O.k , in going through this kit I come to find that the directions are as clear as mud. I'm liking the parts in the Revell kit I have better. There are areas of the Revell kit I don't care for either. Looks like I'll be molding and buying parts for this one!

Bozzer
If it helps, I have been working on this kit too. Might I suggest that you sand/ file the white plastic parts that glue the front wheels to the axle, by 1/8"? The wheels are a little proud of the hood.
11 February 2020, 15:56
Tim Heimer
thanks, I've heard that from either you or someone else. There's a part that I'm going to emit from each side and just use the pin and pin cover since that one part looks to be the problem. I'm eventually going to be doing Snowmans rig with the same kit. I have the Revell Kenworth to which I intend to do the rubber duck from Convoy, I am going by the song and not the movie, so I have 3 more to build with that! LOL

What's the status on this one Tim?
12 February 2020, 07:23
Tim Heimer
As I'm having issues with painting 2 other projects I've been working on this one. Finished trailer for it and need to post pics. Also waiting for the two figures for this mean while.

Tim, The Duck is a Mack R700. Happy to help you with any information you need. The KW I have, well? I guess pictures speak louder than words...
12 February 2020, 21:00
Tim Heimer
Yes Bozzer in the movie the duck is a Mack. In the song, that inspired the movie, It's a Kenworth hauling logs, cab over Pete with a reefer on and a Jimmy hauling hogs. I am doing the Original song. I did buy the duck hood ornament. LOL!
12 February 2020, 21:20
Bozzer
Lol, so did I mate. I actually have two, but 1 is headless! I think I've got the only metal cast duck ornament, in the UK?
12 February 2020, 22:13
Tim Heimer
You mean headless or just the duck ornament? LOL!
13 February 2020, 02:01
Bozzer
Lol, just one of my Duck ornaments. I'm currently uploading some pictures for you, in my projects.
13 February 2020, 02:14
Bozzer
Thanks for the pictures Tim. On my trailer, the landing gear has feet, rather than wheels, so they're going to be scratchbuilt too. The rest is pretty easy. You should find that a Revell 359 Pete sleeper will be the correct size for your moving on build. Forget that last remark! I checked my Pete and the door is on the wrong side and it has round corners, not square.
13 February 2020, 02:42
Bozzer
Sussed it! It's the Revell W900 that has the sleeper, markers and bumper/fender that you need. I knew I'd seen them before. I have the T900, which is basically the same kit, with a few Aussie bits thrown in. Hope that helps mate 👍
13 February 2020, 03:43
Tim Heimer
Thank you! I've already combined the Revell pete sleeper with this kits sleeper, stole the bumper and other parts from the Revell Kenworth as well as made a pair of resin battery box's from it to do this truck right. That's how I got my 2nd battery box for snowman's rig. I thought I was bad with 8 truck and trailer sets, I lost count in your stash! LOL!
13 February 2020, 03:55
Bozzer
Lol, I've forgotten what I have myself. That's the beauty of scalemates. I can keep track of my stash.😉
13 February 2020, 09:48
Tim Heimer
FYI, if you leave out the part#11 for the front axle the width problem is solved.
15 February 2020, 19:13
Bozzer
Too late bro, I sanded an 1/8" off and it solved my issue.
15 February 2020, 23:57
Tim Heimer
Hey, As long as issue is solved great! I posted that as a helpful hint to everyone since the directions are weak! I'm still trying to figure out the air brakes! LOL, then there's the few spare parts left! I know when I get to Snowmans rig it'll be a breeze, well maybe not the colors but the build will be.
16 February 2020, 03:59
Bozzer
It's more of a very dark brown, than a black. I had to Google it. There's some very useful information, if you Google the colour. Half the battle is the research mate.
16 February 2020, 04:43
Tim Heimer
Oh I know! And for Hollywood vehicles it's more than half the battle! Did you notice this kit didn't give us the grab bars by the doors and the small am/fm antenna on the drivers side?
16 February 2020, 14:11
Bozzer
Tim, things like that, I have in the parts bin. There's no CB radio too. Luckily, I had one. I'm undecided about making the calculator though? Common sense says I should.
16 February 2020, 17:53
Tim Heimer
What it's worth I think the CB should be good enough. Silly me, with all those kits I'm sure you do! LOL! I've gotta make the grab handles and the sleeper door handle too since this is my 1st truck in over 40 yrs!
16 February 2020, 18:23
Bozzer
If you want Tim, I can have a look through and if I've got what you need, I can ship them to you?
16 February 2020, 22:55
Tim Heimer
I appreciate the offer! I'll let you know. I had to cut the damn truck in half and add 25mm! It was going to come up short! The different configuration of extra battery box, larger sleeper, ect! Snowman should be good with extra box.
17 February 2020, 03:28
Bozzer
No problem buddy

