That's a great start, Martyn! 👍 You gotta love Tigers. Especially the "Feifeled" ones 😄

If I may ask, were your DS tracks damaged, as in, things like the guide teeth have been bent because of Dragon's current inadequate packaging strategy? And is there flash on any of the tracks?

Oh wow... is the kit heavy? Must have some gold inside for it's price.... 🙂

Hi John, yes some of the guide teeth were slightly bent but nothing too drastic. Its an expensive kit but I had to buy it. I intend to try the hairspray technique on the winter camouflage, so should be fun. Never tried it before

Sounds great, Martyn! 👍 And I'm happy to hear the DS Tracks were reasonably okay in your case!

Although expensive, this is indeed a very nice kit. The level of detail is awesome.

Having said that, I will never buy it at that price, specifically because it's an at least 90% old kit with only some parts newly tooled and they removed all goodies. I just don't think it is worth it. Not for that price anyway.
But having said THAT😉 obviously this is merely personal opinion on the buying aspect and does not reflect upon the quality of the kit, which, like I said, is really good 👍 So I fully understand why you would want to have it 🙂

Are you going to use actual hairspray for the hairspray technique or one of the prefabricated "potions"😉 personally I use the chipping products of Mig Productions and Ammo of Mig. They work really well too.

Nice start Martyn. Daring of you to have a go at wintercamo on a kit like this. I made a 1/72 tiger wintercamo once and it looked ok. Tried it recently on a 1/35 SU-76 and wasn't too pleased with the result. Luckily it was an inexpensive kit. i like the DS tracks for their ease of use. However they get brittle over time and break. I had that with happen with one set 🙁. Looking forward to the final result. Good luck and happy painting 🙂

Looks great! But mabey you should think your paint a bit more and mabey increase air pressure a bit so your paint isn't so bad with over spray and more smooth and tight

Thanks for the comments guys.Good advice Hunter,I'll take it on board 👍.Hi John/Jan,I suppose it is a risk but have used the AK chipping fluid and have been pretty pleased with the results. I'll upload some more pics soon.

Oh that's interesting to see, Martyn. I have recently ordered a bottle of chipping medium (I think it's also AK) and have not used it now. How did you use it?
Looks good at your Tiger. A bit of dirt and dust will tone it down.

Yeah! That does look great! Well done, Martyn! 👍

Thanks guys. I airbrushed three coats of the AK chipping fluid straight out of the bottle. I let this dry completely and airbrushed Tamiya white for the whitewash finish. After this had dried I brushed warm water onto the surface and began chipping away with a short bristle brush and a toothpick. I now intend to seal it all with another coat of Future and then start the weathering process.

Looks good Martyn. Might have to give it a go myself in the near future. After all, winter is coming.....

Initial weathering completed, filters, pin washs etc. I will complete weathering such as mud and dirt effects when I sort the diorama base out. I intend to display it on a winter type terrain with the five figures supplied with the kit. I'm trying to source a German press photographer figure, the only one I can find is an old Verlinden one.

Looking good Martyn. I think I have to dig deep into my wallet and add this kit to my stash after watching these photos 🙂

That is great weathering work, Martyn! Really good! I love the weathered white-wash! 👍 👍

I have checked my references to see if I could find a German PK camera man but also couldn't find one. I think you are going to have to modify an existing figure. Maybe convert one of the figures from the Bronco set CB35140? Shouldn't be too hard because they are already wearing ankle boots with gaitors, which would be correct for a late war German uniform. And most of the front of the jacket will be hidden anyway, so no real need to do major surgery on the pockets / belt, etc.

For a Winter setting, the utmost right figure in this Bronco set would probably work by making the British leather jacket look like a German Winter smock.

Or just use one of the cameras and use a German figure of another set that might fit the bill?

You could also get the camera from PlusModel and make another (German) figure fit that: scalemates.com/kits/700043-plusmodel-el063-camera

Thanks for the comments guys and thanks for the information on the Bronco set John. I thought a company like Masterbox or Miniart might do a suitable figure set as they tend to do some usual and different figures. Still the Bronco set does look good and could be a useful set to get anyway.

Nice Tiger Martyn 👍I must have a go at painting figures sometime....

Thanks Jan. You must have a go as I think a figure can set a model off. I don't think painting figures is my strongpoint, especially looking at the standards of some figure modellers I see at shows.

Yeah, figure painting is an artform in itself.
