Stencils? What to use for stencils? Ordinary black stencils for an early US marked version?

Urban, if we can wait for them, a company in the UK is supposed to be working on UK Phantom stencil sheets in 1/48 and 1/72. rammodels.co.uk/ I have one of their 1/72 F-4K sheets, and am eagerly waiting for the F-4M and stencil sheets.

The stencils were different than the US, hence the wait for more modern artwork.

Thanks mate! That sounds great, really great indeed! I can wait as I never start a project before I've gathered everything that I know that I'm gonna use for the project. I've just started planning and research for this project. DMold for exampel don't accept any orders at the moment and I'm after their nice air ducts. So it'll take some time before I've collected resin/PE/decals for this build. But the first step is on the go as Augie have said that she can send me 892NAS decals and that is a pure joy as that's the squadron I want to build. It's a little like it's for me when it came to USN birds that if there's possible to build the bird in VF-31 colours I'll do just that. The two best liverys on a navy bird, RN 892NAS & VF-31...

I am also a "gather, then build" kind of guy. Luckily, we have other projects that we can do while we wait for announced products, eh? Heck, I have projects waiting on myself to make masters and pull molds, before I can do them.

This can be a strange hobby,,,,,,,with thousands of products out there, and more coming out every week, there are still items that no one has produced, and no one ever will.

It has taken me two years to gather all that I need for one Chu Lai Skyhawk in 1/72, and that should be the "easy scale" for something as simple as a Marine Skyhawk, you know? It is my own fault, wanting to do what is in one certain photograph, but I "need" to fill a gap in the ole Scooter collection.

It's only as easy as you make it! I like to play with after market stuff in 1:72, partly just because I can and partially for the Oooo's from those that think that 1:72 is a toy scale. I'm moving up in scale though mainly because there's even more expensive things you can gather for each build. And that's what I like, play with after market stuff, I don't think that I can build OOtB anymore...

Urban Gardini
But there's a way to build OOtB after all. Eduard to the rescue...

Urban Gardini
I gather that the nose numbers is in 12 inch size.
27 October 2016, 21:07
Augie
I'll measure mine an give you the MM hight of them
27 October 2016, 21:24
Augie
Ok, so the ones on mine are a little over 9mm in hight.
I dont have ones on the wings because I wreaked them trying to get em on
27 October 2016, 21:28
Urban Gardini
That's 17 inches...

White or grey intakes? The kit I've got states grey but I'm not sure that's correct for an early Navy Bird.

Maciej Bellos
Watching. Will it bear "Colonial" Navy markings? ????

Great Urban. My Fujimi will be a traditional RN bird but eitherway I am following.

But it'll take a while before I start this project as I'm in the collecting phase at the moment.

A lot of goodies is as of now ordered and on the way but there's two factors that you've to wait for before I can start. 1, DMold Modelworks need to reopen their site so I can order the intakes. 2, I need to finnish my ongoing "All-in build" first and I've not been able to do anything with that build now for seven-eight weeks now due to my injuries but I hope to start with it again soon.

Augie, one can never have too much references! Sadly I'm lacking when it comes to the Spook...

Augie
Urb,

Not a worry let me pull it all together and I will post what I can and send links to the rest.
28 October 2016, 23:06
Urban Gardini
Thanks Augie! The decals have arrived undamaged. They look really great and thin on the paper, I guess that you didn't need any decal solutions when you used the other decals from the sheet.

I'm a bit surprised though that AeroMaster have missed the small zap in the middle of the Omega on the tail.
31 October 2016, 13:29
Augie
I never noticed that bit lol. They are very thin decal solution was used on mine, hence why i needed spares.