Chris Greathouse
Trailer is good!
19 February 2020, 23:35
Tim Heimer
Thank you Chris, I think you're the only one who's found it! LOL I hope the tire pics helped you.

I see.

I was distracted by all the showcases in the background, didn't see no trailer
20 February 2020, 07:23
Tim Heimer
Just a trick of the eye Marty! I did that intentionally!
20 February 2020, 14:38
Bozzer
Trailer! Damn, Tim, I forgot to show you the hook up! Remind me buddy. It's late here now, so I gotta hit the sack for work, but remind me tomorrow. It's really easy, but in the stage that you're at, maybe a little trickier? Still, I can share, that's how we work right? 👍
20 February 2020, 22:50
Tim Heimer
The hook up Bozzer?? Yes please show me what you are referring to. Yes that is the beauty here with everyone helping each other! I did notice on the trucks we are working on that when these movies were made, they didn't use suzie coils since they had not came out yet.

Tim Heimer
"Movin on" to an update. Fyi- the truck shown on the AMT box is almost correct for the 1973 tv show pilot ( In tandem ) ! In the 74 - 76 tv series the truck was a new 74 Kenworth with the larger sleeper and other changes for that year. Just recently someone found 1 of the 4 used for tv and restored it. Now if anyone has any info to confirm which 1 of the 3 rumored colors it was, please let me know. TY
21 February 2020, 02:41
Bozzer
Best I could find out about colour, was Apple green and lime green. However, there's a Facebook group for that movie/series, so it might be worth joining and asking questions buddy?
21 February 2020, 11:27
Bozzer
Colour update, Nissan Moss Green Poly or Ford Ivy Bronze. Apparently, they're the same colour, just renamed by the manufacturer. Worth checking out, but the Nissan colour is the colour on the tin, used for the paint job on the rebuilt truck. Oh the joys of having a day off! Good luck Tim 👍
21 February 2020, 11:41
Tim Heimer
Again, the pains of trying to do a Hollywood vehicle! I've been doing sooo much model building this week, that when I fart, it smells like either paint or glue! LOL! Hey Bozzer...the hook up thingy?
21 February 2020, 13:09
Bozzer
Yeah Tim, I ain't forgot about you buddy. Currently dropping off some kits for my son. I'll get the pics and info online, soon as I get back bro.
21 February 2020, 17:14
Tim Heimer
No problem buddy, you told me to remind you.

Do a right hand conversion and join the Groupbuild Tim!
22 February 2020, 11:53
Tim Heimer
Hey, at least I'm doing a truck at the same time, and by the time I get my parts from down under there the build will be over! At least it'll have some parts from Australia on it!
22 February 2020, 13:54
Martin Oostrom
Good enough for me!
22 February 2020, 14:25
Peter Hardy
That's it, you're in!
22 February 2020, 22:32
Tim Heimer
Cool!
23 February 2020, 00:10
Tim Heimer
Thanks but already seen that, also I found out that the actors had to get a CDL license to do the show, none of this being pulled around on a flatbed stuff now used. Do it like Pruitt as they used to say! LOL

Album info

In a attempt to build the Movin on truck, I found out that AMT fell short on their Kenworth kits for this. The sleeper is a single and not a double, the front bumper is the wrong one, and it's missing turning lamps on the front. So I bought the 925 kits to make this one and smokey and the bandit. Snowmans truck will only need the turning lamps and decal set.
