Hallo Hubert, nice start. Count me in. Cheers Stefan

Thanks, Stefan. For me this is first of all an exercise in riveting (using RB tool and must say it is fun) - doing this for the very first time, so didn't want to spoil any better or more expensive kit😉 Anyway, going to add here some more details from the scratch: upgrade wheel wells and gear covers, add formation lights - this is really a vintage kit and it shows. In the end I hope to get a result, which will look nice in the second row on my shelf. Best regards, Hubert

Hallo Hubert, thank you for the information. I have this old kit also in my stash and i am curious what you can make of it. Cheers Stefan

Rivets look very good 🙂

Thanks, Gents 🙂. Have just finished the riveting, only the engine and oil tank covers remained to be done. Corrected also cooler housings under the wings, panel lines out of box were much too deep. Still need to scribe on some circles and oblongs here and there. Best regards, Hubert

Nice job with the riveting Hubert. I was going to ask what tools you used to do that. I see some templates there. What did you use to make the "dots"?
Yes, this kit is sadly lacking rivet detail, it looks SO much better with them. Not sure I'm brave enough to do all that. Straight lines wouldn't be so bad maybe, its scribing the circles and other small stuff I'd have a hard time with, I have trouble w/my right hand. But I bet even just the panel rivets would make a big difference in the appearance w/a bit of panel wash detail. I'll do have one of those rivet wheel thingys, but it's not so easy to do. I'll have to look into some of those templates.
Nice work!

Hubert,
I'm not finding those curved templates, seems they'd be handy. All I find is these:bnamodelworld.com/pa..gw-models-hgw-322020.
and other similar ones.
and these: ultracast.ca/product..uction/Tools/E32005/.
And of course the assorted ponce wheels which I already have.
I'm not seeing any of those curved ones.

Robert, all was done with scribing tools and templates that came from Hasegawa, Trytool series. They should be available in most of the on-line hobby shops. Thanks for your comment 🙂 Best regards, Hubert

And the rivets, these were made with RB riveter, freehand. Stay tuned, best - Hubert

Hi Hubert, nice and educational build. Thanks for sharing!

Hubert Kendziorek
Thanks, Jay 🙂. Added the guns, some further work will be necessary, as the fit is poor. Have also drilled the 1 mm wide holes in the engine covers, which will be used to make the "fasteners" of the sliced plastic 0,8 mm rod. Stay tuned, best regards - Hubert

a tedious job, and a nice build of this old kit. Looks promising for the painting stage...

Thanks, Bart. Going to paint it as a Rhodesian bird, SR60 probably, glossy medium sea grey overall. Now I'm waiting for a resin Mk.II gyro gunsight to close the cockpit before I start painting. Best regards, Hubert

Great to see, this old kit gets the right treatment Hubert!

Thanks, Dieter 🙂. Just started the landing gear: new covers in correct size and shape and SAC white metal legs, with some necessary adjustments. Best regards, Hubert

Scratchbuilding: a big thumbs up. Looks great.

Thanks for your kind words, Mates 🙂. Slowly going forward with the fasteners of engine covers. Pieces of plastic 0,8 mm rod have been inserted into the holes drilled in the covers, now all will be cut to get the hopefully similar size of each fastener. Best regards, Hubert

Another great looking model, Hubert! Detail in the wheelwell looks great!

Thanks, Gordon - frankly speaking, anything added here looks better than these wheel wells by Matchbox😉. Finally found some time last evening and started with the decals. Serials under the wings made with OOB letters and numbers, slightly reworked (so that P turned into R, 9 into 0, 5's into letters S...). The decals are really thick, started to regret that I haven't gone the masking way, but in the end they responded well for the sol treatment and this morning things look a lot better. Serials on the fuselage still to be made. Best regards, Hubert

That's an elegant looking Spit. I'm making the gesture cooks make when a meal tastes perfect. 🙂

Good god, you would never think that was the former matchbox mold, Really excellent work!

Agree with Augie, most excellent.

Beautiful!!! The one colour paint scheme enhances the beautiful sleek lines of this magnificent machine! I realy like the riveting, it ads detail without distracting from the aforementioned sleek looks.

incredible work on those rivets, i did not see that before

Thanks, Mates 🙂 Really glad that you like it.
Under two coats of clear varnish the rivets are much less prominent than before, but hope that the wash and weathering will add some life and 3d effect. Stay tuned, best regards, Hubert
