The construction of the lighthouse is very interesting. The base contains two separate apartments for the two lighthouse keepers (source: Wikipedia)

Structure of the 1st floor roof.

Album image #6
Album image #7
Roof of the 1st floor coated with 8 trapezoid shaped cardboard pieces. Plus 32 narrow reinforcing stripes. All glued with thinned white glue.

This time I used selfadhesive paper to create the reinforcing stripes for the side walls. Less work, less mess and no sanding& cleaning after airbrushing required.

Album image #11
Four “prebended” sidewalls in place.

I decided to install the windows AFTER completing and painting the base module. For installation from outside I attached a piece of Tamiya tape as “holder”.

Album image #16
Windows after positioning with few small blobs of white glue…

Album image #17
… after removing the tape holder. Sealing with thinned white glue at next.

Album image #18
Hart to believe that this subassembly consists 52 parts.

After airbrushing, sanding and second round of airbrushing.

Album image #21
Center part fixed temporary to the working base with 4 small blobs of thinned white glue.

Album image #22
All 16 supporting arms glued to the round walking area.

Album image #23
After removing the center part from the working base. Ready for airbrushing with dark grey. Center part ready for airbrushing off white. Result: after glueing both airbrushed parts together absolutely clean margin between dark grey and off white.

Album image #24
3 of 14 posts in place. Indeed white glue is a wonderful glue!

Album image #25
Gangway glued in place with thinned white glue.

Album image #26
Album image #27
Railing completed. Fortunately I decided to use 0,4 mm round rod for the railing instead wire. More flexible and easier to install.

Album image #28
Painting the white round rods in dark grey coming soon.

Album image #29
Base color dried. Any imperfections sanded with 1000 grit sanding pad smooth.

Album image #30
I had luck and found a wooden ball with nearly correct diameter (10,5 mm, should be 12 mm).

Album image #31
End finish with semimatt red.

Album image #32
A few days ago I thought that I would have to abandon the project because I produced a great mess while covering the core with 4 thin cardboard sheets.
1st step of the rescue - operation: I airbrushed more than 10 cubic centimeter 1000 Mr Color leveler.

Album image #33
Other site of the tower. The grey leveler is well visible.

Album image #34
After 2nd (thick light grey coat), 3rd (sanding with 1000 grid pad) and 4.th step (the finish coat with off white).

Album image #36
The very first study for the flashing circuit.

Album image #37
Flashing characteristic: 2 short white flash, divided by 15 second pause. I intend to “clenched” the sequence.

Album image #38
The CR 2032 is not able to supply the sheduled current of 10 mA. So I had to modified the circuit. Two large capacitors will be now the source for the two short pulses.

Album image #39
Batteries and the little 1/4 circle shaped board fits!🙂

Album image #40
Album image #41
5 mm white Led installed in a piece of plexiglass 10 mm rod. 3/4 of the fuel tank (remained after finishing my Decotora truck) as mounting.

Album image #42
For better handling I installed a connector for the Led supply.

Album image #43
At the same time the most complicated and important tasks in this project. At the first attempt I tried to build the lantern house of 16 sole trapezoid shaped clear sheets: I gave up🙁. At the second attempt I constructed the lantern house of one bended piece of clear material. That worked🙂.

Album image #44
10 of 16 pre colored framing of cardboard in place. I’m taking my time with this.

Looks like you're kidding us - admit it Bernhard, this is going to become a Haunebu flying saucer, carmouflaged as an australian
Lighthouse ! Indiana Jones missed out on this one on his search for the cryistal skulls…😄

Expert approach to every aspect as usual ! I think you've reached an interesting point here : There IS a scale effect on time !
15 seconds of darkness beteween the two white flashes would have defenitely been too long to look authentic,
so your decision to shorten the sequence was absolutely the right one 👍

Today I finished the Australian lighthouse and I'm very happy with the result🙂 At the same time, I am almost "horrified" 🙁 to see how big it is: A little bigger than Kermorvan. Doesn't fit in a showcase. So I have to "clean out" my largest showcase in the basement. Today only some photos taken in advance with the smartphone.🙂
