Just have to ask, Lucasz.... What? Having Amodel withdrawals, so need to complex it up a bit?

Łukasz Gliński
Well, the appearance of the Aerocraft sets made me curious. Let's see whether I'm gonna regret it 😄

matchbox. what's next, mistercraft? 🙂
13. March, 21:04
Łukasz Gliński
Well, the Caravelle is already on the shelf, but I still have a Hunter and Iskra waiting, just in case 😛

Interesting build, Lukasz, how is the clear resin part of Aerocraft ? Is it thick ?
14. March, 09:16
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks Erik. It's thick indeed, but quite clear though - see pic #3.

Licasz ,,,, have you landed in Barra .?... Good work
14. March, 11:24
Łukasz Gliński
Thanks. The answer is no, however still hoping to do it one day, hence the project name 🙂

Me too ,,,, even though I've been to a lot of islands in Scotland , I've never been in barra ,,,,, but when I'll do it'll be by plane

I'm curious! Following! 🙂

Łukasz factory's engines never stop... Following!

Welcome, still hoping this dream will not become a nightmare, even though it's close. I spent last couple of days on sanding and filling.
Next time I'm gonna use only the transparent part from Aerocraft, the rest is simply not worth it. They should release a windshield set only IMHO.

Zsolt Czegle
Łukasz you are masochistic! Do you hate yourself? You couldn't even put together a simple Tamiya set anymore! 😄 😄 😄

Łukasz Gliński
Gracias. Köszi. Perhaps not Tamiya, but I'm still able to build the new Airfixes, however having issues finishing them 😄
20. March, 20:53
Erik De Smet
Looking at your comment on the Aerocraft set, I wonder why you should use it ?
27. March, 16:38
Łukasz Gliński
Well, I ask myself the very same question. So far the most useful part is the windshield - the kit's one being way to narrow. I'm going to check out the engines soon, stay tuned 🙂
27. March, 16:42
Stefan Schacht
curious 🙂

Łukasz Gliński
Welcome. I tested another Aerocraft set today just to conclude that I'm unable to find a difference (except for the material used).

The omtales do look a little more rounded on the resin replacements. Might be the Black paint hiding it on the originals, though.
Interesting method of molding the props. I hope the attachment point/Line come off nice and clean.
Had been looking at the gear legs too, but after watching your work, will put off getting any.
28. March, 14:44
Łukasz Gliński
Well, the legs needed a lot of primer to look smooth enough. The inlets, props and spinners are too similar for me to take care 😄 So I will either sell them or use them for another kit in the future.
31. March, 14:59
Dave Flitton
Looking forward to the finished product
31. March, 17:59
Łukasz Gliński
Welcome Dave. It's gonna take a while still. Currently I'm adding the missing details.
Perhaps this is something the Aerocraft should consider? 😛

Łukasz Gliński
Still hesitating - to rivet or not to rivet...
17. April, 11:46
Cuajete
Łukasz, I know you like the pain of hard plastics, but also good taste. Rivet? 😛
19. April, 19:08
Łukasz Gliński
Yeah, I bought a basic Revell riveter some time ago and haven't used it yet. On the other hand the rivets are barely visible on the real thing, so I should focus more on masking probably 😉
19. April, 19:22
Erik De Smet
With a riveter you will make holes in the plastic, while on the real thing on YouTube the rivets are popping out.
19. April, 19:28
Łukasz Gliński
I know 😄 The thing is, the dirty rivets look almost the same as holes 😉
Loganair on the other hand washed the Barra planes after every flight to remove salt, so I decided to skip the imitation of dirty riveting, thanks for your say folks 👍
19. April, 19:52
Cuajete
Łukasz has answered his own question 😉
19. April, 19:55
Łukasz Gliński
Solely thanks to your replies 😛

So, I added all the missing bits and pieces (some inlets, outlets and aerials). Taking break for 2 weeks and then it will be time for painting. I'm leaning towards less orthodox approach - first the dark colours (less masking) and then white overall. Still haven't decided whether to assemble the wings before or afterwards.
21. April, 20:05
Cuajete
But you like to put the windows at the end of building, Łukasz 😛
Looking good so far 👍
22. April, 18:06
Łukasz Gliński
Got the masks, if you insist Señor 😄
22. April, 18:53

I'm Bach, only to find the wing struts are too short...

Hey mate, another one of the good old matchbox ones. A lot of work to do or making big compromises. That's the deal with them but it looks very promising so far. I'm curious! 👍

Łukasz Gliński
So true 👍 Welcome 🙂

A model really not easy to assemble there are a lot of things to correct normal it's Matchbox,
However, so far you have corrected a lot of things it's great good work ? ?
Good continuation ?

Tanks a lot. Matchbox is Matchbox, no doubt about it. Hopefully not so much will be visible in white 😉

Yeap, it would be nice to see this on the newsfeed again (no pressure!)... From Maldives to the Outer Hebrides... the places the Beavers / Otters / Twin Otters go! 😄 BTW - it's been some time I wanted to comment on the "Dreaming of Barra..." title of the project, because - well, yes, isn't that in a way one of the fine things in modelling - taking us to faraway places?! Keep up the great work! 👍
10. July, 21:16
Łukasz Gliński
It is indeed Alex - currently I'm torn between Kaapstad (Canberra), Miramar (Tomcat) and Barra 😄
Short update - I finished the main spraying today.
