Cockpit is finished! With a bit of Eduard photo etch.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/7/9/5/634795-34174-32-720.jpg)
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/9/6/634796-34174-94-720.jpg)
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/7/9/7/634797-34174-46-720.jpg)
The sight has been sanded and polished to get rid of the seam line in the middle of the glass piece. Instrument panel is Eduard photo etch.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/7/9/8/634798-34174-12-720.jpg)
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/7/9/9/634799-34174-45-720.jpg)
I added some cabling (Al and Cu) in the back for the instrument clustter.

![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/0/7/1/644071-34174-66-720.jpg)
Engine and Propeller finished with a bit of Eduard photo etch. I'm using Tamiya colors for everything except for the metal, which is my favorite SM01 Supermetallic from Mr.Color.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/0/7/3/644073-34174-20-720.jpg)

![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/0/6/650606-34174-12-720.jpg)
I added a bit more detail painting to the engine.

![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/0/8/650608-34174-54-720.jpg)
Everything ready for marrying the fuselage halfs together.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/6/0/9/650609-34174-25-720.jpg)
A bit more Eduard detail to the protective glass.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/6/1/0/650610-34174-23-720.jpg)
Result after paint.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/6/1/1/650611-34174-69-720.jpg)
Scribing some extra detail and doing some riveting.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/6/1/2/650612-34174-76-720.jpg)
All the small parts ready and painted. I temporarily PVA glued the flaps in place for the painting stage. They wil be extended on the finished model.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/6/1/3/650613-34174-38-720.jpg)
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/6/1/4/650614-34174-17-720.jpg)
The engineering and fit is fantastic in this kit. This is the only place where I added some putty, and it was only precautionary.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/6/1/5/650615-34174-90-720.jpg)
A mockup of the model at its current state. I plan on having the engine cowl on a friction fit along with the propeller, so it can be removed to look at the engine.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/6/1/6/650616-34174-31-720.jpg)
Propeller and engine cowl removed.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/6/1/7/650617-34174-59-720.jpg)
Also the engine is a friction fit.
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/1/5/1/651151-34174-86-720.jpg)
Black basing. I pre-shade by spraying white over a black base color.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/1/5/2/651152-34174-57-720.jpg)
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/1/5/3/651153-34174-61-720.jpg)
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/2/7/5/651275-34174-36-720.jpg)
Underside painted.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/2/7/6/651276-34174-66-720.jpg)
Topside painted.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/2/7/7/651277-34174-25-720.jpg)
Next is masking and painting the engine cowl and the rudder red.
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/4/7/9/652479-34174-33-720.jpg)
Started the masking and painting of the engine cowl.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/4/8/0/652480-34174-58-720.jpg)
I'm using a yellow base for the red parts.
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/4/8/1/652481-34174-87-720.jpg)
Some small corrections need to be made on the white lining where the red paint has leaked through the masking.
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/4/8/2/652482-34174-35-720.jpg)
After fixing the white lining with brush painting and a layer of clear before decals.
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/4/8/3/652483-34174-92-720.jpg)
Unfortunately, the white line can be seen through the base white decal for the indian head . I will have to fix that. More masking and painting needed..;)
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/5/1/5/652515-34174-19-720.jpg)
I masked and painted another white layer and re-sprayed with clear and finally the decal is on. 🙂 Next will be masking the tail-plane and spray the rudder red.
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/8/2/4/653824-34174-51-720.jpg)
Same process for painting the rudder. White, then yellow and finishing with the red.
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/8/2/5/653825-34174-91-720.jpg)
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/8/2/6/653826-34174-77-720.jpg)
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/8/2/7/653827-34174-59-720.jpg)
All the decals are on. There were quite alot of stencils in this kit which is always very tedious to apply, but also very satisfying when the job is done. 🙂
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/1/2/5/657125-34174-61-720.jpg)
The current state. Next is weathering.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/1/2/3/657123-34174-38-720.jpg)
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/1/2/4/657124-34174-10-720.jpg)
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/1/2/6/657126-34174-94-720.jpg)
As always, the mirror is a piece of aluminium foil. Here you can see the carrier film of the decals. I really should have cut away some of it befor application. Or better still, masked and painted the markings.
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/1/2/7/657127-34174-48-720.jpg)
I painted all the loadout, but I'm going for the ground attack version. It is all press fitted so it can be removed/changed.
![Album image #52 Album image #52](/albums/img/5/0/2/657502-34174-12-720.jpg)
It is finished!

Both windshield and the canopy are press fitted in, so they can be removed. The benefit of this is to be able to show the plane with an open canopy. Great work by Tamiya on the fit to enable this!

