Heinkel He 162A-11 with a Welland engine
An old Airfix model of Gloster Meteor made by my older brother when we were kids.
Some paint remover applied to remove old Humbrol paint.
Most of paint removed, but the surface became srange.
Lots of cleaning and modifying.
Here the new cowling is coming from scratch.
1,5mm styrene part on the front.
Back-cowling getting more support to inside.
Front part sanded mostly to fit.
Rolls-Royce Welland is now glued in place on the fuselage.
These are masks by Special Hobby itself and they didn't match. Glad I used Eduard's masks with my previous built.
Tail and wings added.
The part fit is so good that the model is now ready for painting.
Priming and preshading.
I wasn't sure how I wanted to paint this, so I tried different camos on a painting software. I settled with this what-if design.

By the way, that overall aspect ratio reminds me of some guy that installed a large rocket engine on his motorcycle.

S MThanks! The engine does seem ridiculous being so big compared to the airframe and nozzle is comically tiny 😄

What-if kit-bashing. In this Luft46-scenario Germans have captured a few Gloster Meteors and have used their engines to power He 162. So instead of having one captured fighter they get two fighters. Also He 162 having its production volumes exceed Me 262's it is lacking BMW-engines. A-8-variant (He 162 with a Jumo 004) was one solution for this upcoming problem.
