I did the first steps on this project. Next will be painting the tractor and filling/sanding the cow.
I hope you like the build so far and many thanks to @Kamil Feliks Sztarbala for this nice Figure. Cheers

I spent some hours on the basic weathering. I used bright oils to achieve a faded look and painted some rust areas. After this I fixed the tractor on its base, where I completed the basic groundwork.
I hope you like it so far. Next will be finishing the weathering and the last details on the base, before I start painting the figure and the cow.
Cheers

The figure got its colourcoat, next I will finish the base and the weathering of the tractor. After that I have to finish filling and sanding the cow (also known as mojo-killer)
Cheers

Wow that's good! The grassy area behind the fence is exceptionally effective.
Incidentally, I assume that this isn't the same for rest of the world but, the 'V' sign she is doing would be considered offensive in Britain. They wouldn't be offended by the model (probably more amused), but here, if someone flicked you the 'V' sign, it would be far from friendly.
Is she doing a 'V' for victory, or telling us to 'F*** OFF'?😉

Thank you spanjaard and welcome aboard Gorby. Always nice to have you around to learn more about the english language and gestures😉
I have a picture of Winston Churchill in my mind which gains a completely new sense now.
Cheers mates

well, the picture used in the project (inspiration for it?) is from WWI time ([img1]), and maybe they wanted to give exactly that impression.... women get to work in the farm (while men are at war) to win and f**** Hitler 🙂
on the other hand, since the poster was from US, probably not 😉

Traditionally in Britain, it should be:
Back-of-the-hand 'V' = 'F*** OFF' (apparently dates back to the 'Hundred years war').
Front-of-the-hand 'V' = 'Victory'.
As Spanjaard points out, the 'Call to Farms' poster is American, which would explain the confusion.
Winston used both – but in both contexts.

I have heard/read somewhere that some king (French?) used to cut the fingers of the archers he captured (he lost many soldiers by the English longbow). So for archers to show enemy troops the two fingers and the back of the hand was something like "see, I still have them, come and get them" (or simply "f*** you"😛 )

That's exactly right Spanjaard. It doesn't have a specific meaning other than that the other person isn't very happy with you, and we are happy to insult everyone these days, not just the French (although it looks like only the Brits know it's an insult). For some reason the Americans don't seem to understand the intricacies of medieval insults. Can't understand why? But thanks to the Yanks it seems to be loosing ground against the middle-finger insult - loosing another part of our proud English heritage. 🙁
So we are still using an insult born 600 years ago! I think you will agree, that's some pretty impressive, gold standard grudge harbouring, shame it isn't an Olympic event. The good news is that there is probably only 500 years left before we forgive Germany.😉

The project is finally completed. In total it was a fun build. The tractor was my second and the kit fits perfectly. Filling and sanding the cow was a real heckwork but in the end its worth the effort. I hope you can enjoy the pics

25 January 2018, 21:34
