I wonder, was the color airbrushed directly onto the plastic without primer?

This one was all Tamiya/Gunze acrylics over a very light coat of Citadel primer. Now admittedly most of the primer on the upper surfaces was sanded back off to get everything smooth. I now have Alcad to try on my F-94B project, but honestly the all-metal finishes terrify me.

Thanks! I'm trying to do more metal finishes since I'm not great at them. This one went together like a dream. I recently bought the F-5E recon version and it is a horrible kit with bad panel lines and fit problems galore. Hard to believe they're from the same company.

Very nice. I used to be terrified of metal finishes as well. I discovered Alclad II. I learned that if you take into account the widely published precautions, it works perfectly.

Thanks mates! Yes Francky I'm going to try out the Alcad on my F-94 build. I've seen very good results both here and at local model shows.

Nathan, your metal finish in this one looks really good. looking forward what you do with Alclad. if i can give a suggestion, work on the surface like your life depends on it. well your life not, but alclad depends a lot on how much you work on the surface (or how polished is already). any imperfection is magnified a lot😉

I copy Spanjaard his words, in addition, build up the layers very slowly on a correct base coat( sometimes gloss black, sometimes grey). Don't try to cover in one go or you will get tears in alclad on the model, and in your eyes because its ruined 🙂

I fully endorse Francky statement 🙂

I have yet to Try Alclad's, they scare me also. I have used Model Master metalizers and Vajello metalizers, with good results. I am thinking of trying Alclad's on my F-86's.

And do not forget a good mask (not just one for dust), that stuff is not exactly healthy.....
Not something to use heavily in the living room with the family😉
