I have alot to learn, so any kind of feedback is highly appreciated 🙂

Rex
"I have a lot to learn",,,,,,,,from the looks of your cockpit, it looks like you have a pretty good handle on our small scale so far.
30 April 2015, 06:14
Camilla Øksenholt
Thanks Rex! 🙂

Kerry COX
Yeah, your detailing is something we will all want to know how you did it so well. for sure 🙂
1 May 2015, 00:17
Kelly Wellington
Yeah...I'm impressed. But I'm a novice with much to learn. I work only in 1:72 and my detailing really sucks at this poing. I've only tried seat belts once. I've come to the jaundiced view that much interior work is a waste of time (and I just finished Trumpeter's Wellington GR Mk.XIV) as most of that work will not be seen. And yet, I'm frustrated with how big and clumsy my sausage fingers are dealing with all the tiny pieces.
1 May 2015, 03:47
Kerry COX
Kelly, That is the beauty of doing all the detail that "Will never be seen", as YOU know what is in there and you will no doubt be so excited when telling someone exactly what IS "In there", and then THEY will want to do the same.
My fingers are almost 70 years old and I have the same problem with having to deal with the finest and smallest photo etched stuff I have ever seen, but we manage to get a good result every time, as practice makes perfect.

Now I gotta' look at your post of this Trumpeter's Wellington GR Mk.XIV here, now you have talked about it and see your skills 🙂
1 May 2015, 04:03
Camilla Øksenholt
Wow, thanks alot you guys! 😄 This is my first time ever trying photo etch, do hopefully I'll get it better next time. I think I too must check out your Wellington Kelly! 🙂

Mike Kryza
Really a good start here... 👍

Camilla Øksenholt
Thanks Mike, it's been a really fun build so far!

Just finished sanding it down (added some pictures), rescribing tomorrow and not too excited about that 😛
4 May 2015, 00:19
Kerry COX
What "Trouble" with the clear bits did you have ?
4 May 2015, 00:40
Camilla Øksenholt
Only hadde trouble so far with the windows that i've glued on. I didn't dry fit them, and the pins on one of the windows should have been sanded down a bit, then I probably would have avoided the gap. Thankfully nothing a bit of tamiya putty can't fix 🙂
4 May 2015, 01:00
Kerry COX
Better than I was imagining Camilla, well done. 🙂
4 May 2015, 02:41
Camilla Øksenholt
Thanks Kerry, except the little issue with the windows, which was my fault... This one has been a delight to build, and no putty at all needed, I just added a bit to the seam line to avoid any tiny gaps. 🙂
4 May 2015, 15:12
Camilla Øksenholt
A little update. Done rescribing, and only screwed up a little bit 😛 I really suck at rescribing... Although it should be a fairley easy job on this aircraft... Got the wings on perfectly, and the remaining windows. Now it's ready for airbrushing!
4 May 2015, 18:23
Kerry COX
Bring it on Camilla, and, BTW, what is the airbrush you use please. ?
4 May 2015, 23:28
John Young
Excellent job! I like the weathered rails.
4 May 2015, 23:30
Camilla Øksenholt
I use the Harder and Steenbeck Infinity two in one 🙂 we've had some trouble with out compressor though, but hopefully I'll get it done today!

Thanks a lot John! 🙂 I think I'm gonna try to weather the outsider quite a bit aswell. With the bright orange and pink it could otherwise look a bit more like a toy. But we'll see.
5 May 2015, 08:38
Kerry COX
Camilla, I have just found this link to a whole lot of colour ww2 images of the US aircraft. scroll through them and you may find some good reference images. 🙂
5 May 2015, 08:51
Camilla Øksenholt
Thanks! References are always appreciated 😄 My plan is to build the first scheme that's presented in the kits instructions. That s orange with a pink tail 🙂
5 May 2015, 15:00
Camilla Øksenholt
Lots of great photos, thanks again!

Camilla Øksenholt
Small update, tried to make some bullet holes, usin a pin-vise and an excel knife (I made some adjustments to them, that I forgot to photograph). Applied an undercoat of Tamiya Flat Aluminium and what you see next is my first attempt to pre-shade... Hopefully I'll do better next time 🙂
6 May 2015, 19:27
Kerry COX
I love your efforts and enthusiasm Camilla, and if the bullet holes don't work out, you can always fill them in and sand it back to original.

The famous Shepp Payne has some really good information on how to replicate battle scars mate, and here is a link for you on him.

google.com.au/url?sa..6pyz3Jy86AOMGVo6eMIQ

But looking really good to date. 🙂
6 May 2015, 21:26
Camilla Øksenholt
Thank you for the kind words and for the link Kerry! 🙂

I' tried to make the one side look more like entry holes, and the other side as exit holes, but forgot to take a picture 😛 I will update more tomorrow hopefully!
6 May 2015, 21:35
Es-haq Khosravi
Great job Camilla!

Camilla, How is it progressing with this paint job. ?
Or are you getting over summers burns. LOL. ?
7 July 2015, 23:26
Camilla Øksenholt
Thanks Es-haq! 🙂

Well, gonna fill the holes up, then start on the painting, so not too far from finished with this one 😉 haha, it's been raining for the last two days here... Yay, summerweather! 😛
7 July 2015, 23:53

O&P ?? Mmmmm A woman's fighting machine no doubt. It must be the mozzie bites. LOL 🙂 👍
12 July 2015, 21:24
Camilla Øksenholt
Yes, a real feminine hellcat! It may be the bites I'm suffering from... 😛 You can see the scheme on the photo that shows on the project!
12 July 2015, 21:55
Kerry COX
Camilla, Thanks for the heads up on the colour scheme. I should have been looking harder and taking more notice of what you posted here, but I have an excuse.
I was blinded by all your dazzling work on the cockpit area. 🙂 👍
It will look most spectacular my friend. 🙂
12 July 2015, 22:01
Camilla Øksenholt
Ah, Kerry, you make me blush! Thanks, it means alot to me! 🙂

And it's not your fault, I just added that picture today... 😛

13 July 2015, 00:56

Instrument panel and cockpit of this Hellcat are really at the edge of master class: wonderful work for 1/72 scale;
please tell us the way do you use to achieve this result...I'm eager to see this F6F in full livery. Best regards from Osaka.
22 August 2015, 08:44
Choppa Nutta
Those hands don't look hairy enough to produce work this good ! haha 😄
Looking like good progress so far 🙂
Cockpit looks good expecially considering the small scale !
and I am liking the way you are tackling the bullet holes, not seen it done like that before 🙂
22 August 2015, 10:48

Matthias Weiss
Very nice, Camilla.
22 August 2015, 15:11
Camilla Øksenholt
Wow, I'm astounded by all of your comments! And such compliments... Thank you all so much, I really appreciate every word! 😄

Luciano: The only thing I did that differs from the instructions is that I painted a few more buttons and switches, and dry-brushed it lightly with Tamiya chrome silver. 🙂

Choppa: Haha!! 😛 Well, I actually decided to fill the holes and sand it down to it's original state, trying to make a clean nice build before I start on something way outta my league, haha!
22 August 2015, 18:56
Camilla Øksenholt
I'm currently waiting for the first layer of pink paint to dry, so hopefully you'll get to see some progress here soon! 🙂
22 August 2015, 18:57
