Maybe an idea to remove any raised panel lines, or, recessed panel lines altogehter? Might look more "clean" and smooth without funky panel lines. And you could also try re-scribing the panel lines, or some, into a layer of primer paint.

That's exactly what I will do, Treehugger. I snad all the fuselage to remove the raised panel marks. I will keep the marks on the wing, though. Also, I will use bare metal foil technique on underbelly and wings.

Any ideas for any discoloring the metal sheets, or will they be the same all over? I have no idea how to change the apparent metal color on such sheets, but maybe some masking tape and an airbrush might work.

I intend trying to change the color for the bare metal foil on the engine. When wife cooks using aluminum foil I see that the color changes. I will try to heat it and see how it goes. I also have an Italeri 1:72 kit of the B-58 Hustler that I want to apply this effect on the engines when I assemble it, and this aircraft will be a "Guinea Pig" for that matter.

Brave you!
Remember to watch out for the nose size. It's shorter than it should be, hence the cockpit is too close to the nosetip. While it's not a problem during assembly, it may become problematic upon decalling. That at least was my case with the Air France cheatline.

Thanks for the heads up Lukasz, but i am going to use FCM Decals for Brazilian Airline Cruzeiro do Sul livery, not Air France. Anyway, I will keep an eye on it, and try it before applying.

I hope you are not using self adhesive foil, because I can't imagine those will fare well with heat.

No problem. You may consider not using the transparent part and using the decals instead. Perhaps then it would be easier to fit all the nose decals, including the windscreen? Not sure, will watch anyway.

if you heat the bare metal foil to change the color.... i think it will basically melt. if would suggest to airbrush some transparent red, blue, grey, light shades, over the metal.

Responding Treehugger, no I will not use self adhesive foil. I will use common kitchen aluminum foil (see my Saab J-35 Draken album) with white glue.
Answering Lukasz, I will use the transparent windshield just to cover the front part of the fuselage. A black decal for it, similar to black decals for windows, is provided in the FCM decal sheet.
About heating the aluminum foil..well... my wife cooks it regularly in the oven, over the food, and no melting occurs. However, I will make some experiences, as I don't know if it is the heat or fat from food that makes it change color..

you can certainly heat normal household aluminium foil. i think you may even do it with a lighter 🙂 I am curious how it looks like when finished.
Augie is working in a B29 with this kind of aluminium, and it looks great B-29-96-BW 45-21800 mothership | Album by Augie (1:48)

I remember reading about discoloring foil by placing the foil in boiling water with boiling eggs. Maybe, it could be so simple as to count the seconds to get some predictable variation in the discoloring perhaps. Haven't tried this myself though.

I tried to heat up the aluminum foil in boiling water, and it did not work. I will see if I can use some oil weathering on aluminum foil later on..
