Looking really fantastic already

István Szücs
Great start! I think, I'll build this Impala, so I'm watching!

Bill Newcomer
Nice start. My Dad had a '66 when I was a kid. My brother had a '65 Super Sport when we were in high school. Following.

Peter Muldoon
Thanks guys! It's a fun build István, this one is coming together fairly quickly. Looking forward to doing the body. I'll try to do your dad and brother proud with this one Bill.

Martin Oostrom
What colour will she be?
19 July 2022, 14:46
Dominik Weitzer

Uh oh Marcin! And that is why it pays to research these things... 😬 🙈

She will be SMS Purple Grape Martin. 🍇🍇🍇

I'm on that 🙂

Uneven blade spacing on the fan makes them much quieter. Makes a big difference. If you look closely at modern electric fans they're often uneven as well.
25 July 2022, 14:00
Peter Muldoon
Yeah really wishing I had this knowledge prior to changing the fan. Seems to be detracting from the rest of the build.
25 July 2022, 23:51
Rod -
You'll never see it again once it's finished 👍

That "thing" is one, we all live with. A lot of changes aren't visible anymore.

Martin Oostrom
Live and learn Young Peter!

Peter Muldoon
Onwards and upwards!

Lex Jassies
Great looking car. I think your'e making the best out of this kit. Question: what is the firing order of a Chevy V8?
26 July 2022, 07:38
Peter Muldoon
Different to this one, but I'd already messed up the fan so I wasn't too fussed about the firing order.
26 July 2022, 08:05
István Szücs
Cool! What kind of tube did you use for the ignition?
26 July 2022, 08:34
Peter Muldoon
T2M 0.35mm red detail wire 🙂
26 July 2022, 08:41
István Szücs
@Peter Muldoon. I saw, what wire did you use. You wrote, "Sanded back the existing distributor connectors and replaced them with rubber tubing"- that rubber tubing was the question 😉
26 July 2022, 09:20
Christian W
@Lex Jassies .... You can't tell that generally. It depends on the year of built and the engine size. I think, you are able to look it up on the internet "firing order v8 chevrolet". It should not be that problem at all!

Here you are (rolling my eyes a little. It costs me seconds on google - included wiring diagrams!)
Chevy Small Block V8 engines (265,283, 302, 327, 350, 400) is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
Chevy Big Block V8 engines (396, 406, 427, 454) is the same as the small blocks: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
Chevy LS engines (LS1 to LS7) is different than SB or BB V8 engines. It is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3.
Chevy marine engine with REVERSE rotation is 1-2-7-5-6-3-4-8.

Lex Jassies
Christian W: It didn't take me more than a few seconds either. I actually asked the question more because I noticed that Peter did it in his own way.
But he has already indicated that he is satisfied with this. So it's fine 👍

Peter Muldoon
I did research the firing order but for some reason it slipped my mind while doing the model. I'm happy with the outcome. As I say, I already messed up the fan, so what's a messed up firing order too lol. I think I will leave the bonnet/hood closed on this one.
26 July 2022, 12:12
Peter Muldoon
István, that tubing is leftover from a Tamiya bike kit. Not actually sure what gauge it is. I should measure it because I would love to buy some more.
26 July 2022, 12:14
Martin Oostrom
Let's call the firing order a custom Foose's Folly Firing!
26 July 2022, 12:26
Christian W
It's always challenging, to get the right order in scale. Sometimes, it drives me nuts.

Everything is fine.

Look Peter you can learn a lot from these guys but do remember this is your build
And whed time you will get better
Don't worry about if your not completely happy whed this build
I get a few kits the same if thay are cheap
And build one look at it if im not happy then it goes on the shelf
It has nothing to do whed what othets think
Its all a matter of what I think
Build your build your way
If you like it
Its good
The next one will be better
In my case I'm my biggest criticism
Please build what you like don't let anyone take that away from you
And enjoy what you do
some of my mates here
Build out there builds it takes time and courage
But that's were you learn
But we all start somewhere
Most important is you are happy enjoy what you do
Skills only come from doing
Only people that don't try nevern make mistakes
A mistake is only when your not happy whed it

26 July 2022, 12:45
Martin Oostrom
I completely agree with Jv 👍
26 July 2022, 13:33
Jv
Thanks Martin
There is many skills here I enjoy all my mates here on scalemates
Its been a great forum for me
Whed many ideas
And inspirations
Let's keep it that way
Some of my favourite builds here are the ones I may not agree whed at first
But has tough me alot
I don't have to take it all on board
But its sencretly been an inspiration
I love it Here
For the positive inspiration I got so fare
Thanks to all here
And let's keep.it that way

István Szücs
@Peter Muldoon, thank you for the answer!
26 July 2022, 16:06
Peter Muldoon
Thanks Jv, I do build for myself, but as soon as you put anything into a public forum you are faced with criticism. Just have to take it on board and learn from it. But at the end of the day it is my build so I can do whatever I like with it. 😉
26 July 2022, 22:21
Jv
Yep but you can also learn much here
27 July 2022, 01:08
Lex Jassies
Peter, I'm glad you understood my message to you.
It certainly wasn't meant as a criticism, but I was wondering if you were aware of it. You immediately gave me a clear answer and I wanted to leave it at that. If you're happy then who am I to moan about it.

I also make mistakes and have no problem if one of the scalemates pointing this out to me (see my album of the Pak75).
After 62 years of model building I'm still learning.
Apart from that; I've looked at your albums and I think you make very nice models 👍. As a long term biker I really love your Yamaha Virago/Bobber build 🙂
27 July 2022, 08:08
Martin Oostrom
I also agree with Lex. I'm very agreeable at the moment 😄
27 July 2022, 08:35
Peter Muldoon
Thanks Lex, the Virago was a fun build. Always learning and loving the hobby. I'll always be my own worst critic. If I didn't enjoy the feedback I wouldn't post here. 🤓

Bob Hall
Sweet shade of purple !
7 November 2022, 00:57
Peter Muldoon
Thanks Bob! It's quite interesting, it changes colour depending on the light. It's much brighter when the sun hits it. I was considering a coat of clear purple over it, but now I'm undecided as the colour keeps growing on me.
7 November 2022, 02:43
Kyle DeHart
Great color for sure.
7 November 2022, 02:43
