Yikes! Huge gap between the wing root and fuselage.

Album image #11
Much better. Re-cemented the wing and followed up with putty.

First timing using Tamiya primer from a spray can - pleased with the results.

DISASTER! While applying the final (final!) clear coat, I had a massive drip out of the airbrush. No decals damaged, but the finish is ruined. I am pondering how to fix this.

Some delicate retouching work, and I think we are back in business

Excellent plane! I have one of these (in its T-33A trainer version) in my planned project of desert boneyard 50s jets : 50s Desert derelicts | Project by Graybeardie (1:48)

Classic. I built the t-33a in the form of an old chromed hawk kit. The f80 has even better lines. It's a beautiful aircraft and your nmf looks great.

Thanks for your comments. If I couldn't find an F-80, the T-33 would have substituted perfectly well. These early jets have a character that their modern descendants lack.

I've never tried to do preshading with nmf before, looking forward to seeing how it works out.

@Ben M - that makes two of us! I'm trying a couple of new things this time around. It was interesting to note that the application of a gloss coat really seemed to make the pre-shading effects stand out.

It is good to be aware of that phenomenon - thanks Christian 🙂 Surely, I will try preshading with NMF too one day.
