Looking good! That's one heck of a barrel. 🙂

Katya Hodgson
Thanks! It didn't fit quite right (designed for a Dragon SU-100) but I improvised with blu-tack and super-glue, so it's pretty solid now. I did have to create a big counterweight though to stop it from just drooping. 🙂

Engine grille added and a whole bunch of wheels cut off the sprues!

Katya Hodgson
Preparing for painting!
6 July 2019, 10:04
Katya Hodgson
Top side primed!
6 July 2019, 11:04
Katya Hodgson
And there we go, that's the priming done. 🙂
6 July 2019, 13:10
Tim Heimer
So far so good! Keep it up!
6 July 2019, 13:33
Katya Hodgson
Thank you! Once this dries i'll get on with doing the russian green base coat. 🙂
6 July 2019, 13:40
Donald Dickson II
Nice job with the counter weight! Looking good.

Found some red star decals in my spares, so i'll probably be using those. I'd quite like to paint them actually, but i'm not very confident in making a stencil to spray though.
6 July 2019, 15:36
Paul Shearer
Looking good. Ingenious way of fixing the barrel!
6 July 2019, 16:18
Katya Hodgson
The base coat for the main vehicle is done, and i'm starting on the wheels using the mask I got.
6 July 2019, 16:25
Katya Hodgson
The road wheels are done, and I decided to paint the engine vents and grilles while waiting for some other parts to dry.
7 July 2019, 09:05
Katya Hodgson
Rear fuel tanks fitted!

Nathan Dempsey
Wow Katya this monster is looking great! The grills on top look really sharp too.
7 July 2019, 12:11
Slavo Hazucha
Agree with Nathan, the vents & grills look crisp and your builds are showing some serious upwards trend 🙂
7 July 2019, 15:17
Katya Hodgson
Thank you very much both of you! Here I have been adding some weathering to the lower hull sides and underside of track guards before they get covered by the tracks and running gear. 🙂
7 July 2019, 15:20
Donald Dickson II
Wow! Add me to the fans of the detail work! You are kicking butt on this one.
7 July 2019, 17:06
Katya Hodgson
Ran into a bit of trouble, I put the running gear on and then realised the drive wheel would have to come off to get the tracks on, managed to snap the peg for it off on that side! Not sure what i'm going to do now...
7 July 2019, 19:09
Paul Juliano
If I can't fix it, it. just becomes weathering... Good luck!
8 July 2019, 00:35
Katya Hodgson
It's not the sort of thing I can fix with weathering, if I can't sort this out it will prevent me from putting one side of the tracks on.
8 July 2019, 06:47
Slavo Hazucha
Haven't seen it, but I could imagine 2 options:

If the tracks are stiff enough & can be glued to solid form, then just mirror the other side once it is on, make the tracks hold the drive wheel in place and put it on the tank together with the tracks, making just a contact point with glue where it connects

Alternatively drill a hole in both hull & wheel and connect with something, ideally a metal bar, syringe ore something durable

Hope you can sort it out!
8 July 2019, 06:53
Rene Scheiblich
If you have some rods of similar diameter to the peg at hand, you could drill a hole and replace the peg with the rod. 🙂
8 July 2019, 07:29
Ade Spall
Looking good!
8 July 2019, 08:18
Paul Juliano
Good call Rene. I guess you could use some epoxy putty, too, if a brass rod isn't the right thing. Keep us posted Katya.
8 July 2019, 12:22
Katya Hodgson
A friend suggested I use one side to build both loops of track and then simply glue the broken wheel directly on once the tracks are on. I think I will try this, hopefully it will work. 🙂
8 July 2019, 12:32
Katya Hodgson
I'm getting back on track with the SU-100
9 July 2019, 08:43
Derek Huggett
Pun intended? 🙂
9 July 2019, 09:13
Katya Hodgson
Quite definitely!😉

Going to let this track fully "set" then carefully remove it so that I can do the other track also on this side.
9 July 2019, 10:09
Katya Hodgson
Waiting for second loop to set now.
9 July 2019, 13:45
Rene Scheiblich
Sounds like a good fix. So far very nice and sharp build. Who needs pegs, pins and brackets anyway 😄
9 July 2019, 15:30
Katya Hodgson
Painting and weathering tracks and other assorted parts!
9 July 2019, 18:35
Derek Huggett
Well done Katya - definitely NOT 'The Weakest Link'! 👍😉
9 July 2019, 20:19
Donald Dickson II
I will be tanking you all not to start with the puns.
9 July 2019, 20:40
Tim Heimer
Why Don? They're all punny jokes that don't need to be pun-ctuated!
9 July 2019, 21:10
Donald Dickson II
I dont want Katyas thread to tank is why.
9 July 2019, 21:39
Bob Hall
Красивый советский доспех товарищ!
9 July 2019, 22:27
Paul Juliano
I'd give an armor a leg to end the puns...
9 July 2019, 22:28
Katya Hodgson
Well i'm sure you'll all be able to "weather" them for now.😉
10 July 2019, 07:34
Tim Heimer
Apparently she's right on TRACK with this build and having a BARREL of fun with this PUNNY business WEATHER we like it or not!
10 July 2019, 11:40
Katya Hodgson
Decals are on, going to let them dry for a while, then do another clear coat to protect them from the weathering, and hopefully hide some of the carrier film that survived the microsol.

I tentatively decal-lare this a success!
10 July 2019, 12:11
Tim Heimer
Looking good!
10 July 2019, 12:41
Katya Hodgson
Found some assorted stuff to stick on, gun cleaning rod, a hammer, etc. So I think i'll paint those and add them before I do weathering, along with the tow cables. 🙂
10 July 2019, 12:49
Tim Heimer
Good idea! LOL
10 July 2019, 12:56
Donald Dickson II
I tried to stop this in its tracks, but I see my efforts were for naught.

Its looking good! Great job overcoming the broken wheel. 🙂
10 July 2019, 14:25
Katya Hodgson
Yeah, it was a bit of a fiddle, but managed it in the end. I'll be more careful when I do the T-34/76.

Added some extra stuff I had in spares! Now it has a stowage box, a gun cleaning rod, and a HAMMER for fixing glorious soviet engineering should it break down
10 July 2019, 14:42
Nathan Dempsey
Coming along nicely.
10 July 2019, 14:47
Katya Hodgson
Added the tow cables and sealed in the decals. It's now ready for weathering and a matt coat to finish it off.
10 July 2019, 17:47
Tim Heimer
Looking good!
