I think I'm in love... Beautiful creations these are. Studio Ghibli is near and dear to my heart 🙂 Thanks for sharing

bobinspokaloo... nope... not particularly normal... and no boundaries here - at least not as far as modelling goes... 😉

Thanks Chris. There's more in the works, so stay tuned. I just took apart a die-cast 1/72 scale Audi A4 which I have plans to turn into a plastic model for the parents' car from Spirited Away.

I've no idea what half of these are, but it's seriously impressive modelling.

Great work again. Please don't go "normal" Greg (a sure mojo killer) 😄

OK, so are these kits or scratch or bashing or what? Very interesting and different. I like a lot! 🙂

Thanks guys. I'm glad you like them. They're more or less from scratch, although they might be considered a severe form of kitbashing... I mean the blue Daihatsu Midget 3-wheeler is the chassis of a Jeep married to the front end of a Kettenkrad... and then loaded with the entire household AND the kitchen sink. Both the Flapter and the Dream Plane started out as Spad XIIIs, but then the Flapter got bashed with the undercarriage of a Me163 and the Dream Plane got some wings made from the sails of a Cutty Sark... while the rest of the Cutty Sark turned into Fujimoto's flapping submarine ship...

It sounded better in my head. 😉

Anyway, the blow by blow details of each one of these projects are in my collections/projects section... and they're getting uploaded one by one to my blog - strobez.ca

Wow, they are sooooo tiny! 👍

@Łukasz Gliński, That's what she said 😛 @Greg pure ingenuity on the brainstorming/scratch building/ kitbashing you did!! I really love the Midget, I could see it driving down the road with dad, Satsuke, and Mei to the new house.

Thanks Chris. I have to admit I am really proud of how that one turned out. Everyhing you need to build your own is in the Academy 1/72 Allied/Axis vehicles of WWII box. 😉. I will admit after I got the l'il truck build I realized, to my horror, that it just didn't look right unless it was piled sky-high with their stuff. I felt like I was build dollhouse furniture for a bit, but it paid off.

heck yeah it paid off! all the furniture is beautiful. looked at that allied kit and I could see the bits and bobs that made up your blue midget, very cool kitbashing as you called it. I have a 1:24 Midget II R-Type kit on order from eBay. I've always loved the weird little vehicles of that region.

Impressive collection. I'm off to watch Nausicaä since all these builds brought back the good memories of working at the hobby store, the smell of glue in the air and those movies playing in the background.

This is the work of a genius, I take my hat off to you Greg for making these ideas in your head turn into reality.👍👍👍

Thanks guys! I've got a bunch more Ghibli builds in mind, the next one is probably the Audi A4 from Spirited Away, but I have to revive and finish my Nausicaa Ohm project first. 😉

Hey Chris, let me know when you get started on the Midget. I'm a fan of those weird little guys as well.

Will do, Tom wants me to do the James Bond Submarine Car next... Hopfully the midget will here by the time I'm done with the FXXK and Sub... takes forever to get stuff from overseas 😄

How fantastic is your imagination.! ! !🙂 🙂
Even more incredible for you to be able to bring these gems to life. 🙂
Thanks for blessing us with your work. 👍
Fantasmagoricle I believe the word is to describe what's here. 👍
I love them. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks Kerry! I wish I could take credit for the imagination, but I'm pretty sure the lion's share belongs to Hayao Miyazaki and his mates at Studio Ghibli. I'm just doing my best to get my fingers in the mix and try to breath some of that magic into bits of plastic. It makes me glad to think that it brings a bit of joy to this fine community.

showed a friend a bottle of 23ml Tamiya paint off my desk, she said that's a pretty small jar... Then showed her your creations and said the bottles in the pics are 10ml, she went nuts at how small they are. She loves Studio Ghibli and says great job!
24 December 2018, 22:52
Greg Baker
Heh. I had to put in the Tamiya jar to remind everyone, including myself, of how small these are. Sometimes I look at the pics and wonder how I missed that spot, or why it looks that rough... then I look at them on the shelf and go "oh yeah.... that's why". 😉

Heh, thanks guys. I noticed a couple of views on my blog originating from Facebook and I was a bit surprised to see them. Thanks for getting the word out. There is a Miyazaki Modelling group based in Japan that's done some really great stuff as well. home.b01.itscom.net/y-kano/miyazaki-index.htm
