Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench I do not think all of the "cool kids" paint in oil. I tried both methods (oil / acrylic) and both have its advantages. Oil is easy to blend(blending). But the drying time is relatively long. And the colors Look a bit different after drying. Acrylic is drying super fast, does not smell and is available in many colors. I have used the Andrea Fleshpaint set for my last figures (Around the Corner, Hue 68 . I am really enthusiastic about the opacity and how great the highlight and shadows match each other.
The disadvantage is that they do not blend so well. It should be applied layer by layer in thin layers. My problem is aware of this .... I have to invest more time for the individual layers and dilute more.In my taste I rather work with acrylic but especially with the weathering, oil colors are indispensable for me.

Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench But you did a great Job on your Figures
7. March 2017 at 17:50:06
gorbygould The ICM Soviet NCO looks very good. I assume that these are 1/35 figures?
8. March 2017 at 15:40:23
EnsignExpendabl Yes, these are all 1/35th scale. That particular one is from the "Soviet Staff Personnel (1943-1945)" kit.
8. March 2017 at 16:14:34
Norbert Steffens I fully agree with Markus . I'm also ha my expierience with both oil and acrylics. In the past I'm using only oil for painting my figures. But now I switch over to acrylics.

EnsignExpendabl Thank you all! Yes, it probably would have looked a lot nicer with blue LEDs, if I could get a hollow mounting rod to run the wires through.
6. August at 14:33:24
Spanjaard an aluminium rod? easy to get by, light, strong, and it could look good.
7. August at 09:37:46
EnsignExpendabl Too late now, it's all sealed up. I will definitely consider it if I ever make another spaceship.

Ingo F Nice! I am in. :)
17. October 2018 at 10:46:21
Katya Hodgson The Zvezda KV-2 is great, I love mine. Better than the Tamiya one IMO, definitely more accurate to the real thing.
17. October 2018 at 15:50:02
EnsignExpendabl The Tamiya KV-2 is terrible. The Trumpeter one is better. I have the photo etch meant for that kit, but it fits very poorly into the Zvezda hull. The Trumpeter hull is narrower and longer.

I am using photos taken by Yuri Pasholok of a KV-2 from TsMVS as a reference, but the tank itself is far from original. Only one road wheel is correct, the fenders are new construction, and the track links are from the IS-8. Also the MG ball mount is inside-out. Still, better than nothing.
