What a beautiful picture-story it is! Thanks Alex for sharing the details and secrets of your workbench 😉 Very instructive and inspiring. Watching with pleasure!

Hello Robert! Thanks for you encouraging words. This is a project I completed this past summer but did not get around to documenting until recently. I will add another batch of pics to the WIP once done.

Wow, I just finished my airfix gladiator. This is more scratch than model building!

Oh my god, what a project! 👍 I'm in, absolutely in!
I'm very impressed with your special tooling for a clean and accurate build.

Thanks for the positive comments gents, and welcome to my sh*t show. This was in a way a tough build, starting with a recent discovery that I screwed up the paint scheme. Oh well... More pics from the paint sessions uploaded. Cheers!

So, where to start Alec? A wonderful build so far and great to see your process. I don't think I will get to this level of detail, but models like yourself inspire me to do better and have a go at making those extra little bits. Really looking forward to seeing the end result, going to be a stunner I think.

Fantastic build, Alec! You have reached museum-level detail. I think it is a very interesting object 👍

Final build pics added to the album. Gallery album is here: Gloster Sea Gladiator, Malta, Gallery | Album by Pardubak (1:72). Happy modeling!

Hi Alec, I just stepped into this amazing project. Excellent scratch built, paintwork etc. I really love it. Thx for sharing it with all the detailed information.
Happy Modelling, Christian

And yes, I will do it again! You showed a great build, nice tricks and great fixes fro problems - pure fun to watch!
Also very cool that you own a lathe now 👍 Only one remark: on page 81 you showed a domain, but this was totally different stuff. it must be pdc.ca instead of .com

Nice job, can't believe it is only 1:72. Perfect and nice engine and other details.
12 December 2021, 21:10

Friends, thanks very much for your comments. Frank, error corrected, thanks for letting me know (yes, it's pdc.ca). Cheers!

Fabulous build. There were three, almost legendary Maltese Gladiators, known as Faith, Hope and Charity, is this one of that trio?
13 December 2021, 19:57

He doesn't even want to believe that this is a 1/72 scale model. SUPER!!!
13 December 2021, 20:16

Thank you all for kind comments and for reading my dry build musings. It does wonders with my modeling mojo 👍 🙂
Alan - yes, the subject of my project is one of the Gladiators later popularly known as "Faith, Hope and Charity". My understanding it that the "Faith, Hope and Charity" labels did not correspond to specific machines (there were actually four operational Gladiators in those early Malta defense days, not three). The N5519 is one of those initial four. Cheers!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this build log of your amazing build! Top job!! 👍 👍

Absolutely gobsmacked! Surely that can't be possible – I'm pleased with myself if I drill a hole in the end of a gun barrel. 😄
Bughunter = master of 1/48 WWI aircraft.
Zsolt = master of 1/72 vehicles.
Alec = master of 1/72 aircraft. And well deserved.

Gorby, you damn flatterer you! I shall only add: gorby = master of scratched monstrosities. 😄 😄 😄 (I know you like THAT emoji... 😉 )

Alec, not only that! gorby is also the master of wonderful comments on Scalemates! His writings make me smile very often 👍

I'm going to repeat what many have written here, but I can't help it. 😉
Fantastic build from start to finish. For me also because it is a 1/72 scale model. 👍 👍 👍
I bow deeply.
