmint) kill all the trees in middle Europe. On the Dolphin the wood was very bright, as far as I now ash (german Esche), so the manual of the Pheon Decal set recomments to use the bright boxwood, or bamboo.

bughunterAfter a lot of work to create RAF wire terminals from scratch (see my Bristol Fighter project) now a nice solution is available from Gaspatch Models.

bughunterJa, das sind die brandneuen Gaspatch RAF terminals. Siehe Bilder 121-124, Lineal liegt in 124 darunter. Ich mußte den bereits montierten Kitätzteilen die Nasen abbrechen, dabei kam an mehreren Stellen (16 Strebenendpunkte!) die Grundierung zum Vorschein, siehe z.B. 126 links unten hinten. Habe auf den Bildern ja nur die schönen gezeigt😉 Muß ich noch nachpinseln.

bughunterI have only used the metal ones, beside this new resin type. I ordered a huge amount for the kits in my stash years ago after trying some, since you never know how long is a product of a small company is available.

Roland, welcome to the show! And so much praise from a builder of super-clean models means a lot for me! The kudos for the PE goes to Copper State Models, which created this great kit! And this was the first plastic kit of this group of new owners, the Caudron G.IV are fantastic too. I hope there will be more models in 1/48 after the latest 1/32 Nieuports.
That cowling parts are not the smallest, there are two side lockers for the windscreen frame😉 More from this stage soon.

Moe details are mounted and tried some brush painting for details and repairs. To fix scratches and other small problems with the MRP colors and a brush is hard, but possible.
