What do you think of the Modelsvit kit, Roland? I have never seen one of their kits in person. Is it just me, or does the instrument panel look a little low? I think the poor pilot would be scrapping his shins on the bottom of the panel....

Thank you mates for your words!
Gordon, Modelsvit offers well equipped and, as I think, very well researched kits- preferable of not so often seen aircraft! For example I own their X-P55 Ascender, which is a gem of a kit.

Modelsvit obviously enjoys overflowing details and delivers kit parts of high quality, sharply detailed shapes and very good fitting accuracy. Not unimportant: besides an etched circuit board the kits I know are always accompanied by a sheet of masking masks for the clear parts. These look quite thin, but should be very useful.
So far I am very impressed by Modelsvit. To illustrate my words, I enclose pictures that show how much time the kit takes to build up the aby of the rear wheel alone. In addition there is the rear wheel itself, which itself consists of six parts!

Indeed, Sören, the pilot is an unlucky guy! I could not resist to use the etched dashboard of an P-51D to get details in the cockpit and I fear you are absolutely right-it goes too far down. Thank you for the hint!

The parts fall together in a very kind way, there is only one issue: the transparent parts does not fit all to well and have to be filled and sanded. You see this work under way.

The last pictures show the development over several working steps: the application of Alcald metal tones was the most elaborate, but also most fun phase. Now all stencils are applied, next the surfaces are completed with the remaining decals!

So kann man sagen! -und ich brauche eine immer höhere Dosis.... kann mir hier irgendwer eine Twin-Mustang beschaffen? 😉

Finished at last! Now that was a pleasureful and enjoyable build! Many thanks to Modelsvit for the opportunity to build such a rare, if not never seen before variant of the Mustang! Do I have to say that I recommend this kit in every respect?
Thank you for all your comments and your interest!

What kind of metallic paints are these? 🙂 And how did you airbrush them onto the model? Just curious.

Thank you both! I used metal paint from Alclad. The surfaces have been primed with Gunze acrylic gloss black, on this came Alclad "White Aluminum". Several shades of various Alclad-metal shades did follow. Everything has been sealed by Gunze clear gloss, after applying the decal another layer of clear gloss protects the decals. For the finish I applied matt paint to lessen the all too excessive glossiness.

Sehr gut gebaut und "gealtert" - nicht Zuviel, nicht zu wenig. Gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut!
