Watching😎 Nice One 👍 how do you find the kit so far?

Thanks Rui!
The kit is excellent.I spent approx. 5 hours(excluding PE soldering off course) to get it to that state.

and very cheap too 👍. Do you find essential a metal barrel?
17 June 2019, 20:16
Angel Yovtshev
Yes, I think nowadays this series of 15 years old Trumpy kits offer the best value to cost ratio.IIRC I paid something like 14 EUR for each kit-and I have 2 more in my stash...
No, metal barrel is not essential, but I have bought one 3 years ago-back then I thought each kit I decide to build has to have a full set of goodies...

My GF said- "You cut the fenders, cause you were too lazy to do them in their entire length, yes?!?"

Oh boy, that´s a serious beating... 😮 If Rocky Balboa had a tank... And the "troop artwork" on the turret appears to be hand-painted? You really gave it some attention & it shows!

Thanks Slavo!
Yes, it is quite unlikely that a KV-1 "lived" long enough to get into that battered state.AMOF, that particular vehicle served for almost 18 months before being damaged beyond repair(yet there were 2 complete overhauls within this service life).
As to the decals- they come with the kit, but are quite tricky to use-mainly because of the irregular shape of the "Fire on Hitler" decal.

Thanks also Alec and Bart!
I usualy refrain from such heavy weathering(too lazy for that)...
Yet the fact that I'm building a jubilee present for my brother-in-law, coupled with the hindsight, that a man turns 50 only once in a lifetime- are giving me the motivation to spend almost 2 weeks weathering...

Unique presents like this are always appreciated, as this one will be I am sure. Hopefully your brother-in-law will not draw any parallels between the weathered appearance of the tank and his turning 50... 😄 🙂 🙂

Your brother in law is a lucky guy. Did you think about inserting the KV1 into a vodka bottle like the sailors do for sail ships ?
2 July 2019, 16:09
Angel Yovtshev
Thanks Olly!
I did not, but I think a barrel of vodka will suit all tasks better 🙂

Wow realy nice build! I always liked this KV. It's a shame that this machine 4 times returned from behind enemy lines being badly damaged (and it cost lives to some crew members) and lived long enough to see the end of ww2 just to be scrapped in 1948. It has very interesting and heroic history behind.

Thanks Dmitri!
It is exactly because of its heroic history that I selected this particular KV-1 for my jubilee present. My brother-in-law will definetely appreciate it.

If i am allowed to make an suggestion. I would chip/damage the decals a little bit. They look to "clean/new" in my opinion. 🙂
Or maybe darken them a little bit with a wash.

Thanks Ingo-I'll follow your advice! 🙂
