John Ballman Thank you for your comments. I do have a few more in the works, I just haven't uploaded enough pictures yet. I have about 6 more Spitfires, different scales, in different stages. This hobby drives me silly sometimes. Hopefully, I can get some over the finish line.

John Ballman I was inspired to build this after reading the book "Operation Drumbeat". I am a former US Navy Submariner, retired 20 years ago. Reading about Reinhard Hardegen and his life is just amazing. He just passed away about a year ago, at the age of 105. Look him up on the Web.
I enjoyed the kit, went together very well, fit was very good, just a little filler here and there, nothing major. I did't like the thickness of some of the parts. The periscopes main lengths were replaced with styrene rod, I kept the tops because they were tapered. The propellers had to be carefully sanded down to scale thickness.

John Ballman The kit is fine out of the box. The Cutting Edge sets take the kit to higher level of accuracy, but not necessary. Even the ancient Hawk/Testors kit is good, it has recessed panel lines, posable stablilators, no cockpit or wheel well detail is the only downcheck for the kit.

John Ballman The Cutting Edge set is pretty straight forward. Wolfpack also has a conversion as well.
So far the directions have you sand away all the areas indicated by the black marker. The directions to my recollection don't mention the trailing edges of the wings. They are quite thick and need to be thinned a bit to look better. As far as the top and bottoms of the wing you just have to be careful on how much you grind off. Leave a little on the top so you can wet sand it to the proper level so you don't make indentations. I think that stirke camera faring on the Starboard wing (refering to top right wing in picture) has to go. I'll try to get some pics of the fuselage to show that as well.

John Ballman Thanks for your comments, built this a while ago. It was my first 1/35 AFV kit that I built and before I had a decent camera. I had an Osprey book on the Hetzer that I utilized for hints and tips. I have plans on building the DML kit after I get some other projects out of the way.
