An interesting aircraft! I would have figured with the forward swept wings you wouldn't need much nose weight...

Here it is, Holger, please fasten your seat belts.... 🙂 I am very pleased about your interest on this project, gentlemen, because this Hasegawa kit is a sound offer indeed! By no means over-detailed but with very neat and precisely done parts. Yeah, Stefan, the subject of this kit is spectacular!
Gordon, nose-wheel kit part seems to be a quite sturdy, a one-piece affair.....

A first coat of "White" Gunze H 316 have been applied, later on it was sanded off on some areas to get a more satisfying smooth and glossy surface.

Nice progress so far!
And I'm also a bit surprised with the amount of lead in this one. Since I've got that one in my stash, it'd be good to know 😄
Are you going for an ever so slightly weathered look or brand spanking new paintjob?
Regards,
Rene

Thank you Rene! To be honest ,I did not think a lot about the weight needed- I just packed the openings full with lead. I like my models to have a certain heaviness, that makes them sit more stable on the shelf.... 🙂

The X-29 is nearing completion! Decals worked very well, which was a great relief after having read certain construction reviews.... This Hasegawa-offering could be built up to a really nice and neat representation of this exciting aircraft!

Ah you like to make your planes earthquake-proof😄
She turned out great! Sanding paid off👍
And I'm relieved to see the decals behave, I read those reviews too! 😄 and kind of feared for the coming masking job.
Beautiful plane...👍

Thank you Rene! Decals worked without any flaws- indeed, masking that complex appearance would be fun! Have un with your X-29, it´s really a nice an inspiring plane!
One of the few matters not offered by this kit are the two pitot tube near the canopy, I will reproduce them with plastc sheet- or etched parts- and needle-tips

Weiter so ........ 😉

Thank you both for your remarks! Oliver, danke für den Hinweis! Das erklärt natürlich einiges..... zb. das auffallend stumpfe Ende des vordersten roten Decal-Randes! 🙂 Bei der nächsten X-29 mache ich es besser!
Your words of encouragement are very welcome

Very nice build so far Roland. I've always wanted to build one of these in 1:48.

Looking good! what did you use for the cockpit? That is not a Hasegawa OOB

Dave, that's correct. The kit decal was used for the instrument panel, the rest of the equipment came from the etched-parts spare box. The harness was taken from an Eduard set.... ummm.... "Luftwaffe seat belts😉

At first, thank you very much for your interest and words! Lode, you point to something I admire in you shipbuilders: long breath, staying power and lasting enthusiasm! I try to learn from you.

Hehe yeah this little kit looks like a relaxed in-between build. Good point mentioning the decal alignment!
Luftwaffe seatbelts... Hear hear 😄

Yeah, this "Luftwaffe"- Grumman Hybrid was an ideal small project for in between.
Lode, I once have to try out my patience on a decent ship, way not "HMS Perseverance"? 🙂

This enjoyable project is finished... Grummans X-29 is quite a fascinating plane with pleasing lines- and this Hasegawa kit still offers a chance to get that lines captured in scale.

Another great looking effort, Roland! That would have been quite the masking endevour if the decals were unusavle. Now you need to make a X-31 to go along side it...

Thank you for your kind remarks, Gordon! Indeed, X-planes have caught my imagination, but it will be Trumpeters F-107, which will continue this series.

Looks great Roland, ultimate X-29 of all internets I assume.
I remember having issues with those long decals last year and some recommend cutting them in parts, did you manage to avoid cutting them?
And what did you use for the interior detailing?

Thank you very much for this great praise! I looked at your construction report beforehand and was warned Despite or thanks to that, Iwas happy enough to get all decals applied in one piece. The interior of the cockpit was improvised from etched parts, the harness comes from an Eduard "Luftwaffen" set 🙂

I thought you're gonna write about a unique edition of X-29 PE fret😉 but in such case, lot of respect for that very convincing scratchbuilt cockpit, Sir😉
