Hi Bernhard, interesting subject. I will definitely follow this.I had a lot of fun building my Germania-Figures civil war vignette. The Germania-Figures are really nice in detail and a fun to build and paint. The Roman watchtower looks interesting too. Looking forward how it will come out at the end.

Cheers, Christian

The fit of the laser cut parts is excellent. It was pure fun to gluing the balsa and card work parts together. I use watter thinned "white" wood-glue an applied them with two brushes: wide and flat for large areas and fine for tiny parts. Unfortunately I make a mistake (overlooked a clear hint in the instruction sheet) and mounted the wider "stone base" too low🙁

Grabbing my virtual popcorn!

I also have the Limesturm in my stash but what I had in mind was way too complicated, so I shelved it. Following your project might inspire me again 🙂

Your welcome Martin.

All 4 gallery-parts in place.
Picture 9: The support arms on the right side consists of long pieces through the inside building and short drag struts: because of this the alignment is automatic. The support struts on the left side are v-shaped. I glued them first only on the lower side and after drying I aligned them. All the trapezoid-shaped walkways parts should be shortened about 0,5 a 1 mm for perfect fit.

Hi Bernhard, spannendes Projekt. Ich habe den anderen Limesturm Federicus Rex und bin mal neugierig wie es hier weitergeht. Viele Grüße Stefan

looks good, a bit of a pitty that the woodstructure of the reinforcement beam for the walkways doesn't go lengthwise...

I'm glad that you like them Mates. Indeed I'm have a lot of fun🙂 It's stunning how thoughtful designed is this kit. Excellent fit especially on the galery railing.

Today morning I finished the roofing. So the soldiers can move in without there bunks getting wet (by the way: the kit contains two bunks, one table and two chairs. 🙂

Yesterday I looked in the net for ideas for the diorama and discovered several cut out pictures showing the interior of the limes towers. Of course the beds were on the second flor, and my roof was already glued in place🙁......
But there is always good side: the windows in top flor are much bigger so you can see more🙂

Looks great Bernhard! Though, every time I hear Romans, I think of Asterix and Obelix....

I never thought that it would be so difficult to fit the figures on the grass. One could think that the soldiers have drunk too much wine....🙂 A piece of 0.4 mm wire glued into holes in the legs helped to hold the figures in place.
By the way: to break the monotony of the very clean walls (white paper) I used different pastels here and there.

You seems to build all kind of models in all scales from all materials! After the funny Fahrvergnügen now something completely different. But one is common: a very good quality of your models 👍

Very nicely done! I read somewhere that Roman soldiers drank a lot of wine (in fact, particularly so before battle), so you were on the right track 👍

Realistic looking scenery ! Like I said, when I had the opportunity to see this project "live and direct", the weathering of the wooden parts, especially the roof, looks superrealistic to me, excellent !

By the way: I'm looking already for the next building of Fredericus Rex.

Album info

In the past I've build a lot of plane plastic models... Now it's time for a "back to the paper card and wooden roots". A good time to build the very interessant kit of Fredericus Rex which I buy 4 years ago in Heiden.
