Me too! I'm planning on building this one myself so I'll be interested in your thoughts on it, Roland. Nice start! 👍

You have my attention sir!

Feel welcome Gentlemen!
Although I am aware that the shown interior suffers from something of self-responsible crudeness, this project already gives me great pleasure!

Ah, a new project - and again a Spitfire. I definitely look at that.

Thank you guys for your interest! And even "Northern Skies" again, Stefan: this will be a Swedish recce-bird.

This Airfix-kit is a joy to build! Fit of parts seems sensational, the layout of the parts is quite sophisticated and sound.

Glad to hear that, it looks much nicer than their 1:72 scale kit. That one is nicht so gut. It was one of the first after Hornby took over, but they've become very good indeed with their latest releases.

Thank you mates! Yes Bill, my praise refers above all to the thoughtfulness of the part structure. This is really goal-oriented and wirklich gut gemacht. For example, the sharp rear edges of the wings are achieved by a smaller lower and an overlapping upper component.

Everything prepared for a first coat of Vallejos PRU-Blue...... I put Alclad Aluminum on certain places, to allow some chipping- although I have in mind, that these Swedish Spitfire where kept in flawless condition.

Das hab ich doch bisher verpasst. Sehr schön. Bist du bei der GoMo?

Ja, werde beide Tage mit dem Club dort sein. Sollte doch klappen.

Das wird es!
Gentlemen, I beg for your advice! Vallejos "Pale PRU Blue" resulted in a rather pale -oh yes, I definitely should read label inscriptions 🙂 -blue surface, and I am not all too happy with that. The real thing looks darker on photographs.... What would you say? Should I repaint with a darker blue- perhaps you even have a guess which colour?

Björn Svedberg
If it is the swedish version you are building you might get some indication of the color from this photo that I took at the Flygvapenmuseum. The lighting conditions are not optimal, but close to the tail of the plane there is a white light that should give a pretty good look of the color.

Thank you Björn for this hint and the reference picture. Look like a visit to this place would be a most desirable thing!

A friend helped me with xtracolor PRU Blue, which is much darker and seems to be near the original. Before I did apply the paint, I scrubbed and sanded the Vallejo color...... to get a little of the preshading effect saved.

The Mk.XIX/ S.31 is not far from completion by now; Next I will gradually reduce the glare and add some -very decent- wear and tear.

As usual, very clean and straightforward built and paintjob Roland. The Interior also looks superb..👍
Swedish weeks in your Man cave eh?

Great looking work so far.
How would you rate the kit so far?

Roland Sachsenhofer
Thank you both for your feedback. Daniel, right, now it's time to feed the moose 🙂 Sören, I was very impressed by the accuracy of fit and the thoughtfulness of the kit. That's what I feel now with each of the new Airfix kits. But unfortunately the Airfix-typical too deep expression of the panel lines is to be noticed again. When dry-fitting, I somehow didn't bring the rear, fixed canopy part exactly onto the fuselage - but I think that was up to me. We'll see soon! 🙂

The Spitfire is now finished. This is really an excellent kit, I only noticed two things: the panel lines are too deep! I also found it very difficult to connect the rear fixed part of the cockpit glazing cleanly to the fuselage.
Otherwise it was a pure pleasure. I hope you like the pictures of the finished Supermarine Spitfire XIX/ S.31!
