Very nice. It would have been nice if a mainstream manufacturer made one in scale 1/12.

It looks really great! Very good paintjob. Well done.
Please, do me a favour: change the license plate to one for an automobile. The sidecode "F" on the plate indicates motorcycles. This is a common mistake, Revell does on it's decas for all Ferrari e.g.

Thanks Christian. You know, I randomly made up that license plate and didn't even think of that, and I'm Dutch, like you I suppose. Must be because I've never owned anything 2-wheeled with a motor on it. Anyway, I can live with it so I guess you'll have to as well, but it's noted for my next builds!

Cheers! I'm German 😉 I did a little research as I noticed on the many hours I spent on the highway, that all trucks starting with a B, the trailers with O or W. That made me curious. From this day on, I check the fantasy plates on Revells sheets.. Doesn't matter, from which country: often the plates are not that bad but. Some are to old tor the cars year of build but on the Netherland plates and for Ferrari they print the F on it. So I saw it directly on your beautiful Beetle.
I noticed too, that you can "read" out of the plate, in which timeperiod the car was brang on the road. Quite interessting.

Nevertheless: your paintjob is awesome. I like it a lot. Well done, well done!

The Revell fantasy plates are a bit silly sometimes. I've started printing my own plates, I make paint stencils with my Silhouette cutter. Actually the Beetle's plate was one of the first I did. The "F" escaped me! Indeed there's quite the system in place regarding license plates. If you're interested you can find all information here: rdw.nl/particulier/v..-op-de-kentekenplaat

By the way Christian, it seems that at least for this series of licence plates (xx-xx-99) it's allowed to have an "F" at the beginning. I'm looking at an actual license plate right now. I don't know when the F was dropped as a first letter, but it used to be valid.

Album info

I set out to make a nice and shiny vehicle, something I don't normally do! This is a really nice little kit with plenty of room for detailing (which I didn't do) There's a full engine and hinges for both bonnets, but I glued everything shut as I wanted to focus on the paint. Nicely moulded, excellent fit, just really good. So the build was a fun one and I learned a few things along the way. Such as: man, it's hard to photograph such a shiny little thing, I took a lot of care to get the dust off but turn your back for a second and it's back. Specks you don't see with the naked eye are there when you open a picture on the laptop.... So please excuse the specks I couldn't seem to get off. The paint is Tamiya Gloss Black, X22 clearcoat and polished with Tamiya compounds. Chrome is all Greenstuffworld, either sprayed or brushed. The door strip is BMF, a first for me. I struggled a bit as it's a very small strip!
