1:72 REVELL SOPWITH CAMEL - "SNOOPY EDITION"

This is the 1978 issue of the kit that was released in 1963.  

Basic kit, easy to build with a few inaccurate bits but Snoopy doesn't care! 

Needed a touch of filler, but not bad. 

The wing struts in place.  

A coat of Alclad 2 white primer will show the defects. Not many this time. 

Some parts are best if painted when still on the sprue. 

First some Tamiya Lemon Yellow, then an overspray with Gunze Aqueous Cream Yellow. 

The kit decals were not in good shape so I raided the decal stash. 

The twin Vickers guns were missing from the kit. I scratchbuilt a pair with some bits of rod and leftovers from a 1:48th Harvard. 

Painted the guns with Tamiya NATO Black, then dry brushed with silver. 

I use .006" EZ Line for the rigging on these small scale aircraft. 

After unsuccessfully searching for a Snoopy to fit the cockpit, I decided that I could modify the kit pilot! 

I made the base from a solid piece of oak wood, the edge is finished with a router. 2 coats of satin finish Varathane protect the wood. 

A piece of 6mm clear acrylic rod makes a good support for the Camel.