A bit of EZ-line used for the antenna wire.
![Album image #87 Album image #87](/albums/img/0/4/7/660047-34174-99-720.jpg)
The ICM figures are assembled. Really nice detail in this kit! 🙂
![Album image #88 Album image #88](/albums/img/0/4/8/660048-34174-56-720.jpg)
A bit of base paint before the figure painting starts.
![Album image #89 Album image #89](/albums/img/2/1/7/676217-34174-55-720.jpg)
First step is always the skin color and washes.
![Album image #90 Album image #90](/albums/img/2/1/8/676218-34174-71-720.jpg)
Simsalabim 😉. All the base, and detail painting done. Next the washes and dry brushing.
![Album image #91 Album image #91](/albums/img/2/1/9/676219-34174-96-720.jpg)

Guess it's time for another Razorback build.😉
I'm going for the paint scheme on the box and adding a figure set from ICM also.

Well. that is looking good 🙂 Interior is superb- I will follow this one!

That's a truckload of detail in 48-scale. Admirable clean quality & finish, the leather-effect on the belts is gorgeous... The cables behind the instruments make me curious what the plan on this project really is 🙂 Dream start, following with pleasure 👍
23 July 2019, 21:11
![](/profiles/img/25429-812-s.png)
Well Slavo, the P-47 doesn't have a coaming over the instrument panel. From that triangular windscreen you can look into the area behind the instrument panel and that's where you would see those cables running out of all the instruments. 🙂

![](/profiles/img/17224-211-s.jpg)
Looking good! Those figures are great, I've used them before. Maybe a simple Dio on the horizon?
24 July 2019, 00:21
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you Roland, Slavo and Tim! 🙂
@Slavo, the wiring is only for show as Patrick explains, no further extravagances planned at the moment😉.
@Tim, thanks for the encouragement, but dio's are are not planned for the near future. I have too many planes that I want to build before delving into that. 🙂 The ICM figures look great, though.

I'm taking it slow with this build, it is such a joy to work with this excellent kit. 🙂 Engine and propeller are finished and I'm currently working on the Eduard details for the wheel wells.

Great progress on my favourite version of the Jug. I'll follow this one closely...

Thanks Urban! 🙂 This is probably my favourite Tamiya kit, so far. Lovely details and great fit!

I haven't built one yet but am a owner of a few of these. Test fitted one and was very pleased. Keep up the great work. JB

Thanks Stephan! 🙂

![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Another update. I've done alot of work since the last update. Next step is preparing for painting.
7 September 2019, 17:14
![](/profiles/img/48665-446-s.jpg)
There is indeed a lot of detail on & around to engine so the option to make it properly visible is the right approach. Good progress on all fronts, looking forward to the paint job!
8 September 2019, 06:44
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you James, Patrick, Slavo and Sören! 🙂
I started the painting process during the weekend by doing some black basing for the pre-shade of the main body color.
9 September 2019, 05:38
![](/profiles/img/48665-446-s.jpg)
That´s a load of individually pre-shaded panels! Should pay-off with dividends in the finish! 👍

By the looks of it, it turned into a spiritual thing.... Perfect meditation exercise. 😉

![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thanks Mates! Your words warm my scale model heart!😉
A new update. I've just finished the base painting of the camo. Next will be masking and painting the red parts. Have to get the paint matched to the decals.. 😛
9 September 2019, 17:23
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
You are welcome Ben! 🙂
Another small update. I've started masking and painting the engine cowl.
12 September 2019, 05:24
![](/profiles/img/48665-446-s.jpg)
Oh, that white line under the decal is a bit of a pain for sure - but really should be fixable... How will you get the yellow lashes behind the white though, is there another decal?
Good luck with the next steps, all looking great so far!
12 September 2019, 11:21
![](/profiles/img/25355-978-s.jpg)
Any room left to watch this old warbird come together, she is looking great so far.👍
12 September 2019, 11:34
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you Norbert, Jean Pierre, Slavo and Michael! 🙂
After some masking and another layer of white paint and clear, the decal is finally in place and I can start the masking of the rudder.

Nice projects so far. To bad about the decal, but an extra layer of white can help
12 September 2019, 15:45
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you mates! 🙂
Another update. The tail plane has been painted and all the decals applied along with another layer of gloss coat before weathering. I'm currently working on the armament and I'm going for the ground attack version with the big extra tank, bombs and rockets.
17 September 2019, 05:23
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thanks, Stephan, Nathan and Slavo! 🙂
I made a mockup of the plane in its current state. Next step will be weathering.
In hind sight I really should have masked and painted the markings. The carrier film of the decals is clearly visible in many places..
28 September 2019, 07:51
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
The "Jug" is finished! 🙂 It's time to start with the little figures from ICM.
29 September 2019, 14:17
![](/profiles/img/46636-566-s.jpg)
Tremendous! 👍 Bravo! I love the shading and of course all of the spectacular detail. Well done.

![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you Jim, Slavo and Roland! It is highly appreciated. 🙂
In my haste to finish, I had forgotten about the antenna wire. Last picture added.😉

Thank you mates for all of your kind comments! 👍 It is great motivation for me! 🙂
30 September 2019, 07:11
![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Thank you Urban! 🙂
I've started working on the ICM figures. Only assembly and a bit of base paint yet, but you can see all the fine details of the figures in this kit.
