Airfix Ju-87B-1 1/72
Here's a look on the almost finished cockpit section. The instrument panel is from Yahu, the rest is mostly brush painted. It was quite difficult to find useful information about the colors so some areas might be wrong.
Improvised rivet maker from a cutting disk and clothespin spring
General assembly and gap filling done. Also added rivets along most panel lines. Next up: preshading.
Started the preshading by spraying random patterns on the primed Stuka with a mottling template.
Hired a couple of workers to accelerate the preshading process. Both the RLM70 and 71 I have are way too dark so I'll add another layer of white mottling, hope that helps. Also I airbrushed the area where I want to add chipping effects later on with silver.
It turns out the RLM71 from Hataka is way too dark, even though I also preshaded the Stuka with random white mottling. The second paint, RLM70, also seems wrong - almost black - so there are still a lot of corrections to be done...
Accurate or not, I altered both color tones to my liking. As there will be quite some post shading and weathering, it's not final anyways. As you can see, masking the splinter camo also takes quite some effort!
Added some chipping effects using AK Interactives Worn Effects.
Time to add the decals before moving on to weathering.
How to get realistic prop blur you ask? Well, the best option is probably to really let the propeller spin!
It's finally done!
It took me a long time to create all the rivets, install the motor, do postshading, weathering and a lot more. It took me even longer to edit this video so please share it around and leave me your feedback! Thanks!
