Christian W +crying* What happened with the suspesion? Why you didn't fix that? I built a Hand full of the ZR-1 and had no issue with any model kit so far :(

M.Julian Marles Sweet kit
4. January 2015 at 11:01:11
Curtis Caden The plastic piecing particularly for the bed was really good but I had my problems with tape bleed on the cab with a wood color interior and the white and red exterior. I challenged myself to do the roof in red while the illustration showed all white with red fenders. Just goes to show what online research will lead you to try on a scale model. Not real sure about the correct engine color. I found the stove bolt six in both blue and green. Someone thought that cars had the blue ones and trucks had the green ones. I painted mine blue anyway. I also think the firewall should have been that gooey like black stuff but many restored vehicles painted the firewall in the body color and some even painted the engine in body color. Anyway I had fun with it! Thanks Julian for recognizing how neat a kit this can be.

10. December 2017 at 18:44:32
Curtis Caden Thanks James C. This is a Revell of Germany model and I thought it would be a better one but some of the instructions and some of the part fits have been disappointing. The kit certainly has lots of parts and lots of chrome. Hopefully when all dressed out in decals it will prove to be a decent model.

Bruce Grayson Nice job. Just to clear up a bit of confusion: the Pak 36 (37mm) was L45. The tank gun used on the Pzkw IV up to and including the Ausf F1 was only 24 calibres long, though.

Bill Newcomer Of all the models I have seen that get weathered. THIS one needs it the most.
9. May at 05:54:08
Curtis Caden Bill you are correct. I have a Caterpillar bulldozer that I dull coated but it still needs the chalky look to the paint. I weathered the engine with Tamiya Weathering Master and rusted the exhaust but with warmer weather I am hoping to dust the yellows on the dozer and the backhoe. Point well taken. Curt
9. May at 20:23:56
Bill Newcomer Don't forget to bare metal the buckets and add some good ol' dirt.

10. May at 12:07:03
Bozzer Were there any fitment problems with this kit? I'm just about to aquire one.
18. June at 08:18:26
Curtis Caden Bozzer let me just say that I was less than thrilled with all the parts being left movable. The back hoe doesn't quite have the motion the real one does. The feet are designed to snap up and hold but in real life should also be able to lock down and lift the back wheels. The main pivot on the backhoe makes it kind of fall down. Hindsight would have had me rethink about posing the tractor as opposed to trying to make it "operational". My wheel stance is also a bit off on the front too. May weather it and possibly glue some things into a pose.
23. June at 20:58:13
Bozzer Well the good news is it's due to arrive today. I actually got it for a great price, $50 including shipping. I've only ever seen 1 other and your awesome pictures. This is eventually gonna be a load for my lowboy trailer. I wanted to be different and not have the dozer. Bill, best of luck finding one buddy. These are like hens teeth!
24. June at 05:29:24
Bill Newcomer Bozzer, That's OK. I have so many cars and trucks to build, construction vehicles are not even on the radar.
24. June at 06:08:40
Bozzer There's actually one on eBay buddy, but he wants $110 for it, plus shipping. They do look cool though, I gotta admit.

Curtis Caden Well guys especially Tim Peter and Chris you were entertaining and informative. I am working on an International Paymaster 5000 truck at present. Good 'ol AMT kit with only one paint color specified and that is that the International engine should be "medium metallic blue",
17. May at 17:11:00
Tim Heimer I only know the old CAT and Cummins colors, interesting that Internationals have a metallic blue one! Thanks Curtis! Keep up the good work!

Curtis Caden Tim I'm down to the final decals and red lights on the cement mixer. Engine looks great! LOL. The big trucks are interesting in that there are so many options.

Curtis Caden Testors bought out Hawk and they have been repoped. Thanks Timothy.
25. April at 01:18:50
Curtis Caden Hawk Model Airplanes was established in 1928 by brothers Dick (Sr.) and Phil Mates in Chicago, Illinois. Promoted as "America's Oldest Model Company", the company was purchased by the Testors Corporation in 1970.The Hawk Company assets were later acquired by J. Lloyd International, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which, in turn, sold them to Round2 LLC of South Bend, Indiana in 2013.

Weird-Ohs came out in 1962 and first debuted in 1963 at the Chicago Hobby Convention. I ran into a guy at the Model Train Show that claimed he was selling original Weird-Oh models and that the ones I had were repops. I told him it 1) wasn't worth the extra money and 2) I liked my new decals. No sale! I'm not sure about their collectability value I bought several at about $10 each. I have two and donated the rest to the Wright Field Scale Modelers for their meeting raffles. I don't know if any of the guys that one them ever built them. Timothy you should try to pick one up at a local IPMS show or on eBay!

28. April at 02:30:00
Curtis Caden Timothy don't forget that there were not only models but music and poetry! This was a 1964 promotional release for the Hawk model company, geared to the release of a line of Weird-Oh plastic model kit characters. Separate, expanded LPs of the Silly Surfers side ("The Sounds Of The Silly Surfers" ;) and the Weird-Ohs side ("The Sounds Of The Weird-Ohs" ;) were released later in the year on the Mercury label, under those same titles. https://discogs.com/Silly-Su..ke-Models-By/release/5051673

Curtis Caden Robert I have been "hiding" as we moved last Summer and it has taken me a while to get back to building. I have also been building craftsman model locomotive kits in G gage 1:22.5 scale and HO gage 1:87.1 scale. To get me back in the mood I pulled out some of my silliest models and built the garage truck surf hot rod and Endsville Eddie. I'm going to work on some construction and farm equipment next.

gorbygould Nice job. I've been looking for this kit for a while.
24. April at 16:33:38
Curtis Caden Thanks gorbygould. The kit was a gift from my high school chemistry teacher. Not sure where he got it. Seems like something someone would buy at the Henry Ford Museum gift shop. I built a couple of VWs for my teacher and he gave me all his models and paints that I think were his sons. Anyway I thought it would be a fun thing to build.
25. April at 01:22:29
wilky I only recently heard about this aircraft.
Good job on the kit.
Interesting story behind this aircraft
25. April at 04:59:32
Curtis Caden So is this story: The Ford Trimotor was Henry Ford's first successful commercial aircraft venture in 1925. Following the Ford Model T as an "everyman's" vehicle, the Ford Flivver was designed to be a mass-produced "everyman's" aircraft. The idea was first proposed to William Bushnell Stout, manager of Ford's acquired aircraft division in 1926. Both Stout and William Benson Mayo, head of Ford's Aircraft Division wanted nothing to do with the aircraft and it was built in a nearby museum building in the Ford Laboratories.
The single-seat aircraft was designed with Mr. Ford's instructions that it "fit in his office". The first example was displayed at the 1926 Ford National Reliability Air Tour. The press and public flocked to see "Ford's Flying Car," a single-seat aircraft that had very little in common with the popular Model T "Flivver." Comedian Will Rogers posed for press photos in the aircraft (although he never flew one). A New York Evening Sun columnist wrote the following poem showing excitement for the future flying Fords.
I dreamed I was an angel And with the angels soared But I was simply touring The heavens in a Ford.
The name of the aircraft, "flivver", originated from a slang word in the early twentieth century designating an inexpensive car.
