nice project. Concerning the wood rendition: the base color looks like a promising choice. For the wood grain you might consider oils. Burned umbra would be my selection. With big scales like yours decals might work very well too. I find acrylics on top of acrylic quite hard to handle.

This model is based on a truck that worked in Michigan in the 1970s. Dubbed "The biggest tanker in Michigan" by the owners. My build is an AMT International Transtar CO4070A modified to be slightly older, with the optional taller cab/lower fenders/steps and a Detroit Diesel 12v71 to make it a model CO4090. The tanker is a 3d printed body from Keystone with running gear harvested from AMT Fruehauf van kits. The real trailer had 3 lift axles. mine does not. The real trailer had a capacity of 17000 gallons of gasoline. Michigan allows 11 axles in combination.

That's a relatively light load per axle. The truck looks really good, but I'm a sucker for green 😄
