Wasteland Scavenger's Vehicle

I tried to think of what a scavenger would need to be successful: tools to get at usable parts, a way to move larger, heavier items, and space to carry the scavenged items. So I built a roof-mounted rack to carry tools, added a heavy push-bumper and winch to the front, and a chain hoist and frame to the bed. Steps mounted on the doors allow easy access to the tools on the roof.

I enlarged the bed by extending the trucks frame to support the dropped tailgate, and added height to the bed with corrugated metal panels. Added a bit of armor to protect the tires.

A chain hoist lifts heavy items into the bed. This lucky scavenger has scored a V-8 engine! Chain hoist and frame are scratchbuilt. The spikes provide a bit of protection to the rear, but since the scavengers need access to the bed, most of the back must be clear. Protection against pursuit vehicles is provided by two caltrop drop-boxes visible just below the bed frame.

I routed the exhaust out the side.

Push bumper and winch for moving debris out of the way, and a bit of armor for the cab.

Tools are scratchbuilt, or from spares box. Tool boxes and gas can are scratchbuilt.

Bed is filled with leftover kit parts, styrene, brass, aluminum, and wood scrap.
