home made spraybooth

Album image #1
big box , a rotating plate from Ikea, and a big kitchen fan

Album image #2
of course, some universal kitchen exhaust filter to protect the fan. and some metal net to keep it together

Album image #3
drilled back of the box, and set up the fan

Album image #4
built a frame to hold the filter and the metal net (behind the filter). fit at the end of the box. filter can be easily changed

Album image #5
added a couple of aluminium rods to hold a simple plastic sheet. the sheet can be replaced when fully covered with paint. I want to keep the booth clean 🙂

Album image #6
and of course, covered the rotating plate as well.

Album image #7
made a frame in aluminium around a thick transparent plastic, placed a fitting so the pipe can be added and removed, but have a tight fitting. with a safety pin made of metal rood. frame is hanging from a couple of hooks in the wall and it can be removed after the end of airbrush session. the pipe can be folded and place inside of the box to be taken out of the way. it is kept in place with safety pins in the back of the box and in the frame on top.
in the frame has also a thigh fitting and the pipe is kept in place with another safety pin.
this picture was taken before the final placement of the frame and filter inside.
the whole thing can be kept (closed so no dust will go inside) on top of a cabinet, and installed in about two minutes

Oh that's cool. Very good idea, Spanjaard. 👍
Looks like it will work nicely. Did you already give it a try?

yes, i have actually used it a few times. it works 🙂
something i forgot to mention, it works directly at 220ac, so no need for power supply. I thought about adding a dimmer in order to change the speed, but the truth is that it is not that noisy and what is to get as much air out as possible, so probably I will leave it as it is

I am, actually, i have done some modelling lately, not as much as i would love to, but some progress at least...
I have several models in 1/144 on the bench, you can check the albums 😉 that is a project i wanted to finish a lot time ago.... but slowly moving forward now.

I have a garage light (6000k 6000lm) on the ceiling, plus a couple of ikea.com/nl/nl/p/ter..donkergrijs-50355395 (very cheap and practical). One of them has a second 6000k 6000lm lamp. also there is a Maul lamp with a lense, but use it very little.
since the box is transparent, ceiling lamp plus the other if needed, give plenty of light.

and during the day, i have natural light as well (well, Dutch natural light can be insufficient, hence the lights)

As incredible as it may seem, I have practically the same one, even the rotating base is the same!. The only difference is that since I don't have windows in the attic, I built a box with filters to eliminate respiratory problems. All I have to do is change the filters with some frequency... but it works perfectly.

Nice work buddy, I just discovered this album.
I'm always curious, to see what everyone else is using? Obviously, I built mine big, to house a trailer, but we're all on the same lines.
Merry Christmas mate 👍
