Bill GilmanWell, are you going to share the recipe with all of your Scalemates? I'll share my recipe - I spray the surface with Alclad Aluminum, and then give it a few mist coats of Gunze Clear Blue, followed by Gunze Clear Green. The key is to maintain transparency so the aluminum is still visible. The two Gunze colours are highly diluted, maybe 70% alcohol and 30% paint, so that I don't go too far. Gunze makes aotake, H63 maybe?, but it would look better on a hot rod. It's a metallic aqua.

@Bill, I used Tamiya X13 & X25 as the instructions called out for, started with equal parts 10 drops each, then added 2 extra drops of X13 as the result was too greenish, then it looked ok...
sprayed a coat of neutral grey first, then brushed on a coat of Mr metal color Aluminium with the grey still shining through, afterwards started spraying the aotake in heavily thinned mistcoats untill I was happy with the results...

Bill GilmanThanks, Zimmermaniac! It seems we are both thinking the same way, by applying the blue-green colour over the top of aluminum. If I remember right, that is how it was done by the Japanese.

Zimmermaniachmm Aghis, I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, the glossy finish is only there to help the wash, i'tll disappear under a coat of flat, I rather like flat finishes

Zimmermaniacfooled around with pastels to do a bit of shading, not too much cause it's a nightfighter, being stalled in hangars mostly during daytime

Jensabsolutely successful work, built very convincing and clean and painted 👍 👍 👍 mean is in stock and will probably still need och wait a bit, but the 2015 is long: D and thus a happy new season 🙂
