AREA 88: SA 341 Gazelle
What a great little box. I love older kits.
Yep. Not much in the way of sprues.
The main fuselage went together easily, but there's some work to be done on the seam.
XF-19 Sky Gray cockpit? Why not?
Hiding some lead in the centre console. Not much, but just enough to keep it from tail sitting.
Using some wire for the control sticks.
Tape seatbelts, wire joysticks and scratchbuilt pedals... oh, my!
Not much detail on the control console, but enough to make it look like something's going on there I hope.
Main bubble attached... for now. Used glue very sparingly in an attempt to not damage the clear parts, but not quite enough to hold it all together given the sketchy fit.
Some careful masking.
XF-19 Sky Gray again? Why not?
Some tape cut up for camouflage masking. A bit tricky around the gun mounts.
Showing off the better side. 😉
All the rest of the bits attached, now for a bit of Future and some weathering.

Cockpit finished. Not my greatest work, but it'll get the job done I think. Glueing the clear parts was a bit of a challenge. I had to shave the futon console and then prop the top of the side doors to get it to fit properly.

There we go. Basically done. Maybe just a quick coat of Future and a wash.

maybe stating the obvious but... why did you remove the masking of the clear parts if planning to use future?

Ahhh… I can see why you might not be familiar with this technique. It's called "poor planning" and sometimes referred to as a "mistake". 😉

I thought Future gives the canopy a brilliant shine and covers any scratch on it

It does if you dip it (which I did). If you spray it it has a tendency to create a bit of misting, unless, I guess, you spray it a whole lot!

Since this is based on the scene from the Area 88 manga, there are machine guns on both sides.
