Desert Marlin Took two years to finish this kit back in 2011. I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what colors to use on it. Not sure if others think it looks correct.

Spanjaard "correct" tends to be subjective, specially in regards to colors. I fully agree with Mikael. and to be honest, I like how it looks!

Desert Marlin Thank you Villiers! Lots of time searching pictures from the time of the war. I built this one to be given to an A-4C pilot from Venezuela who flew them in the Malvinas Conflict. He lives in Florida now. (last I knew). This pilot was having an actual A-4C restored to flight worthiness in Arizona.

Desert Marlin Eduard markings (from Italy) and the Alclad and Aqua Gloss Clear are NOT COMPATIBLE with SOLVASET. The SOLVASET is too aggressive for them.
Desert Marlin What's already been done:
1) Carve the inlets back
2) Remove formation lights
3) Scribe a ton of panel lines

Desert Marlin Painted the yellow bands first with Mr. Color H329 yellow. Mr. Surfacer 1500 underneath. Totally cleaned the plastic first. Coated the yellow with Tamiya Clear Lacquer finish. Used Mr. Color Leveling thinner to clean off the plastic that was not going to get the yellow bands. Then masked the yellow and proceeded to paint the silver. Started with Alclad Polished Aluminum first. Shows every single imperfection in the plastic. Have touched it up several times. Now finishing the aluminum panels up and making sure there are no worn through spots in the aluminum finish. Next will be using the Vallejo Polyurethane Gloss Varnish to seal the polished aluminum. Then decals. Kitty Hawk Decals...
