What a lot of parts for such a small scale. Never realized it. Don't you paint your models, Tom?

Tini - yeah, I was surprised to find shells, engine, and what looks like the bottom of the turret basket on the Tiger II runners 🙂 It will be an interesting kit for sure. I paint slowly 🙂 I am coming back to the hobby after 45 years away, like a lot of people. All the new materials and techniques since then are just amazing, and I have a lot of learning to do 🙂 Actually just posted some progress on a Tiger I today.

Same here Tom, been away too long ?. Things have changed for the better. To discover on this site for instance how much out there is to buy, lol. On the news they had an issue about the booming business with model trains nowadays, due to the pandemic.

Omg Tini, so true. I have banned myself from my favourite hobby web shop. I'll see how long that lasts! 😄 Yeah, the hobby is booming, great to see 👍

The closest shop is 25 km away, and they have just the basics. Due to the Brexit post rates are going up, as well customs want to see it all, no fun anymore to buy in the UK. As you know my second hobby is Scalextric (you have to know it ?) you can imagine how much arrived from the UK in the past. Now mostly Dutch and German shops, through internet...
Darn, I miss it to rumble in a modelshop for hours...

Tini - yes, Scalextric is awesome, would love to do that again. Sorry about Brexit, it is a nightmare 🙁

There is a lot going on inside this Jagdtiger, all of it at 1:76 scale! My eyes are done. I'm doing the interior just to see what it turns out like. Not planning a cut-away just yet - I have another one of these in the stash just in case the interior is interesting enough 🙂

You made me looking out for a 1/72 or 1/76 model too ????

Tom
Tini, go for it. I am addicted, I have 3 more 1/76 in transit as we speak. Need help! 🙂 Doesn't hurt that they are quite cheap tho 👍 Also, have you seen the Hobby Boss 1:48 T-34/76 with full interior that goes for about 15 euro? Nice 🙂

The tracks for this kit are link and length, not rubber bands. Couldn't quite get them right, but the big Jadgtiger fenders will hide my mistakes 🙂

And there was an inconvenient ejector pin mark on the barrel, easy to fix though.

A lot of nice details on this kit, much of which will never be seen again.

Very high-quality assembly of a good kit.? Wonderful!?
Will there be figurines?

1/76 with interior? wow

Tom
Thanks Peter! 👍 There are two figures supplied (from one of the Tiger II runners), but at 2 cm, I am probably going to skip them. My figure painting skills are zero - although this week I am going to start learning 👍 It is a good kit, quite detailed, but still needing a few mods. The mantlet is quite badly moulded and has not come out well. But overall, very pleased, will prime/base coat this week.

Hi Spanjaard, yes, I didn't believe it at first 🙂 It is by no means complete, and probably quite inaccurate, although the gun mount is nice. If nothing else, it gives this tiny model a bit of weight 🙂

This is a qualitative approach to model kit development. Figures are not bad, you can work with them. The Japanese firm Fujimi produces many interesting kits in 1/76 scale. Even now, these kits look decent. By the way, it was with the kits of this company that I began in modeling. I built my first model from the Jagdtiger kit in 1/48th scale. I remember there were five figures in it. The second model is Tiger 1 (last type) of this company in 1/76 scale. I have very pleasant memories.

Thanks for the info Peter, I am just getting into the Fujimi kits, I like them a lot. Nice detail for such small models. I just received the Tiger I (late) 1:76 yesterday by mail order 😄

Primed and some base coat on before rain stopped play (I spray outside). Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and then TS-3. I will finish up the tracks and wheels with a brush, base coat the vehicle with TS-3, attach tracks and fenders, and then camo 🙂

Tracks painted, attached with fenders, build finished, 3-colour camo next.

Consistent systematic approach. Bravo!
What kind of camouflage do you want to paint?
9 May 2021, 07:32
Tom
Peter, thanks 👍 - the Fujimi instructions only provide a scheme for grey, so I am following a Tamiya guide for yellow (base), green and brown (pic 15).

Thanks Tom. I continue to watch.

I sponge-chipped the camo a little (a lot), kind of fades it out a bit. Next step, paint in the details, then a little bit of effects.

Btw, re. the Jagdtiger, I just learned yesterday, that the initial Henchel version had a different suspension system, than the later attempt by Porche to try improve on issues with costs/complexity re. the suspension system. A video claimed that the engine was the same as in the Tiger which surprised me, I guess I would have thought they put a larger engine inside.

Tom
Treehugger - yes, I think the Henschel version had 9 road wheels (as this kit does) and the Porsche version had 8 (on bogies). Heaviest AFV to be fielded in WWII. Mobility was definitely an issue!

Lovely job Tom, and all the more remarkable for being so small.

Though a decent kit for its age, you made a fantsatic job with this 👍

Thanks Gorby, Tini, Daniel and Rui 👍 I agree Daniel, it is a good kit, would like to get the 1:76 Tiger II also. Will be finishing this one over the weekend 👍
