Kermits duds. Did you like it. ?

It was a fun challenge, the orange is ts-31 and I couldn't find any brush on version to do little pieces so plan well ahead is my best advice. And there's plenty of reference material out there. I used this kit as a trial on revells decalsoft which works a treat.

KP, I have planned well ahead and I have masked off exactly to make sure the colours will not bleed into each other.

Already looking real enough to imagine that really strange sound of a rotary engine

KP. I always have a lot of fun detailing the engine compartments when I can get the kits that have them. 🙂 👍
There are all the hoses and pipes yet to do. 😉

Please excuse me for arriving late teacher?

Why will this be a last car model? Do you intend to paint the green areas?

Martin. !!! LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thanks mate, that really made me laugh. 🙂 🙂
I have a lot of work to do on this one, for sure. !
Just the planning and work on the mill has taken me a LONG time, but the main paint job will be the killer. 👍

I do like the 4 rotor engine too, and all that plumbing, when I finally get to it, will be a hoot. 🙂 👍

I am working out the best paint to use, having tried with the Humbrol fluoro orange, only to screw things up by not taking my time between layers, and all the dust particles in the air while we have strong westerly winds blowing. 🙁
The masking took hours. !
28 October 2019, 21:26
Björn Svedberg
You are off to a great start, Kerry! 👍 A must follow build. 🙂
29 October 2019, 05:43
Kerry COX
Björn, thank you my friend. 😉
I wish I could say I was happy with my progress, but I cant, having screwed up the beginnings of the painting, using a paint that was totally fighting me all the way. 🙁
I will get it right, eventually. 👍

KC, don't you ever try to tell me you don't have an eye for detail. This level of detailing in just plain mondboggeling! Showed this build to my son-in-law and he was stupefied! Can't wait to see it in the flesh tomorrow!

That was the winning car the year I went to LeMans, I remember it well, but I also remember it didn't sound anything like the incredible sound of the V8s it was competing against.

Lode. I do have a nice collection of 1/24 comp cars.
2 Ford GT40's
2 Sauber Merc C9's
2 Ferrari 250GT's
and soon, 2 Mazda 787B's. 🙂 👍

Hey guys, saw this thing in the flesh yesterday! Got a guided tour through the "Cox Collection" at Modelling Heaven. Respect for Yoda's skills has elevated even further if that was possible. Models everywhere! Open the broom cupboard and there is a small collection of works in progress. Open the garage door and there is a BMW bike taking pride of position, surrounded by model boxes, dusty old dioramas and air brushing equipment. The lounge room has four display cabinets full of works of art. Dining room has a small collection of kits I have never seen before. Another visitor? Yep, none other that Dave Dalton, Oz ship building champ! And, of course, taking centre stage, a real life Yoda! I love this man! Well, I do have Mammy and we are talking plutonic of course but I had a wonderful day with Kezza! From living in a remote mining town with no peers, here I am with Australian Modelling Royalty! None of this possible without Scalemates! Thanks Tim, you have made dreams come true!

Yes, there was a gathering of the three modellers yesterday. !
My house is as described, with modelles everywhere and occupying all available space. 😉
It was wonderful to gather with good friends and just talk plastic, techniques and passion for what keeps us in the brotherhood. 👍
Actually, I have five display cases in my living room with a sixth being added this week end. 🙂
Not to mention the HUGE display case, (A former candy shop resident) turned into my very first display case some 25 years ago.
Peter has commissioned me to build the Trumpeter 1/35 ASLAV-PC PHASE 3 for him, wanting a 'COX' built kit for his collection, and that was a great compliment if ever there was. 👍
Pictures will follow, all steps and stumbles faithfully recorded.

Hi Kezza, always great to spend quality time with model friends. Well done Peter 👍 I'm sure you liked the guided visit a lot😎
As for this kit, the attention to detail as always, is impressive. Continue the good work and I hope everything goes well with the paint job.

I always admire modelers that can paint this shiny and smooth surfaces. Thankfully I just have to paint mate 😄

I wouldn't say the 787 Blew everyone else off the Track, the other two 787s did not fare so well, but at least finished (with only 12 Cars Classified that year), behind the 3 Works Jaguars and a Sauber Mercedes, whose driver line up included an at that time unknown Michael Schumacher. Just 2 Months later, we would see him make his F1 debut with Jordan.

The sound of the Merc C11 was quite something, akin to an angry VW Beetle that's taking too many Steroids.
2 Laps separated each of the top 4 finishers.

This 787 however is looking awesome.

Martin. I am really pleased to finally have it off my work bench, as it did become a real pain in the patoot there for a while. 🙁
But I am happy with the final result. 👍

Kerry, with the new configuration of Scalemates, I've lost some modelling done by the matees, but not all of the mates. Reason why I didn't comment on this Mazda yet. It is looking fabulous and all the efforts, sometimes 4 times the efforts, pay off. A true asset to your already vast collection of beatiful models. Well done, Sir

This is another fantastic effort Kerry. The paintwork is just perfect, and the detailing, well what can I say... Hope you are well in these crazy times, and an opportunity will arise soon to take this baby to a show 👍

Alec and James. 🙂
Like me, I am sure that this hobby has saved our sanity in some way, with most of us all being couped up like a fearful ferret, scared of the grim reaper. 🙁
As concentrating on this build as much as I had was certainly of benefit when it came to my recovery for sure, but worth every second. 👍 🙂
Thank you all for your support and encouragement. It has certainly helped me persevere. 😉

One of Kerry's many masterpieces. We call him "Yoda" because he is a Jedi Master of modelling. Wonderful build Kez! When ever I need inspiration I can always go to your Albums!

Glad this build resurfaced so I could see it. One of my favorite racecars of all time and a kit I have in my stash but am waiting to build so I can make as far towards the top of the mediocre range that my small skill level will allow. This is just incredible work.

An inspiration indeed. With this aim to perfection (and succeeding) I was triggered to do as best I can with my builds, always with the kind en encouraging comments of Yoda himself. What a pleasure to go once mor through this album, Kerry

Album info

This car blew every one off the track and was never seen on the track again.
The livery is spectacular and why I have decided to tackle it as one of the last cars I will ever build.
It will be helped along with the Hobby Design PE kit, and I hope, a steady hand and keen eye.
