Dear Tim.

Please do not describe our (my) models as "reboxes". Please treat them as new models, belonging to the family of the models of American light tanks M3/M3A1/M3A3/M5/M5A1. The family of these tanks is numerous, nad I took the decision to make as many of them as possible, NOT making them as REBOXES with decals changed only.
ALL the models fro this series/family, are different in plastic parts, sometimes these differances are small (few parts only), but in some circumstances bigger.
You should to look into the boxes first, than to describe them as "rebox". The idea was to make the whole family of the tanks/models, each time from different unit, each time different from the others in plastic parts, deaclas and story.
So I wish to ask You (kindly) for changing the descriptions below the models presented. By the way Where is the M5 model? It is also the member of the family, shame on You! So, once again, they are not reboxes of old models, they are family as a whole! The family of totally new models.

With Regards

Dear Jerzy,

We marked them "Rebox -> Unknown what changed". => this means somebody who know what changed is triggered to complete the info.

So please, instead of writing a long email with "Shame on you" => go to the product and "edit" the data!

"Where is the M5 model"... which M5 model? Do you think I know every single kit from every single producer? Please send at least a link. Or even better add it to the database yourself.

Thx,
Tim

and they are reboxes, even if only a small part are new sprues.... and that not all kits are on the database... well means that not all kits have been sold to one of us 😉

I believe that Mr Jerzy Majszczyk did not understand this open database. 😄

Shame on him.

Perhaps we should give Mr Majszczyk the benefit of the doubt; probably English isn't his first language, and maybe 'shame on you' is a poor translation of something a lot less judgmental sounding in Polish? Just saying...

+1 for Mike!

It's probably not... Anyhow - I totally second the fact, that if a model is only changed in minor details, it should be marked as a rebox with indication of changed parts. It still belongs to the same product line.

I personally hate to dig through seemingly different models, to find out that SURPRISE they differ in only details, and the majority of the kit is the same.

Hi guys, I agree Mike because my mother language is polish and I supose what Mr. Majszczyk in polish means: "jaka szkoda", in German "es ist sehr schade", in English "such a shame" (???? Sorry my English is not the best).

English is not my first language also, but I think that we should all be careful when we address all the mates, even more Tim. And we all also have the good old Google translater help.

👍I agree with Mike + Bernhard.

it is only an translat mistake

With all that has been said let me add that they are some fine looking models. Some one has changed them to show that they are kits with new parts.

Someone already explained that not tim is adding most of the kit info but the users? 😉

Presenting a company in a public forum, the words written should have been chosen more carefully. It sounds absolutely not polite, even due to the fact that Google translation has made some errors. Anyway, a big "thank you" to Tim, which is supporting this forum in auch a great way! Cheers chris

Well...Well.. having the Mirage company joining this site is a great proof Scalemates is THE reference site for Modelling passionate like me ! By the way I have some Mirage Kits in my stash and I like the fact that they provide some PE parts in 1/72 scale even if a greedy man like me would have wished more 🙂.. improvements could be the tracks 🙂 another proof that everybody can Improve 🙂 anyway : Tim please continue to improve your Site, while we all continue to improve the content, and.. Mister from Mirage continue to produce kits 🙂 Cheers !

Regardless of the marketing concerns of Mirage - and I own many Mirage kits - they should be listed as reboxes with new parts fore each version unless something substantial like entire hull and suspension has been retooled or the like. Decals and an extra small sprue added do not a "new kit" make.

Three things ( while I was typing this I see that some of my points have also already been mentioned by my fellow mates 🙂 ) :

1. Why post a complaint and some sort of an accusation (there's an exclamation mark, so there's clear intent to emphasize that part of the statement) publicly? Why not send an email to Tim directly if you want to discuss something. I take it you are able to manage finding the CONTACT button on this website? It's in the upper right corner. Especially if you are a manufacturer and probably want to discuss things in a civilized and professional manner?
Although... "shame on you" doesn't exactly resemble anything remotely professional, especially since it was publicly posted......
If you didn't mean to say that, that makes things even worse and all the more reason you shouldn't have posted that in the first place. I mean seriously... if you yourself do not understand the things you are writing / saying then by all means... do not write / say them in the first place.. 🤔 jeez...

Also, we should not have to explain that this is not a commercial website and that it is user maintained. He himself, on the other hand, should have made an effort to understand where he is BEFORE he publicly posted ANYTHING.

2. I fail to see how those kits are NOT reboxes. They clearly share some of the same base sprues! Even between the M3 kits and the M5 kits. And before you ask, yes, I have made an effort to verify that!

You may WANT to have them treated as all new tool kits but they simply ARE NOT. You even say that yourself... Quote:

"are different in plastic parts, sometimes these differances are small (few parts only), but in some circumstances bigger"

Having quoted that, a larger amount of changed / added / removed parts is still not a full new tool. It means it is still based off of another, earlier manufactured kit, i.e., it is a REBOX with parts changed. Simple as that.

I can understand that from a commercial point of view it is better (for you) to have them treated as all new tooled kits but then you may be surprised to learn that this is not a website for advertisements. This is a user / (potential) customer maintained database that includes as accurate as possible information on the kits added.

We try to make it possible for everyone (both ScaleMates users and people that do not have a user account here) to get the information they seek. Which is ACCURATE info on what is in the box and what to expect of a certain kit. We do not try to sell the kits by advertising false info, which it would be if we were to make all of those kits you mention look like they are all newly tooled kits.

3. If I may give you some (commercial business) advice? At the very least post clear and high resolution sprue shots of your kits on your website? Some added images of a completely built kit would also be welcomed.
The fact that you and many of your fellow manufacturers do not have these images on your collective websites, or any other clear informational images for that matter, is one of main reasons websites like ScaleMates exist! You chase your potential customers off on a hunt for information. This means you yourself lose all control over what information is fed to your potential customers. Be clear about what it is you are selling, do not make it hard to find the info.
I am giving you this tip from the viewpoint of a customer because I actually like your kits! They are pretty good! You have nothing to hide, you should be proud to show off your kits on your website! Your website is the face of you and your company. Make good use of it.

Let us close this discussion! The main result is that incomplete info was completed and the database improved.
