For a cheap 1/72 Academy kit I payed $10 for it went together pretty well. No major problems... just a bit of filling and sanding on the seam lines. Thanks for the comments.

Really impressed by your tornados! Amazing work!
Do I see cat paws on the front landing gear door?
I agree with Charles-Henri! I also want to mention that I read your information with great interest. 👍
Thank you Charles-Henri, Hajo and Neuling!
@Hajo: yes, there are panther paws indeed on the landing gear door (as mentioned in my description above). Unfortuntately the only picture showing this detail is found only in the "Panavia Tornado - Colours and Markings". For the book (with decals) you can see a review here:
while the detail picture (in bad resolution) can be seen here:
The symbol of the air wing is a black panther (as seen on the vertical tail). Since the logo has a feline in it, the AG51 (nowadays named TaktLwG 51„I") is part of the "Tiger Association" and takes part in the anual NATO Tiger Meet events. This is basically the source of all those kitschy temporary feline-related painting schemes and horrible (if you're asking me) tiger stripes. These events are having the purpose of gathering and bonding similar air units (with feline in their logos) from different NATO countries.
And thank you Pero too, somehow I foegot to mention it, sorry.

Outstanding. Love that MFG camo 👍
Very nice 👍
Uhmmm... may I say that I like this Marineflieger Tornado even more (than your previous EG1 ECR-Tornado)? Very nice! Do you have another Tornado in the pipe?
Thank you so much everbody for the nice words. I really didn't expect it.
I have to admit, the bicolor paintjob of the MFG1 is my favorite from all Tornados ever (second place is the RAF desert pink). It has this delicate retro touch but in an attractive way.
@Mid Franconian: ooooh, you don't want to know what Tornado mania engulped me when I discovered these Revell kits. I initially bought this kitschy Tiger Meet 2018 edition kit as a joke when I was with a friend out. Little did I imagine what was about to come. I have managed to build 9 of them in almost one year, but one was a gift and never got the chance to be properly photographed. All of them are rather older ventures when I just came back to the hobby after 10 years of break so they are far from perfect. I am not particularly or equally proud of all of them. A few of them need a bit of rework.
I will post them soon, so be ready to be Tornado-spammed. You can check my gallery, since I already posted the third one from the initial MFG2 (before the fusion with MFG1). From the remaining 8 Tornados I still at home, 6 are German and 2 are RAF. I am planning a further German one (or two) and a Saudi one with the nice desert camouflage in three colors.
Na dann... hau´s naus Deine Tornados!
I have the Tornado kit as Black Panther edition here... and the same Modeldecal sheet like you used. But I do not know what to make of it... a MFG1 like yours, a TTTE Tornado in Norm 76 or a classic Norm 83 (or is it Norm 81?) with a MW1 taken from the older ESCI/Italeri kit... so many choices. But the Revell kit is still a nice one I must say. I built it once back in 1998... time flies...

Very nice Tornado. I especially like the spot-on weathering and colors. How were the Hahen-Decals?
Spectacular Tornado. Photo-session is very nice.
Thank you guys so much.
So I used a mix of decals from 3-4 different decal sheets. The Walkways and some stencils are actually from the Revell Kit.
So my opinion about the Hahen decals:
1. they are very well documented; they seem to be designed by someone which has a passion for the subject; I particuarly love the ones for the German Navy (Tornados)
2. they seem complete with respect to stencils, walkways, etc; the sizing is also very good, they fit perfectly to the Revell kit.
3. they are by far the best decal sheets for German Tornados with respect to the points above
4. Mr. Harald Hensel is a nice and friendly person and I contacted him several times for extra requests (extra decals with insignia, etc).
1.they need to be individually cut out from the decal sheet, which especially for the walkways is a nightmare. Only once I used the Walkways from his decal sheets for the unique German Navy Tornados and in combination with the next two points below, I wasn't very satisfied with the end result.
2. in my opinion, the decal film is very glossy and it shines sometimes even through a matt varnish, if the varnish isn't good enough
3. in my view the biggest downside of them: the decal film is too thick and tends to cripple at the edges, so any distorsion during cutting will create a permanent crippling of the film and create later massive silvering no decal solution can help you with; even if you manage to avoid decal silvering, you will still see those decal edges, which is so annoying and impossible to get rid of. I think in 1:48 this is less of a drama, but for 1:72 it can be horrible in some cases. This last point is the main reason I am not aure if to further recommend them for 1:72 or not. Depends on the expectations.
So I have mixed feelings about these decals. I still ordered some new Hahen decals for a German ISAF Tornado (Afghanitan missions) and I will use them once more, but I know their limitations at least.
monopiece carrier film is always a problem especially when trimming the individual pieces.
using a scissor is a no no.
relatively safer way is using a fresh blade BUT cutting the pieces from the back of the sheet, not from the front.
which itself can be a problematic for you'll need a powerful enough light source yet not hot (?!) so you can see what the hell you are cutting without baking or warping the prints - given the paper is translucent enough that is. otherwise yeah the edges are most likely gonna curl up... 🙁
still, the build looks absolutely lovely. 😎 them luftwaffe tornadoes are always pretty to look at. also another pet peeve of mine is the attention to operational loadout combos in scale model aircraft, another 👍 there.
The paintjob and weathering on your Toni is really fine! 👍
Thabk you guys!
Yeah, monopiece carrier film for decals are annoying. My main issue in this case is rather the higher film thickness which makes the cutting more complicated.
very convincing Tornado. Like it.
@ Marius: many thanks for your reply!! The issues with decals aside: the Tornado looks great!
Thank you for the nice words Michael and Franconian!

