....and here the third Do-335: this one has the right coloured background to be able to get the "khaki" of the French machine applied in the next step.

Looking forward to see this one painted. Well all three of them to be honest. 😄

Thank you very much, that motivates!
The decals are applied and sealed with gloss clearcoat; I'm looking forward to washing and toning down the gloss so you can see some of the depth and vibrancy of the khaki tone again.

A few new pictures of the French Do-335: a former Spitfire pilot is being retrained here on Dornier's "Arrow". This includes a donned oxygen mask and a revision of the harness as well as a new leather jacket 🙂
The propeller spinners are in preparation for a "spinning" display. For this, the large openings for the propeller blades have to be closed.

The pilot is now sitting in his workstation; the wiring of the headphones was done by means of very small cable litz; their diameter, however, was immediately reinforced somewhat by the paintwork. Even if you can't see everything when the cabin is closed, you can see enough that I'm glad about the effort that went into it.

I may present the finished French booty-Do 335! In keeping with the fact that I am showing here the fastest propeller-driven aircraft of its time, I have endeavoured to make a "fast-paced" presentation. The various suggestive cloud backgrounds were created using the mouse cursor on the screen. I also took the liberty of retouching away the one steel rod carrying the Dornier.
The pictures of this third Do-335 complete the small "Arrow" quartet, my quiver is now empty. 🙂
I hope you like the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them; thank you for your interest and your motivating comments!

Excellent paint job! Just the right amount of colour modulation 👍
… and displaying it in flight brings out the beauty of this plane much better 👍

Daniel, thank you for your kind words! Your feedback encourages me to show an aircraft in its element again from time to time. As Thomas wrote: there are constructions that look even better in the air!

I'm loving this Roland - can you provide some more insight into how you did those props? They are the best non spinning but spinning prop depictions Ive seen! Is the plastic opaque or clear? How did you paint the fuzziness of the blades? Cheers Chris

Hi mates, thank you for these most welcome comments, I appreciate your interest! Chris, these are words that make me very happy! I have posted a few pictures of the "making of" another project -a Bf 108- with moving propellers. I hope the pictures explain your questions. The propeller is made of clear, thin transparent foil like you can easily find for magazine covers or packaging. With the airbrush I carefully "breathe" some colour on it, getting thinner and thinner towards the outside. Here, too, less is more. I usually cut away the edges at the sides so that the transition to the background works even better.

Fantastic display. I particularly love the spinning propeller effect. How did you do that?

Excellent! That's the most convincing prop blur that I've seen.
