Well might have over done it a bit with the extra PE. Having gone through the kit instructions it looks like virtually every kit part is enhanced or replaced by the PE. Have to see how much I can physically use

Well I think you really have to pick your battles with the PE as there is so much and it's so small.

Thanks for the comments, decided not worry about which PE I can do but just have ago as it's the only way to have a chance to improve.
Now at some point I will have to do masking and that is looking like the biggest challenge, you can avoid PE but you can't really avoid painting 😆

Decided I've messed about enough, for the time being, with the PE time for paint.
Primer then black for the boot-top. Going to leave for a day to harden off fully before the masking begins

While the kit and PE are great in detail the instructions of both have their issues. For me they are not a detail as could be and lead to much head scratching in what should go where. There is one piece of PE I have now idea where it should go, will post pic in case anyone else who's done this kit knows what it is and where it goes 🤪

I've asked a couple of ex navy bods on ASM if they have any ideas. I'll get back to you if they know what it is.

For me it looks like some sort of catapult

One of the ex navy bods has said that it looks like some sort of portable ramp - maybe for loading if you intend to do a dock side scene. That's her best guess as she doesn't know much about Italian ships.
I've found some detailed photos of a model of the same ship and I can't see that part on it.

Cheers folk and great shout @gorby I'll go with it's a ramp for dockside. I'll also leave it as think I'm done with PE in 1/700 for now.

That's enough messing about, time for a gloss coat and some panel wash (if it can be called that on a ship 😁).
These ship builds are quite the timing nightmare, never enjoyed project management as a job let alone in a hobby 🤪

Thanks for kind comments. This was my first warship and at this scale the PE got a little tricky, so I missed off most of the fine weaponry I also only fenced one side so I see if it was worth the effort?
I actually got the rallying's going well so think it will be a must next ship kit but that will be a while 😁
Least I have a good selection of PE going forward 👍

I must say I had some difficulty with both the kit and PE instructions particularly with the motor launches and other boats, the location some of the PE should go was hard to worth out too. So perhaps not for a new comer.