Thank you so much guys! I think weathering the metallic finish is not that easy. It makes it look quite often like a toy, especially in 1:72.
Beautiful paint scheme! Great result.

Mig-21 No.4324 (National Treasure) | Album by Boris
Thank you Jay for sharing those pictures. I had no idea that the red 4324 is considered to be an actual national treasure.
And thank you Lukasz and Vincent! I think I will try more often these NMF schemes. I really like the variations you can so on top of the Alclad Polished Aluminium.

Thank you Mark!
Beautiful MiG Marius 👍
Thank you guys. I have to admit, I had difficulties weathering the camouflaged area.
Really nice work Marius. Great looking MIG. Top job Sir.

Thank very much! 🙌
Very impressive "Fishbed". Rare variant and interesting historical note. 👍
Thank you for the nice words. I am indeed interested sometimes also in less known topics and now I am in some MiG-21 mania trying to cover as many interesting subject as possible (Egypt, Syria, Vietnam, maybe North-Korea, DDR/East Germany)..
Very good work!
Very nice and good timing to cover your Fishbedmania using the latest Eduard's kit 🙂
True, these kits are just great! I mean there are rather little things that need maybe improvement, but also out-of-the-box they look splendid.
Thank you guys! I am not really convinced of the brownish-beige I used. It seems a bit wrong I think. I might correct it maybe at some point.
On a side note, yeah, I just love this iconic look of the Super Sabre.
Wonderful colors here!
Another beautifull jet of Vietnam war. 👍
Thank you so much guys! Personally I am not very happy with the underside. I guess white is not always easy to weather. I think blackbasing might have helped here.

Beautifull Bird 👍
Thank you so much guys! I have to admit I am struggling with the photographic part.
Really nice Thud 👍
Congrats for this great model from me too.

Nice work !! I like the Eurofighter for it's clean looks, and always with a dirty APU exhaust 😉
Very nice work 👍
Thank you so much guys!
The Eurofighter definitely is cleaner than the...let's say the German Tornados (which actually are at the other end of the cleanliness scale).
I am curious if the new batches of the Luftwaffe dedicated for ground support will ever get a different paint job/camo.
Awesome looking Typhoon 👍

Nice work Marius. 👍
Thank you Mark! This is far from being one of my best results since it's an old model I built after a 10 years break from the hobby. But I thought of uploading the pictures anyway, since it looks nice together with the single seater..

Thank you Alex and Lukasz! I struggled myself quite long with the confusion of markings.
Another Stunner Marius! 👍
Thank you Daniel!
Thanx Marius for your color receipe. I had hoped that I just had to order a bottle for my MIG21 on the shelf. Looks like I have to mix nevertheless.

Great result on this scale. Another one on the bucket list. Would appreciate one or two pics of the building process too.
For me, the Tornado is one of the most iconic European Jets from the 80s / Cold War-Era. You definitley captured the look of it quite good!
awesome paintjob. Fantastic.
Thank you so much guys. Unfortunately I have no pictures from the building process.
Wonderful weathering! 👍
Great. Super weathering Job👍👍👍!
Very nice. Top work. 👍
Thank you for the feedback guys. I personally find the topic of Arab air forces from the 60's-80's very interesting, since I believe their were widely ignored or underestimated in the western world. This is by no means politically motivated, it's pure historical interest. I highly recommend the books of Tom Cooper & Co on this matter
