The finished kit. This plane was used in occupied Poland, and right after the fights were over, the local pilots started using it. The swastika was painted over by hand, there is a photo evidence of this in a publication.

Internal structure of the fuselage. I had to add small scratch built details of the harness mounting plates, but otherwise it is fine. There is a mistake however - the rudder control cables had a small hole on the fuselage. Special Hobby has forgotten this detail, it is not made or marked on the parts. I realized this when it was too late.

Album image #8
Rigging in progress. Uschi’s rigging material is excellent, but I need more experience.

Album image #9
Fuselage closed for testing. The fuselage rigging was not done at this stage.

Album image #10
More rigging. Special Hobby made a small mistake in the rigging instructions. They marked only two cables going from the wing to the tail, but in reality there are four (both from the upper and lower side of the wing)

Album image #11
Fully assembled model. And even more rigging.

Album image #12
I used Tamiya, Vallejo and AK acrylics to paint the basic wood color and linen surfaces.
I also added the missing panel lines on the wing’s leading edge.

Album image #13
Another test fit of the fuselage. The wooden parts in the fuselage were painted with acrylics and oil paint. It was tricky to match them with the wooden decals, but I got it close enough. Anyway they’re was natural variation in the wood.

Album image #14
Wooden decal work in progress. You can see my base color on the wings.

I don’t like the paint job of the internal structures. Luckily it is hidden inside, and barely visible. Lesson learned for next time.

Album image #17
That’s how it started. I planned to use the CMK figure, but at the end I decided to use with my second SG-38 build.

Thank you guys! It was a quick project to try the combination of wood grain decals and oil paints to simulate wood. It turned out quite good, but I would change a few things in the future.
I have a second kit in my stash, I will build that one as the basic version, without the wooden nacelle.

Thank you guys! It was a very interesting project. I made wooden planes before (20 years or so), but the result was really bad. This one is getting close to what I wanted to have.

Thank you - I am still learning the rigging, but it was a great project. I also like it, and learned a lot during this build.
